  • 1:40 Damn, that kid sure looks thrilled. NOT.

  • Loved this game as a kid... Classic...

  • 1:40 Is he a good shot???!

  • LOL the green things used to scare the crap out of me when they busted into the room.

  • @kevinsane

    Me too!!!!!

  • I LOVED this game. I'm such a pussy, watching this made me wanna cry. Thanks for the upload. :)

  • this was one of my favorite games on coleco

  • For levels three, six and nine: there are also Genies, Demons and Bats.

  • I found that in the Wall Room, you can actually carve a hole in the moving walls if your aim is perfect and you can shoot rapidly enough.

One annoyance I noticed in the arcade original is that if it looks like you've got a clear shot, enemies may move away just before the arrow hits. So, you'd have to find a place where you can keep shooting until the enemy comes into range and gets hit.

  • EASILY the best game on Colecovision. The sound effects alone would give me nightmares.

  • I had this for Colecovision, and I have to say it's a near perfect port of the arcade version!

  • i just found this game in the middle of a street i just need a atari now to play it

  • One of my favorite games -- thanks for the memories.

  • Those Green Monsters are actually called "Hall" monsters in the game

  • i loved this game !!!

  • what memorys, I used to play this at school that they had in the quiet room :D

  • Jesus! I forgot about those green monsters! I won't sleep tonight!!!

  • This was in my top three of all time fav Colecovision games.

  • @Kevinmham oh yeah. I remember those scared the crap out of me if you waited too long in a room..

  • Loved this game back in the day. Somehow, it was scary to me.

  • Those Green Monsters gave me some bad nightmares when I was a kid.

  • @cheeseovision I gotta wonder what those nightmares where like then ha ha, what was it you just walking in a black room and a big pixelated monster came chasing you lol.

  • @DylanMayhew The worst was the deep resonating sound that came when the Hall Monster appeared. I fear playing Venture to this day.

  • love this. I remember getting this game for the 2600 for xmas when it came out, my 2600 still works fine too :D

  • Unfortunately the ColecoVision version shut out the 2600 in terms of overall graphics and gameplay.

  • i loved this game!!!!!

  • Oh man...memories of my 20's. I loved this game too. Colecovision was incredible. Thank you for posting!

  • This game was awesome.

  • Wow! The Colecovision version is much better, than the Atari 2600 version. :-D

  • oh man, I forgot about this game! I used to love playing this on my coleco.

  • The Coleco had the best sound card of all back then. Awesome sound effects and music.

  • Remember playing the exact same game only on the Atari 2600. Was my favorite game.

  • umm, towards the end you mentioned getting an extra life because you were so close to the enemy?? No, it's cause on easy, you get an extra life every 20,000 points (you just crossed over that threshold. Great game though

  • He meant the reviewer in this presentation, not who uploaded it.

  • They should have Atari etc. games on the virtual console.

  • I wish someone one remake this game or port it over to a modern day system (with the original gameplay and graphics of course)

  • I used to LOVE this game.

    The memories this brought back!

    A much more fun time.

  • i loved this game....boy do i miss my Colecovision.

  • The green monster - I hated that thing, lol. Good ol' early 80s fun. Zelda did remind me of this game, especially the skeleton monsters.

  • I loved this game on ColecoVision. Played it for hours. Wasn't the green creature also called The Hall Monster? The Wall Room was the worst. Ha ha ha!

  • "Hall Monster" was what he was referred to. You couldn't destroy him at all. All you could do was to avoid him at all costs.

  • Strange, because this game reminds me more of Adventure for Atari... but it does have elements of Zelda in it.

  • i just don't see zelda in this

  • venture > zelda

  • Can you say Zelda? Hmm after a little reminiscing it does take long to so the inspiration for it in many games like this and E. T.

  • Can you say Zelda? Hmm after a little reminiscing it doesn't take long to see the inspiration for it in many games like this and E. T. on Atari. Sorry about the mistakes in my first post..... This game is so great!

  • Latter on in the game the Dragon room and Bat room became so hard to enter.

  • I had the advanced controllers for coleco (whatever they were called )and you could haul ass through Venture with those. Also, I'd love to see a Pifall 2 video; that was one of the hardest home games I ever played.

  • They were the Super Action Controllers. The yellow and orange buttons have the same functions as the side buttons on the standard controllers.

  • SUPER controllers, which were required for Combat and Rocky :)
