why is it legal for the runner to put his hands on the defense facemask when he stiff arms but if the defense so much as grazes the runner's facemask it's an automatic penalty. doesn't make sense, if the runner can do it so should the defense be able to.

First half of the season he was punished pretty harshly for a two fumble game (seems to have done the trick there), and I think he had a minor injury at some point early in the season that they were careful with. He's starting to play very well 2nd half of the season though. Hightower is in the game so much because he's a very good receiving threat and they're a pass first offense. Beanie is getting more and more carries though, and even a few passes thrown his way. It's only a matter of time

Beanie hasn't had any type of surgery since he was drafted. The Cards are a pass first team right now, period. They have a complex offense and Beanie has had to get used to the play responsibilities of pro football. He will eventually start, but the NFL is an entirely different animal than CFB. As long as the Cards have a pass offense like this, the RB's will have to be able to run, catch and pick up blitzes. He's a more complete player now than he was at the start of the season anyway.
