@geoff1121 If there is any genre of music that you don't like that just means you haven't heard enough of it. Opeth and Acid Bath are both "beautiful metal" bands. If it's more of a blues thing you're into. Rollins Band, Black Label Society, and Kyuss are nice too. Earthen Grave fits both of these categories quite nicely but good luck finding any of their music outside of myspace.

I used to hate rap and country music, and then i heard a rapper who actually had something to say and realized that what i thought was country was actually shitty pop music with a redneck accent. @InKa4484 i see where youre going. I guess its just that the things that define and generalize metal turn me off. The use of genre IS a form of generalization after all. Most metal music iv listened to are simply showcases of technicality and showmanship. The only 'good' metal bands imo are the ones that at least attempt to portray emotion, but most of time its either hate or death. Which are some of the main themes that characterize metal, and thats the kinda stuff i dislike. "wheres the love?"

@geoff1121 Yeah i can see that, but the one emotion that's always made metal stay with me is sadness. I myself having a wide range of emotions, listen to a wide variety of music, but the only kinds of music that has good sounding sad songs to me are labelled as metal, grunge and classical. If i wanna listen to happy music i'll listen to the beatles or queen. If i'm not in such a great mood i'll listen to acid bath, alice in chains, or bach.

But i noticed how most bands tend to aim to relate to their audience when writing songs, and with this concept in mind first, they become more of entertainers, and less of musicians, which is what makes the pop scene so terrible in producing real music. Only the ones who don't have that in mind and creates music in whatever way they feel from deep down, is the type of music i enjoy.

Also just out of curiosity of knowing who was correct I was pretty sure Mt. McKinley in Alaska had the highest peak by far and to no surprise I was correct, although somthing that did surprise me was the fact that Mount Whitney is the eleventh highest peak.

Now im really new to guitar and only have an accoustic as of right now while i learn to play. Bar chords are a pain though literally, is that cause my strings are new or because my hands are weak? I use a tennis ball to try to strengthen them but i was curious. Also is it because its an accoustic vs electric? The sound is different but are the strings as well?
