The dog is going through a change from dominance and aggression (unbalanced and unhappy) to trusting and respectful (balanced and happy) and naturally the dog is going to resist giving up his dominant position, but that dog is so happy and laying down for belly rubs by the end of this episode. He is not forcing the dog into anything, he lets the dog make mistakes so he can guide him to the right answer then rewards him by letting him relax. He cant give the dog high voice "good dog!"s or pet him as in regular dog TRAINING because the dog doesnt trust people. He is gaining the dogs trust by helping him through his anxiety and distrust. Then he will give the affection when he is relaxed.

Science isn't 100%, and it's not the only way. It works, but this way works too otherwise he wouldn't be able to have a lot of dogs that have/has issues walk off leash together. Also, a kick isn't the same thing as a tap with your foot just like a punch isn't the same as a tap on the shoulder. He says that this is only his way and that you can find your own way if it isn't for you, unlike people who do the 'science' training who say that it's the only way. Just my opinion:)

If dog is submissive he feels safe, If a dog feels he is dominat he feels like he has to take care of any situation, and that result in aggressive behaviour.
Dogs feel emotions, and body language, if his leader is comfortable with something, he is too.
Most of the times there are simply persons that are not fit to have dogs or animals, and don't know them.

Real dog owners don't want a calm submissive animal. In fact calm submissive is only good if you are a prison guard, in every other relationship it is an unwanted trait.
Good owners want a proactive, engaged, willing companion. And when you look at the best dogs (seeing eye, police, S&R, competion) this is exactly what you see. These dogs aren't trained with Millan's methods because his techniques are only good for shutting down dogs.

I can say without equivocation that my dogs obey me and are calm and submissive because I use Cesar's techniques. I love my pups and I would NEVER hurt them., but I do use domination and Alpha to gain control and obedience. Contrary to what the anti-Millan people say, dogs need to know their place in the pack and who is the Alpha male, and that individual is ME.
And BTW I like Ian Dunbar he's an excellent trainer. I would like to see him and Cesar do an episode together.

It doesn't hurt him and it redirects him to me which is what Cesar does too. The collar up high is NOT choking. It's for stopping the dog from pulling(which bully dogs love to do) and giving low self esteem dogs confidence.
Yes Cesar was a groomer but he's far beyond that now. It's pitiful to see haters hatin' like yall are doing.

Human necks are almost the same and you can check this on yourself, it takes little pressure from two finger to create that feeling. I suspect that because it requires so little force, Millan has learned that this makes the punishment more acceptable to clients.

I certainly remember this episode. Tough dog. His owners took him to Cesar's 100th Episode party and they put his muzzle on. Even after all Cesar's work with Buddy they still didn't trust him. That dog was not socialized properly when he was a pup and was probably abused by his former owner too.
