your palm is a natural string dampener. use as much palm as possible. to control string ringing and noise. it doesn"t necessarily have to be a muted note. to use your palm.
@Mayhem3033 fender actually make some very good guitars when it comes to hard rock and metal. I'm not talking 50's reissue strats, I'm talking the jim root signature models, flatheads, e.t.c.
@Mayhem3033 What guitar do you need for such an adventure? Jake E Lee pulled it off successfully for Ozzy! hmmm,,,Dave Murray for Iron maiden! dunno.....
@PhuckHue2 wtf? hendrix created metal?!! they are the furthest thing apart... metal is like the last thing hendrix would play. Sorry but hendrix is too beautiful to play metal
@geoff1121 more ignorance. it kills me how stupid American white people are. The record companies named it "metal". Jimi just called it music. The Nazis tried to change reality and it didn't work for them. you can't stop reality from being real.
@PhuckHue2 im not american.. i have more respect for hendrix than anything. Why the fuck are u bringing nazis into this? If you seriously think hendrix played metal than you have some funny sense of music. tell me how they even sound remotely alike. If you are saying the term "metal" is simply created by the industry and should not be defined by what most people would consider it as, then you really shouldn't be using that term urself saying hendrix played 'metal'
@PhuckHue2 no shit jimi played music. you think you're all deep and stuff saying how record companies named it "metal".... you are pretty much saying all musical genres are useless definitions for different types of music. You can trace it back and say the term 'music' is irrelevant cos it some ancient dude simply called it that. You should refer music as sound waves then. But arnt sound waves simply particles ? there is no end to this argument, u might as well deny language itself
@geoff1121 you're trying to say metal isn't music?
I agree Hendrix was awesome, and yeah he wasn't playing metal, more like heavy blues but "Sorry but Hendrix is too beautiful to play metal" sounds like you'd take a huge dump on metal, which I'm (not) sorry to say is something dumber than a thing a pop-fan would say.
@RemusStelistu i had no intentions to say metal isn't music, to say that hendrix is too beautiful to play metal was my bad, i should have respect for any kind of music, my bad. Its just that hendrix's music is so good to me, being compared to another genre that i don't quite appreciate flips me off a little. But again, music is music, its a matter of how one thinks it should be about, metal is simply not on my playlist. peace
@geoff1121 If there is any genre of music that you don't like that just means you haven't heard enough of it. Opeth and Acid Bath are both "beautiful metal" bands. If it's more of a blues thing you're into. Rollins Band, Black Label Society, and Kyuss are nice too. Earthen Grave fits both of these categories quite nicely but good luck finding any of their music outside of myspace.
@InKa4484 I find it hard to agree with your point, if you don't like a particular type of music, listening to it more doesn't make you like it, if anything you just become accustomed to it. Just like a fart in a small room, your brain gets used to the smell and you don't smell it anymore. sorry terrible simile there but you get my point.
@geoff1121 You didn't understand my point. Everyone can identify with one song of every genre of music, wether or not they will ever hear those songs is unknown. I used to hate rap and country music, and then i heard a rapper who actually had something to say and realized that what i thought was country was actually shitty pop music with a redneck accent. I'm sure there is a metal band out there for you it's up to you to find it.
@InKa4484 i see where youre going. I guess its just that the things that define and generalize metal turn me off. The use of genre IS a form of generalization after all. Most metal music iv listened to are simply showcases of technicality and showmanship. The only 'good' metal bands imo are the ones that at least attempt to portray emotion, but most of time its either hate or death. Which are some of the main themes that characterize metal, and thats the kinda stuff i dislike. "wheres the love?"
@geoff1121 Yeah i can see that, but the one emotion that's always made metal stay with me is sadness. I myself having a wide range of emotions, listen to a wide variety of music, but the only kinds of music that has good sounding sad songs to me are labelled as metal, grunge and classical. If i wanna listen to happy music i'll listen to the beatles or queen. If i'm not in such a great mood i'll listen to acid bath, alice in chains, or bach.
@InKa4484 Yeah that i agree. sadness is the constant focus. But i noticed how most bands tend to aim to relate to their audience when writing songs, and with this concept in mind first, they become more of entertainers, and less of musicians, which is what makes the pop scene so terrible in producing real music. Only the ones who don't have that in mind and creates music in whatever way they feel from deep down, is the type of music i enjoy.
crap what the hell is a5 - or b5 or c5 i really need to learn how to play with my guitar iam actually doing any thing with it but it sound's cool idk a7 or b7 -.-
@wiiwouldntliketoplay It has both the highest peak and the lowest valley on the mainland. If you'd like to buy me a plane ticket and have a spare bedroom I'll gladly come out and take a look around.
Also just out of curiosity of knowing who was correct I was pretty sure Mt. McKinley in Alaska had the highest peak by far and to no surprise I was correct, although somthing that did surprise me was the fact that Mount Whitney is the eleventh highest peak.
@wiiwouldntliketoplay Yes, well you are right. To a point. If I can make myself clear - the contigious U.S.A. which basically means that big bit on the map between Canada and Mexico.
The best thing ever to come out of Alaska is Anastasia Blue. Sadly no longer with us...look her up on Google. But not whilst the wife or g/f is in attendance.
lol, Yes I know what the contiguous USA is, and judging by the fact its a single artist named anastasia I'm guessing I won't like her considering the lightest modern day band I listen to would be rhcp (and I mainly listen to metal core) but hey I'll check it out anyway, music is music and everybody has there own unique taste in it, mine just doesn't lie within the billboard top 20.
Now im really new to guitar and only have an accoustic as of right now while i learn to play. Bar chords are a pain though literally, is that cause my strings are new or because my hands are weak? I use a tennis ball to try to strengthen them but i was curious. Also is it because its an accoustic vs electric? The sound is different but are the strings as well?
@TheMazeFamily your hands are weak. it could also be bad positioning. t's the same regardless of acoustic vs electric. don't worry about the tennis ball, the best way to strengthen them is to keep practicing them on guitar.
@safenders HA I was thinking the same thing their manerisms and the way they talk are so similar. they must have known each other for years and pick up on each others habits.
