Usually you don't have anything to worry about with bands that are close to the hand. So long as you don't make the shooting plane to close or even overlapping by pointing the slingshot to much, you should be okay.

But just to be sure, use real light bands and real light ammo until you get used to it.

It's really just a matter of practice, and then the confidence that will give you

  • great video, what bands are you using, do they come with the slingshot, they look a bit like bicycle inner tubes cut up, though theyre really crap usually

  • @artakisthebest

Those bands are made from exercise bands "theraband black".

  • I just ordered a ergonomic slingshot but I didnt know how to shoot it properly.

  • how do i get a life?

  • Can you explain some reasons im getting face slap, its making me gun shy, im 6ft 4 long arms so i really want to shoot butterfly just for the wow factor and speed, but this stinging face slapping is really getting to me.

  • @wdhmjm Maybe your holding it too close? try a longer band because most commercial slingshot bands (barnnetts, daisy, ect) are not for full butterfly

  • Best slings video on YouTube. Thanks for the help.

  • I noticed how you didn't flip your slingshot-holding hand out on the release all that much. I think that's what I've been doing wrong.

  • slingshots are epic!

  • Great video! Thanks for the help c: What's a good way to set up your target (and shooting area) so you don't lose ammo? What problems happen when you don't use proper ammo?

  • Thanks so much for the video that slingshot looks very cool. I have never used a slingshot before but my boyfriend and i plan to get each one soon. We plan to go do some boyfriend girlfriend slingshot practicing. lol I got interested in slingshots from a book i was reading. Anyone have any good suggestions for a beginner slingshot. We plan to buy one for each of us in the next few weeks.

  • Thanks. I have a Trumark Folding Slingshot. I just got and I didn't know how to shoot it accurately. It's too dark to go outside and shoot right now, but I pulled back the band and released a couple times while look at the mirror. I might try doing that and reading the letters on my shirt. Thanks again.

  • hey im left i dominant yet im right handed and shoot with the slingshot in my left hand, is this bad??

  • nice vid

  • what do I do if I am continuasly shooting low

  • @uniboy400

First, you'll want to make sure your bands are even in length. If the bottom band is even slightly shorter than the top band, it can contribute to shooting low.

Next, if that's not the problem, either your bands are to weak or your ammo is to heavy.

  • @MasterBillHays thanks

  • @MasterBillHays thank you very much big fan

  • thanks i made my own slingshot and i would always mess up but now my slingshot shoots rocks about 30 ft

  • Great video, but please set a good example and wear safety glasses!

  • Good video

  • Very nice video. You point out some really important things; smooth release, focusing the eye on the target, etc. Wich are all very important to get accurate with a slingshot. Keep it up!

  • Excellent video, Bill; thorough and easy to follow. Brilliant.
