L.A. Philharmonic is a fantastic orchestra with Esa-Pekka Salonen conducting. Hopefully it goes well for the new conductor, Gustavo Dudamel ;) Another great upload, these live performances has something more.....Thanks! for sharing :)

Yepp..he conducted this one last time in April, it was one of his final concerts, I couldn't make THE final concerts, but I made the ones the weekend before, and he conducted this..it was really nice. The first movement sounds so much more explosive with the timpani live. And even the very end was just so powerful..live sound's always so much better..

Esa-Pekka is one of the best conductors of the 20th century.. do u agree? :)

One of the best conductors of the 20th and 21st century. :P I'm really sad he left the LA Philharmonic, although I like Dudamel, but he's definitely not as good as Esa-Pekka Salonen. Salonen is very unique, and especially with Beethoven's 5th. Everybody always does it the same, but Salonen has a very fresh approach to it, which makes his recording stand out from all the others. It's as if he's coming to the piece like he's never heard it once in his life. I'm gonna miss this guy..

I'm also sad that he has left but he is coming back in November for two concerts, six performances. now all I have to do is be able to get tix. I'll bet they'll be sold out right away.

Yes, I heard, too! I don't care too much for Wagner so I was gonna try and get tickets for the Bartok concert.
