I don't think I ever commented on this video though! Glasses look SO good on you!!! especially after seeing you in so many videos without them. Not that you don't look good without them :]
@1992Jarhead I'll try to convince my mom to spend our next summerhollyday in london so if I'm lucky I can time it right so I can go next year. then I have also been on youtube a bit longer and probably started posting viideos and then she can see that this is not just a fling. youtube is here to stay. and I might have made more friends hwo is going so I won't be alone
I whis I was going to summer in the city :( I really really want to go... but I'm young and can't go alone. I don't have the mony either + my mom isn't that supportive about the whole youtube thing. she thinks it's ok I wacth videos
. but she'd rather I'd "do" something with my time. and she thinks that all internet people are pedophiles :(
@DanishGirl101 My mum was like that in the start as well but she's started realizing what an amazing community YouTube actually offers so I'm allowed to go :).
You just have to convince her that the Internet isn't really that bad!
I'm not going to Summer in the City, but I was in London recently and let me just say - it's heaven for someone with as poor sense of direction as me (and apparently you!). The transport system is amazingly easy to understand, and when you get above ground you can just ask people. They're so helpful and nice over there :)
Haha Simon, that sounds like the time I went to get glasses ;D The man at Synoptik literally said: "WOH you are BLIND! I can't believe you went out in traffic like that!"... thanks -.- Anyways I soon discovered how the world really looks like, that was quite fascinating. Your glasses are really nice btw =)
and.. I would love to go to Summer in the City if it means you'll hug me o.o
How have I only just stumbled upon your videos?! You are amazing! You seem to like very similar things to me and this video made me laugh... a lot! :D
I'm not going to summer in the city :( - Jeg fik forresten selv briller i februar (heldigvis behøver jeg ikke at gå med dem hele tiden) og jeg havde også træ-oplevelsen, det er ret fantastisk!
I'm not wearing any pants right now either. (actually, I am, but sssh.)
I've never heard of Summer in the City, but since I don't live too far from London, I'll probably turn up. If I'm not saving the world or something...
i know just how you feel. i borrowed my moms glasses, and i got all excited 'cause i could see everything. including the leaves on the trees. amazing :D
i remember this one time when i wasn't wearing my glasses in class, and we were supposed to do picture analysis, but i mistook the penguins on the pic for a city landscape... epic fail :p
@jenesaispasish Hell yes! Don't even get me started because I won't stop talking about all the great Danish bands :). So let me know what you like! Electronica, indierock, experimental, postrock, pop, shoegaze, dubstep, you name it! And also, when you say "Danish music", do you mean bands who sing in Danish or just bands from Denmark :)?
@1992Jarhead awesome! i just really love the sound of danish and norwegian (those ones would be good too) seeing's they're foreign, but i can still understand most of the lyrics cause im swedish. i'm good with almost anything, although not so much hard-rock/metal, and i love lyrics so maybe something that's not all instrumental. so yes, preferably in danish, but i wouldn't want to miss out on good music just because it's not in the right lingo, so just suggest some favourites :)
But if you're from Scandinavia you probably have heard of Kaizers Orchestra. They're singing in Norwegian and it's awesome :).
Anyway, from Denmark you should check out The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, Atoi, Balstyrko (they're singing in Danish), Blue Foundation, Choir of Young Believers, Cours Lapin, Efterklang (sort of experimental but very popular over here), Er De Sjældne (singing in Danish as well). I'm not even halfway through my iTunes library xD
@annant24 What sort of indie rock are you looking for :)? Indie is such a difficult genre because everybody has their own definition of it! I'm guessing you're thinking of the MGMT/Vampire Weekend/Coldplay sort of deal :)?
@1992Jarhead Yes those are definitely good =) Arcade Fire, Matt & Kim, Arctic Monkeys, Mumford and Sons, really anything- I just want to add something new to it all. Do you know Jens Lekman? Because I am currently obsessed with his music. Thanks =)
@1992Jarhead huh i guess the comment I posted for some reason isn't showing up...oh well. yes i definitely like those bands so anything that sounds like them is good. Also if there is anything similar to Matt & Kim, Arcade Fire, Mumford and Sons, The Avett Brothers, Arctic Monkeys, Jens Lekman....idk anything. Whatever you think is the best
@1992Jarhead damnit I just saw that the comment I posted before did end up showing up but not on one computer....okay I just feel dumb now. Last comment I swear =)
PS For Summer in the City, while of course ask to stay with YTers you know if any... but if that fails/you know not a londoner... look at hospitalityclub and couchsurfing! I volunteer for the first and retired (time restraints) after 2yrs being a USA ambassador (basically just under the "leadership team") for the 2nd so yeah check them out;it's the ONLY way I travel-super helpful locals.Look for well-trusted ppl-CS is very sophisticated on that w/refs, top-down vouching, etc; HC has "trust"&refs
When I got glasses, I also got contacts... I had great vision as a kid but between school and reading all night under the cover with a flashlight, I sort of wrecked it ar til in algebra in grade 8, maybe a good thing happened--I sat pretty far back, couldn't see the overhead clearly (something about translucent ink made big by that light=really hard to see), + ended up solving stuff ppl would think IMPOSSIBLE because I wrote the numbers down wrong! Got me a perfect score on all 3 nat'l exams :P
lol the first thing i noticed when i gort my glasses was a freckle that i thought was pretty normal on my leg, turns out ITS STAR SHAPED! how did i miss that?
You looked just like Gordon there!! :D And you broke your lamp.. and you're not wearing your pants.. AND you look super clever and sexy in your glasses!! <3 :)
hahah when you were saying "I don't enjoy sticking my own finger in my own eye" I was like "so, is it ok if it's another finger or another eye..?o.O" haha pointless comment:)
OH MAN. I WANNA GO. but i'm not (sad face) now i'm going to miss out on the unicorns and the rainbows(maybe i'm happy about missing out on the rainbows, i didn't know that that was were they come from). life is bleak...
i was just like you. the world has now changed for you. this is your second chance. see what you can young one. :D yep. i got deep there. careful. you don't wanna fall in.
When you're in London, get one of those public transport cards. they're relatively cheap, and you can go wherever you need with for instance the bus or the underground.
I didn't know SITC existed ... and now I feel bad. I think I might try and show up, and you being there would sweeten the deal - I might try and convince my Uncle to let me have his floor to sleep on - or something.
Ha, I remember seeing the leaves for the first time, it's amazing how much you miss without glasses!
And SITC, I'm hoping to attend, but I'm moving to London (YEY!) somewhere around that time, and until I know dates for school and find myself a room/flat to rent, I'm on "standby". A good place to stay is YHA (youth hostel) in London, I'm pretty sure they have one close to Hyde Park. And they are cheap and good!
When I first got glasses I was astounded to learn that you were actually supposed to be able to read the headlines on a T.V screen.. -.-
Anddddd, as far as SitC, it's a bit hard to go from Washington, D.C to London with the sole purpose of seeing people whom you've only every watched on a computer screen.. :(
I have had super strong glasses since I was 5. I freaked out when I first put them on. Everything was more than blurs of colour and it was just freaky.
My eyes are getting worse again though. I was looking for a new pair of glasses today. :)
I live in greater London near Heathrow airport.... you dont really want to be getting a cab from there to central London unless you have lots of money! But a bus and train wont be that confusing and is faaaaar cheaper! And London isnt that confusing! Especially with google maps ;) All you need is an Iphone and you'll be set =P
I love your commenter voice, lol. That was pretty awesome.
And I know how you feel about being able to see. I've had glasses since 3rd grade and all my memories prior to that are blurred and out of focus. And yellow, for some reason.
Also, I daydream about being able to wake up one day and just see the time on my alarm clock with no visual assistance whatsoever. siiiiiigh...
I live in London and know it like the back of my hand! I'm going summer in the city with some friends ,so If you're worried about getting lost I can meet you at whatever hotel you're at and take you hyde and show ya LDN town! =]
@NatalieZenaLouise I've realized that I have a lot of viewers from Australia. You guys should totally come together and arrange your own YouTube gathering :)
if you're looking for places to stay in london you should try youth hostles the london ones are pretty nice unlike some others but they're still cheap and really central i've stayed in the st pancreas one and it was good love to make it down for summer in the city have to look into it
@Connie270393 I'm already in the process of looking up youth hostel :). I want to find something really close to the London Eye where the gathering takes place.
Which reminds me... Where in London are you guys staying? Because I've realized that travelling to another country to attend a YouTube gathering ALONE is pretty much the most awkward thing I could do xD.
@hcsorensen Du tager til VidCon?! Wow! Vildt :D! Jeg har i hvert fald ikke hørt om andre danskere som tager afsted. Men jeg håber, at du får en god tur :)
@1992Jarhead Tak. Men det passede bare tilfældigvis med at jeg alligevel skulle en tur der hen lige omkring det tidspunkt. Så jeg rejser ikke hele vejen derhen bare pga. VidCon.
Every time I change my glasses, I feel exactly the same as you! I stare at every tree on my way home 8) Also, why are there youtube gatherings in America and Europe but absolutely zilch in Asia???? T-T
@1992Jarhead I want to! But my country's one of the smaller islands and little kids are not likely to be allowed by the parental units to organise gatherings with strangers =( Oh well, one day there will be a youtube gathering in Asia >) Someday~
@TheZaraAshley I know you probably meant that as a joke but I'm actually serious when I'm saying that I'll consider it because I'm honestly terrified of getting lost in London or spending too much money on a hotel xD.
@1992Jarhead Ah I would take you in for your stay, but I don't think my mum would be too impressed :') Still, I hope you have a lovely time in London and if I see you around I'll be sure to point you in the right direction.
BUT they kind of scared me as I felt in a dreamlike state,so I don't wear them much anymore. But I love my glasses,I do,nerdlike and gigantic <3
GLASSES FTW!!!!!!
But you're lucky to only have to get them now....I got mine at 7,and I'm 13 now so...Nearly 6 years with these things...Sigh,my entire childhood with them...
Oh gosh I really want to go,but I've never even been to London before...
It's okay simon, most people don't judge on physical appearences (I mean, all the people who will be your friends and stuff) So,meh.
And welcome to the glasses club!Glad you joined us,finally :)
Also, you still are devilishly handsome, and those glasses increase the sexi-simoness,so well done :) And contacts aren't that bad,but you shouldn't be ashamed of glasses to use them.It was amazing when I first put on contacts,I felt like I was back at 6 years old, before I got my glasses.A beautiful miracle
I lke the Batman blanket and I too had the same experience when I first got my glasses. It was like seeing the world for the first time. Things almost looked fake to me. I'm glad someone else has had this experience.
@PernillekPedersen Forhåbentligt jo :). Men der er så meget, der skal organiseres før, at det kan lade sig gøre, og jeg har eksamener i øjeblikket! Men jeg vil gøre, hvad jeg kan :)
@1992Jarhead sounds like I would be joining you in being the awkward forever alone person.
If I actually had some youtuber friends I would probably go, but since the whole 3 days most likely would be beyond awkward for me if I went alone, I don't think I'll be going, sadly.
I like your glasses, they really suit you! :-) Plus, the fact that you have been driving around in your car all this time without seeing the signs is a bit scary. :P
@BrittaHeLEna Thanks :). Yea well I didn't really think about it untill someone pointed out to me that I was supposed to be able to read the signs from far away xD
@1992Jarhead Well she'll just have to accept it. :P
Money. I was broke when I was supposed to buy it, but because VidCon is on the weekend and transportation sucks here in LA, I wouldn't be able to get back home. A hotel is just too expensive. My back up was staying at the hostel in Santa Monica and take the bus up and down to the hotel it's happening at, but because I didn't know anyone going I just decided not to go. If you're going to VidCon, or know anyone going, DO NOT take a taxi! DON'T!
You reminded me of a pterodactyl when you were jumping around your bed. I wish I could go to SITC but I live in Australia so it's a bit far to travel plus ridiculously expensive, and I'll be working in the snow then. Hopefully one year I will go = )
@1992Jarhead I wish I had a pterodactyl, that would be awesome! I was saying from what I imagine they would do, you looked like one =). Australia isn't just far away from London, its far away from everything! My closest country is NZ and thats a 4 hour flight.
I think your glasses are cute. I got glasses when I was 6. Apparently, I talked for about 3 hours about how I could see the leaves on the trees. I also read every single sign out loud for weeks.
A shame you won't be able to come but I understand. Australia is far away from London! But something YouTube related might come up in your area during the summer :). Do not lose hope friend!
Not going cause I live in America, but it starts on my birthday! if that means something... (and not going to vidcon because I live in the southeast US and have no means of getting to LA)
but about, the glasses, they look great! and it is wonderful being able to see details! I have a friend who always complains about not being able to see, and I'm like "get some glasses" but she refuses. and I'm like 1) glasses are hot bro, and 2) get contacts, they're awesome and not scary (same goes to you!)
I was the same when I first got my glasses! I kept wondering if everyone else could see all the colours as vividly and was a bit sad I'd been missing out before I had glasses. The grass had never been greener :)
This reminded me of 'The Glass Castle' by Jeannette Walls, when Lori gets glasses; here's an excerpt: “You see that tree over there?” she said, pointing at a sycamore about a hundred feet away. I nodded.
“I can not only see that tree, I can see the individual leaves on it.” She looked at me triumphantly. “Can you see them?”
I nodded.
“She didn’t seem to believe me. “The individual leaves? I mean not just the branches but each little leaf?”
i had the same leaves on the tree experiance when i got glasses. only it was leaves on a bush haha. and hair, i could see ever single strand of hair on a person's head! amazing, well a bit creepy, but amazing non the less. live in america so can't go :(

I have to get glasses soon too, and I am not opting for contacts. Mainly b/c I'm a nerd. But also b/c of the eye-poking thing.
Loony1393 9 months ago
You suit your glasses :DD♥
PlainSeason 9 months ago
I dont knoooow Dx I'm 14 and my parents are quite strict T-T
PlainSeason 9 months ago
I live in greater London near Heathrow airport.... you dont really want to be getting a cab from there to central London unless you have lots of money! But a bus and train wont be that confusing and is faaaaar cheaper! And London isnt that confusing! Especially with google maps ;) All you need is an Iphone and you'll be set =P
Calithrade 9 months ago
I feel exactly the same about contacts; I will stick with my glasses too!

I live in Ireland :(

Hi there Gordon.
Meh, being able to read blackboards and road signs isn't too necessary.... <_< but I do like the glasses :D
I will be at SITC... in spirit. :( I live in the middle of America... D:
resiherm 9 months ago
Ah yes, I will most definitely be going to SITC if you're going to be there! I'll drag my friend who also watches your videos along x
CheeseboxSpongePants 9 months ago
Oh! And the glasses look fabulous!
VLicious8704 9 months ago
I love your commenter voice, lol. That was pretty awesome.
And I know how you feel about being able to see. I've had glasses since 3rd grade and all my memories prior to that are blurred and out of focus. And yellow, for some reason.
Also, I daydream about being able to wake up one day and just see the time on my alarm clock with no visual assistance whatsoever. siiiiiigh...
*is deathly afraid of lasik*
VLicious8704 9 months ago
I live in London and know it like the back of my hand! I'm going summer in the city with some friends ,so If you're worried about getting lost I can meet you at whatever hotel you're at and take you hyde and show ya LDN town! =]

are you going to vidcon as well? I will be very sad attending vidcon without meeting my favorite youtuber.

@1992Jarhead I'm from Glasgow, Scotland... Have you been before...?
ThisWaySketch 9 months ago
I love your view on seeing through glasses and such. Also, no I'm not attending Summer in the City - Australia is a bit far from London.
NatalieZenaLouise 9 months ago
@NatalieZenaLouise I've realized that I have a lot of viewers from Australia. You guys should totally come together and arrange your own YouTube gathering :)
1992Jarhead 9 months ago
if you're looking for places to stay in london you should try youth hostles the london ones are pretty nice unlike some others but they're still cheap and really central i've stayed in the st pancreas one and it was good love to make it down for summer in the city have to look into it
Connie270393 9 months ago
@Connie270393 I'm already in the process of looking up youth hostel :). I want to find something really close to the London Eye where the gathering takes place.
1992Jarhead 9 months ago
SITC?!?!? I GET TO SEE YOU!!!!!!
ShmoNerd 9 months ago
@ShmoNerd YES IF EVERYTHING WORKS OUT!!!
Which reminds me... Where in London are you guys staying? Because I've realized that travelling to another country to attend a YouTube gathering ALONE is pretty much the most awkward thing I could do xD.

1992Jarhead 9 months ago
@1992Jarhead Tak. Men det passede bare tilfældigvis med at jeg alligevel skulle en tur der hen lige omkring det tidspunkt. Så jeg rejser ikke hele vejen derhen bare pga. VidCon.
hcsorensen 9 months ago
hahahah hilarious big green blob for trees! ....i think that would of been a definite hint to get glasses! :D
kitty2kool 9 months ago
@kitty2kool Definitely! I can't believe I was so long to buy a pair of glasses :)
1992Jarhead 9 months ago
Every time I change my glasses, I feel exactly the same as you! I stare at every tree on my way home 8) Also, why are there youtube gatherings in America and Europe but absolutely zilch in Asia???? T-T
UrufuAmetsuchi 9 months ago
@UrufuAmetsuchi I don't know! It's sad :( ! You should totally arrange your own YouTube gathering :D
1992Jarhead 9 months ago
@1992Jarhead I want to! But my country's one of the smaller islands and little kids are not likely to be allowed by the parental units to organise gatherings with strangers =( Oh well, one day there will be a youtube gathering in Asia >) Someday~
UrufuAmetsuchi 9 months ago
Oh my god, you should just come stay at my house, I could be your tour guide since I live 15 minutes away from central London.
TheZaraAshley 9 months ago
@TheZaraAshley I know you probably meant that as a joke but I'm actually serious when I'm saying that I'll consider it because I'm honestly terrified of getting lost in London or spending too much money on a hotel xD.
1992Jarhead 9 months ago
@1992Jarhead Ah I would take you in for your stay, but I don't think my mum would be too impressed :') Still, I hope you have a lovely time in London and if I see you around I'll be sure to point you in the right direction.
TheZaraAshley 9 months ago
BUT they kind of scared me as I felt in a dreamlike state,so I don't wear them much anymore. But I love my glasses,I do,nerdlike and gigantic <3
GLASSES FTW!!!!!!
But you're lucky to only have to get them now....I got mine at 7,and I'm 13 now so...Nearly 6 years with these things...Sigh,my entire childhood with them...
Oh gosh I really want to go,but I've never even been to London before...
Lucky Simon,lucky luck Simon...
blingblingshineshine 9 months ago
@blingblingshineshine Well one time has to be the first so you might as well do it now :D!!!
But I can see why it's a bit scary to travel to a completely new city to meet a bunch of people from the Internet =P
1992Jarhead 9 months ago
It's okay simon, most people don't judge on physical appearences (I mean, all the people who will be your friends and stuff) So,meh.
And welcome to the glasses club!Glad you joined us,finally :)
Also, you still are devilishly handsome, and those glasses increase the sexi-simoness,so well done :) And contacts aren't that bad,but you shouldn't be ashamed of glasses to use them.It was amazing when I first put on contacts,I felt like I was back at 6 years old, before I got my glasses.A beautiful miracle
blingblingshineshine 9 months ago
@blingblingshineshine Thank you for welcoming to the glasses club! I hope I'll enjoy my stay ^^
1992Jarhead 9 months ago
I lke the Batman blanket and I too had the same experience when I first got my glasses. It was like seeing the world for the first time. Things almost looked fake to me. I'm glad someone else has had this experience.
himynameisnickolas 9 months ago
@himynameisnickolas It sure is a remarkable experience, eh :)?

PernillekPedersen 9 months ago
@PernillekPedersen Forhåbentligt jo :). Men der er så meget, der skal organiseres før, at det kan lade sig gøre, og jeg har eksamener i øjeblikket! Men jeg vil gøre, hvad jeg kan :)
1992Jarhead 9 months ago
as someone who was once paranoid of contacts, believe me when i say contacts arent that bad.
spectrem 9 months ago
@spectrem I guess they aren't that bad but it's a fear that I'll have to overcome first and that won't happen within the next year :P
1992Jarhead 9 months ago
I would love to go to the gathering, but I don't have any one to go with and going alone would just be to weird :I
PinkKop 9 months ago
@PinkKop I'm going alone xD. Even amongst YouTubers I'm the awkward forever alone guy :P
So you should be able to come as well!!!
1992Jarhead 9 months ago
@1992Jarhead sounds like I would be joining you in being the awkward forever alone person.
If I actually had some youtuber friends I would probably go, but since the whole 3 days most likely would be beyond awkward for me if I went alone, I don't think I'll be going, sadly.
PinkKop 9 months ago
I like your glasses, they really suit you! :-) Plus, the fact that you have been driving around in your car all this time without seeing the signs is a bit scary. :P
BrittaHeLEna 9 months ago
@BrittaHeLEna Thanks :). Yea well I didn't really think about it untill someone pointed out to me that I was supposed to be able to read the signs from far away xD
1992Jarhead 9 months ago
I'm really sorry if this is creepy, but I feel like you need to know that your glasses make you look sexy.....sorry. just thought you should know.
BriBri771 9 months ago
@BriBri771 Thank you I guess =P
1992Jarhead 9 months ago
At least half the guys on YouTube don't wear pants when they vlog...
I wish I was going to Summer in the City, but that would be a long drive from California.
I remember when I got glasses, it was like seeing everything in HD.
chelseariffic 9 months ago
@chelseariffic It's some sort of weird tradition. Don't ask :P
So you live in Cali :)? Planning on attending VidCon instead then?
1992Jarhead 9 months ago
@1992Jarhead Yeah, I'm just gonna go ahead and blame John Green for that tradition.
I am going to VidCon! I could not be more excited :)
chelseariffic 9 months ago
Just marry Batman, just do it.
Sexy glasses are sexy. I need new ones. :/
I live in California, so no, I won't be attending SITC. I'm not even going to VidCon and I live IN Los Angeles.
No pants? Awkward... You better be wearing British pants (underwear) though.
edgehaedjr 9 months ago
@edgehaedjr Marry him? I'm not sure my girlfriend would approve :P
Why not VidCon?!
1992Jarhead 9 months ago
@1992Jarhead Well she'll just have to accept it. :P
Money. I was broke when I was supposed to buy it, but because VidCon is on the weekend and transportation sucks here in LA, I wouldn't be able to get back home. A hotel is just too expensive. My back up was staying at the hostel in Santa Monica and take the bus up and down to the hotel it's happening at, but because I didn't know anyone going I just decided not to go. If you're going to VidCon, or know anyone going, DO NOT take a taxi! DON'T!
edgehaedjr 9 months ago
You reminded me of a pterodactyl when you were jumping around your bed. I wish I could go to SITC but I live in Australia so it's a bit far to travel plus ridiculously expensive, and I'll be working in the snow then. Hopefully one year I will go = )
teenagemutantninjana 9 months ago
@teenagemutantninjana You have a pterodactyl?! Amazing :D.
I understand. Australia is pretty effing far away from London. Distance sure is a bitch :(
1992Jarhead 9 months ago
@1992Jarhead I wish I had a pterodactyl, that would be awesome! I was saying from what I imagine they would do, you looked like one =). Australia isn't just far away from London, its far away from everything! My closest country is NZ and thats a 4 hour flight.
teenagemutantninjana 9 months ago
I like your glasses :)
TheRedAngel21 9 months ago
@TheRedAngel21 I do too ^__^
1992Jarhead 9 months ago
I think your glasses are cute. I got glasses when I was 6. Apparently, I talked for about 3 hours about how I could see the leaves on the trees. I also read every single sign out loud for weeks.

1992Jarhead 9 months ago
Wow, those glasses suit you incredibly well. I will not be attending Summer in the City :( Australia has nothing youtube related.
jittercake 9 months ago
@jittercake Thank you ^^
A shame you won't be able to come but I understand. Australia is far away from London! But something YouTube related might come up in your area during the summer :). Do not lose hope friend!
1992Jarhead 9 months ago
Not going cause I live in America, but it starts on my birthday! if that means something... (and not going to vidcon because I live in the southeast US and have no means of getting to LA)
but about, the glasses, they look great! and it is wonderful being able to see details! I have a friend who always complains about not being able to see, and I'm like "get some glasses" but she refuses. and I'm like 1) glasses are hot bro, and 2) get contacts, they're awesome and not scary (same goes to you!)
GlerkyDestiny 9 months ago
@GlerkyDestiny A shame you won't be able to attend any gatherings this summer! Maybe next year, eh :)?
hahah thanks, I might consider contacts after awhile but for now I'll just keep the glasses :)
1992Jarhead 9 months ago
I've been considering it but I really don't think I can make it because I start a work placement in the summer :( gutted.

@reckonermk1 I see why that's a problem :(. A shame you can't come!!

I might be going, its like 10 mins from my house, yepp.. its gonna be such a struggle to get there :/
mahnamesinjar 9 months ago
@mahnamesinjar So I can count on seeing you there :)?
1992Jarhead 9 months ago
I was the same when I first got my glasses! I kept wondering if everyone else could see all the colours as vividly and was a bit sad I'd been missing out before I had glasses. The grass had never been greener :)
octopusScarf 9 months ago
@octopusScarf Exactly! I couldn't say it better :)
1992Jarhead 9 months ago
This reminded me of 'The Glass Castle' by Jeannette Walls, when Lori gets glasses; here's an excerpt: “You see that tree over there?” she said, pointing at a sycamore about a hundred feet away. I nodded.
“I can not only see that tree, I can see the individual leaves on it.” She looked at me triumphantly. “Can you see them?”
I nodded.
“She didn’t seem to believe me. “The individual leaves? I mean not just the branches but each little leaf?”
I nodded. Lori looked at me and burst into tears.
gnarlyscarly 9 months ago
@gnarlyscarly Never heard of the book before but it sounds great :). And the excerpt is very much relevant in my situation so thank you ^__^

@1992Jarhead We're (me and my mum) are going to France, Italy, Greece and the U.K. we haven't finished planning yet, so we'll probably, go to more(:
CrunchingCrayons 9 months ago
i had the same leaves on the tree experiance when i got glasses. only it was leaves on a bush haha. and hair, i could see ever single strand of hair on a person's head! amazing, well a bit creepy, but amazing non the less. live in america so can't go :(
aniluluful 9 months ago
@aniluluful It truly is a remarkable experience. Getting glasses for the first time :).
