refreshing! FREESTYLE FELLOWSHIPs *inner city griots* is one of the best slept on hip hop joints ever! it came out in the early90's and was a refreshing alternative to the redundant, commercial/mainstreem gangsta ish that everyone seem's to think defines west coast hip hop! .......check out ACEYALONE (all balls dont bounce) & THE NONCE (world ultimate) theres lots of superfresh underground west coast hip hop that came out in the mid-late 90's that was slept on! -dont sleep!

@AfroSulfur I can't remember which company it was but I think it was a birdhouse video. I know that it is on one of the 411 video magazine editions and I wanna say that it was the 25th. anneversary edition.
Is anybody listening to what they are saying? He who has ears let him listen. Up Up and away in ufo's. Thats what they think is going to happen to them who are decieved by the enemy. If you listen well you can see that these dudes are witches. Nobody can rap this good.
I get chills when the chorus repeats the message, "up and away...." And that guitar sample has to arguablly be the best sample use I have ever heard... It gives me chiils everytime I hear it... Almost to the point where the hairs on my arm stand straight.....
def a classic..hard to find too. I lived in LA round that time, in between Good Life Cafe, Limert Park, Bigga B (R.I.P) underground Shows...Pioneers no doubt!!!!either you can feel this vibration or not...whats your frequency?

Only real headz know of the FF. If you think Living Legends is underrated and unsung by pop culture then FF is beyond underground. They're underneath the earth's crust.
No, the songs on all their tracks are written, but they got their name from being freestyle battle specialists. Cats that followed LA underground hip hop (like me) knew these guys could get on a mic & blow it up freestyle. There's a documentary called 'This is the Life' that tells a lot of the story that was LA's underground music scene back in the day. Those were good times. Check it out.
i kno i must sound stupid,, but ive been wondering for a while now if this is really freestyle? i mean their name implies it, but it's soo complex and flowing..

@fuckthewmg1 its not freestyle. However FF built a fan base freestyling at The Good Life Cafe. This song had a huge influence on hip hop that continues to this day. It was probably the first song that uses the free flowing style and it changed the flow of rap from the 80s to the 90s sound.
@guitar16 Interesting that you would respond to me as "man" and "kid" simultaneously. Seems as though you have a tenuous grasp of the English language. Begone!
all ff is true classic, with all the hyped 'oldschool' hip hop you hear everywhere today u never hear the realdeal...all taste varies, but how can anyone think they know what real flow is without loving this...even the newer stuff is dope & still innovative(havent kept up w/much hiphop in past 5 yrs tho)...WEST COAST!!!
Their music was too "jazzy", too complex for the average audience. There aren't many people that give a song those chances, listen to them several times to understand them. I once had this 20 year old girl, that told me, she needed some new music. I handed a song of Mulatu Astatke to her. Her answer was: No, I want REAL MUSIC. I was like wtf. But most people are like this. They don't give complex music a chance to grow on them. And miss out some of the greatest things in the universe.
Man this shit goes so ! Hard!!! I first heard it on wkcr ! NYC the stretch and bobbitto! Show 89.9!! Dope sample!!! Sick lyrics!!!!! The song is like 40 yrs ahead of it's time!
And right here is when it began happening in hip hop as a whole, all over again.Whenever I hear this tune,I'm overjoyed enough to tear up.I have had extraordinary experiences listening to Michael's incomparable ape shit over this unbelievable track.Made us ones in Chicago love them unconditionally. And that's the truth. And nobody ever accomplishes "sounding" like them.
@Agenda1988 word. souls of mischief, the pharcyde and freestyle fellowship should all become one massive muthafuckin group, much like the boot camp clik and wu-tang. how epic would that be. thanks for posting this track up homie, definitely epic
@ratm1211 Yeah but it's like... You know how everybody jumped on Tribe & De La, and the JBs sort of got left in the dust? It's beginning to seem like that's becoming the case for FF and Pharcyde. No disrespect to Pharcyde or Souls, or any of that. It's just... Hmmm....
they came out at the same time well ff was out it 91 but in 93 -94 souls came out, pharcyde and ff and they had that vibe I was bumping all their shit. they have performed together though as far as shows atleast souls and pharcyde have.
@Agenda1988 Pharcyde has hooked up with the fellowship. There is video on youtube of them rhyming together. Pharcyde loved fellowship back in the day.
@Agenda1988 now that would be a show for the century!!!!! the energy of that show would probably bring in world peace hahaha cuz i know for sure that show would bring nothing but positive love and energy
@streetsampras Freestyle Fellowship battled souls of mischeif and casual and served them. Casual had to wear a freestyle fellowship shirt on his next video which was on I didnt mean to. They sound nothing alike. I know this album came out around 1990 or 1991 but I heard this song in 1989
