  • I dont really understand or care why people are arguing about minutiae, this is an entertaining video that shows off some interesting use of technique. How encouraging to see that not all drummers are rooted in using matched grip, playing only in 4/4 and are only capable of posting videos of themselves drumming along to their favourite band. It's good to see someone who values technique and realises there are things to learn from the past masters.

  • Awesome, Amazing. Keep up the great work!

  • Relax with the camera changes, you're making me dizzy.

  • There is only one Joe Morello and one Buddy Rich. What this drummer is doing is his version of both techniques and I am pretty sure that his technique is much better than many called drummers which are dying of envy when they see this guy. He is a good drummer and there is no discussion about that

  • Master Albright's Contemporary Studies for Snare Drum...then generate a video.

    Nothing but rudiments....

  • only real drummers will appreciate what you're doing. good stuff.

  • I don't like this solo much, but I have a LOT of respect for your skills and the work, time and efforts it takes to get this level! Very good done bro ;)

  • you know what i tried to talk to you like 3 years ago but you never responded. and now i'm as good as you.

  • Can see where you got your inspiration from, having both Joe Morello tuition videos and the Buddy Rich approaches to the snare and kit. Have also seen your own videos and learnt a lot. Even my mum enjoyed them! Excellent technique and yes, Mr Rich was just as fond of showmanship (the stick trick for instance), so despite other negative comments, this is something to work toward. Thank you for more inspiration.

  • Great job bro :) thanks

  • Nice man...you're left hand is faster than both my hands together. Never stop playing...again, NIICE!!!

  • so much respect

  • it would sound so much better if the snares were on. but its a bangin solo man

  • Youon't see your ego is much greater than your experience. You have great chops, but so do tens of thousands of other players. The point is you are playing to other drummers which proves you are not a musician, just a hcak wanna be. I don't see you on a stage with an audience, so who is your audience. IT should be everyone who enjoys music not tricks and licks and drums solos. Until you prove your musical worth, don't compare yourself to the MASTERS.

  • This is awesome :D

  • I can be as critical as anyone on here .... with that said , I do not understand what Conservatory and Philarmonic are saying .... actually considering the similarities of their screen names and the similarly stupid comments , I suspect they are the same people .... regardless , this is a drum solo , by definition he will not be playing to music DUH ! .. regarding Conservatory `s comments about musical ideas .... this guy phrases pretty well , it wasnt just a lot of speed noise

  • Thanks great to watch - ignore all those losers who post negative comment - why don't they put their own stuff on you tube? typical armchair critics

  • my only negative critique of this video is that it was not long enough. i seriously could watch for a hell of a lot longer than a minute. i'm sick of solos that are basically rudimentary techniques accented with a double kick that makes them sound complex to the untrained ear. but listen to a dude wail away on nothing but a snare relying on a mastery of techniques few take the time to focus on (because they're not initially as glamorous as, say, a double kick) is truly inspirational.

  • i think this is pretty good.i don't care who is on here.there is always some moron who's going to badmouth it.

  • i definately feel hear and se the morello in there like the whipping motion at 17 that was very crisp! awesomeeee

  • Cool Dude...great to see a yount fella taking hints from a legend like Joe ...good onya mate !!

  • don't lissen to the naysavers and keep on playing. they can jump in the lake

  • Inspired by Morello AND Lang. Haha. Nice job, man. You've got that left hand down.

  • Badass dude, I learned allot watchin your vids, POST SOME MORE!!!

  • It doesn't take a good drummer to recognize a bad one. Considering your persistent haters, I wonder what kind of drummer thinks a good one is bad. Probably, a horrendous, self-loathing, or mentally ill one.

  • what sticks do u use?

  • I hear the Morello influence, but no Buddy.

  • I agree, I hear more Morello. Buddy was never one to study and it shows in his style...

Morello however was well studied as is Mr. Moeller here, and it shows in their sound. Great chops though I must say.

  • fuck all you cunts who keep sending hate. fucking youtubes haters, think your better than everyone? this guy is just sharing his talent. he isnt claiming to be anything. just because you can sit at a computer and comment peoples videos doesnt mean your good at anything. fat nerds. go to hell

  • @Mrphilharmonic

wow apparently this ass clown doesn't know what the word "inspired" means....idiot get a dictionary and come back when you have something to say that makes sense.

  • @masterofmoeller haha you're very right, great playing

  • @Mrphilharmonic I agree man, leave him alone. He did really well. It sounded great. And it is music. :D

  • @Mrphilharmonic

Nice man...you're left hand is faster than both my hands together. Never stop playing...again, NIICE!!!

  • the calf head works against your speed and articulation. BS move at the end. Buddy and Joe always has musical ideas working. You are speed for speed's sake and technique for its own sake. And if you can't take the criticism, stop posting this shit.

  • could someone please remove the sand from this guys vagina it's making him cranky, oh and ask him where his videos are....

  • @masterofmoeller lol dude you dont need me to agree as well haha

  • @masterofmoeller hahahaha u told them

  • @masterofmoeller hahahaha u told them

nice sticks though never saw them kind of vic firth sticks

  • @CCConservatory Since you post shit comments on his videos, why dont you do it then?

  • @CCConservatory

    buddy is garbage

  • @CCConservatory .... you moron ... why would you chastize this guy for being all about speed but then suggest that his use of calf heads works against his speed .... i think that head is a fyberskin anyway , not calf

  • Good job! Very nice.

  • You call yourself "master of..." in your Youtube name with every justification. What a talent!

  • that's great!

  • You are GOD!?! I have practiced Moeller for 18 months. I watched Jim Chapin's Moeller technique countless times. I was not picking up speed. Your "pull-up" approach gave me better result in a month. I gave up drumming some years ago. Now that I have a son much more gifted than I ever was. He learns stuff in a day that used to take me weeks. I have to keep learning just to teach him. Pls watch his solo on YouTube - Drum Solo Take 7 by Vincent Tang and comment. We can sure use your help.

  • What kind of sticks you using?

  • Vic Firth - Dave Weckl Evolution / Signature

  • Nice work, can you give us an example of some of the rudiments used. Is it all singles or singles dubbles etc, that would be a great help.

  • all moeller

  • where can I learn this technique?

  • he did?

  • very nice.

  • practice

  • best answer ever lol

  • Excelente Tecnica carnal...ja, buen final.Saludos desde Mexico por cierto Morello y Rich tambien son mis preferidos junto con Chapin.

  • skatemanevan

It's because there's no travis barker style crazy ass arm waving and general drum abuse (:

  • excellent......

-joe woulda done a bit more left hand only ;)--but that is something for you to shoot for..u have v good skills keep it up

  • hey man!very cool!

  • So amazing....

  • What a set of chops on this kid.

  • Great hands

  • thats what she said

  • do you use 2 cameras?

  • dude! that was freakin AWESOME! Wish like hell I could do that! Keep it up!

  • Very nice.

  • nice solo! 5/5

the snare is such an amazing piece of work.

  • nice finish man AWESOME

  • Beautiful single stroke rolls! I do em the hard way but I would like to learn that Moeller technique I see on youtube. Looks like you have really mastered it.

  • excellent solo - and tutorials! i haven't paid mind to my technique in a while, and they're just what i need

  • put on your snares?!

  • pretty sure he probably did that on purpose?!

  • thats what she said

  • Youve got some smooth moves there Brudda

  • train me in your ways

  • great

  • great style!....what type of drum head is that??

  • an old remo fyberskin?

  • ya i actually realised that after i made the comment, i went out and bout a few of them, good heads!...thanks and great vids

  • No worries and thanks!

  • ya fiberskyns, FAs or FDs and this was at memphis drum shop or at least the heads have the shop's logo on it.

  • Very nice but very short.

  • wasnt you 11?

  • Like that left hand roll.

  • You have Joe Morello's stance in playing

  • Great execution and not only that, but very relaxed unlike a lot of other guys you see on u tube..

  • no no no..!come back and tell me (somehow) how you do it!!!hehe

  • loved it.

i'd really love to hear something with the snare on to

  • how do you say..... fantastic!

  • no need in this kind of solo.

  • Great technique my friend...I like the left hand sticking....please post a video on how you keep your stick bouncing by just using your finger...cheers.

  • freakin great technique dude !!!! great job !!! Greetings from Chile !

  • Loved it. PLEASE tell us what kind of head that is. And I'd really like to hear your snare with the wires engaged.

  • stunning.

  • Good stuff,.. very good stuff!

  • superb technique!

  • yeah look at my other videos

  • nice

  • Master stick control. Bravo bud, your technique is flawless!

  • Man!!!!!

    You play...you groove....and this guys....

    Forget about!!!!!!!!!!!

I know what i´m talkin about!

    Congratulations from Brasil!

  • darth stfu! you don´t know nothing!

and master, your a smart guy, don´t pray to the ashes pass on the fire ;)!!!

    peaz

  • It's not like I said anything insulting to begin with, so what's the attitude for? Actually no intelligent musician would stoop down to doing blatant jokes - it's immature and pointless. This guy is another one of those self indulgent morons with an attitude just cause they get compliments from people who don't really know what they're doing... Even so I keep no hard feelings!

  • Nice tech, not much for feeling tho...

  • that's not what your mom said

  • Kindergarten language ^^ Pretty stupid aren't you?

  • hahaha lighten up... wheres your videos??

  • In case I wanted to measure my dick with someone I would've posted my videos and then write - "THERE - I'M BETTER". Obviously that's not the case - I'm just stating my opinion. This dude is going ape shit on me, yet I need to lighten up ^^

  • haha woah measure your dick with someone?? now this is just gettin awkward bro.

  • Dude... It's a metaphor - you got my point xD

  • hahahahaha. Dude, that is seriously hilarious. You can never go wrong with the "your mom" jokes. BTW-I think it had plenty of "feeling". Keep jammin and post some more videos already!!!!!

  • So much technique, so little class.

  • well go have someone criticize your videos that probably don't know shit about what they're talkin about....see how much class you have after that. Oh and hey Darth...I am your father

  • It's a magic trick called "ignore".

It takes years of practice on YouTube comment areas.

  • u suck man!!!

  • u suck!!! i can beat ur ass!!! hahahaha not

  • You're very good....didn't really see anything wrong. You know the technique well...just don't count on making a living out of it unless you go all the way and get a teaching degree and try to land a job in High School or college. If you can play piano, I think you can do it...if you don't think that's what you want, then study computers or something....

  • Btw!!! lol, love the flam accents to finish off with, noooooooooooice

  • *sings* did you ever know that your my hero.

Lol, i finish high school in a term and im taking a year off to dedicate to percussion practice... mooching off my mother :D Man... i betta have those one handed rolls down...

You should make a tutorial for uneven single stroke rolls, such as pentuplets, septuplets and so ooon. Love your vids man, im subscribin

  • fully sick

  • wow thats great!!! i liked it with the snares off... now you can hear it better and you can hear it's really clean. otherwise it only is a big wall of noise. great job !!!

  • that was sweet!

  • you can play the drums bruv, your sick mate, how long did that take you

  • Love . . what I could of it. Please next time . . put the camera out front and leave it alone. Thanks for the good show of hands!

  • great solo!

  • Hi, here's Edu Nogueira, brazilian drummer. I just want you know that I love the way you play, you're a really good drummer, please came to Brasil, we'll love to hear your drumming. flans&drags friend!

  • I saw some initials on your kit. D.W. stands for? Just curious.. Your a great drummer.

  • DW stands for my name....David Whitaker

  • just the microphone on the camera, lucked out with sound i guess

  • how do you perform the one handed roll with the left hand?

It looks like something beetwen index and thumb

  • haha i wish i could explain it in a comment reply....it's a combo of a moeller stroke with the thumb on the first note and the pointer finger helping out the last three...haha hope that helps...good luck

  • r u playing a one handed roll or a triplet really fast? Buddys one handed roll was single stroke. Still u rock and i couldnt do that.

  • smooth.

  • Sounded great man. Really nailed the moeller technique.

  • :O All you can say...

  • i definitely see some buddy rich in there and some morello moeller too :)

  • a snare from a 60's ludwig clubdate set...the head is a remo fiberskyn 3 with a clear ambassador on the bottom

  • So you are using a 10 mil Clear ambassador on the bottom? Or a 3 mil Ambassador Snareside head?

  • You are very good but your snare sounds like a tin can. But that's okay if it is what YOU want.

  • well the snares aren't on I find I get more clarity in a solo without them on...but thanks for the compliment on my playing!

  • VERY smooth technique. Good work. :)

  • Great technique. Awesome!
