Were these interviews required by the Pentagon or something? They're overly antiseptic and prim and the wonderful subjects in these interviews seem like they've been dragged before a tribunal.
There's a riotous hilarious clip on YT of his appearance as a mystery guest on What's My Line? (where he was a semi-regular panelist) where he and Buddy Hackett get into a mock verbal fight. Always so erudite and funny. Thanks for all the great entertainment, Mr. Randall.
Fred, what we want is, I think, what everyone wants, and what you and your viewers have: civilization.
The niceties, Fred. The fine points: diplomacy, compassion, standards, manners, tradition... that's what we're reaching toward. Oh, we may stumble along the way, but civilization, yes. The Geneva Convention, chamber music, Susan Sontag. Everything your society has worked so hard to accomplish over the centuries, that's what we aspire to; we want to be civilized.
I like the part about 90% unemployment and how he was always looking for work and the fact he pounded the pavement at all time for work-- from 8:20 moment on
I agree: 'cuz he's so "old-school." I remember him almost arguing with Dick Clark on the Pyramid show, about the definition of the word "jar." He is/was a stickler about detail. Gotta' love him.

What a great voice! Listen to those pipes. Orson Welles had a great set of pipes as well.

Its sad that these great voices such as Charlton Heston, Richard Burton,
John Huston, William Conrad, Ossie Davis, Tony Randall and others,
have been silenced forever except for archived recordings and films.
Listen sometime to Randall reciting "Have Some Madeira, M'Dear". Its
a hilarious classic and nobody does it like he did.

His voice hasnt changed all that much since I last heard him in his movies with Hudson and Day.
He had a good, strong voice. Distinctive voice.

I think Randall's comedic talents are extremely underrated. When he wanted to be, he was one of the funniest guys I have ever seen.
Has anyone here ever seen his guest spots on Conan 'O Brien? He had me doubled over in every one of those appearences!
Too bad... I can't find any on YouTube. (?)

Does anyone know when he die ? is jack k still alive ?
melvis777 3 years ago
Tony Randall died 17 May 2005; Jack Klugman is, to the best of my knowledge which isn't much, still alive.

I think he died in 2004, actually. Klugman is, indeed, still alive.

Me too. I don't think he's being unnecessarily picky. It's probably annoying to him to hear it.

but you actually can use "impact" as a transitive verb....I don't see his point!?

When you look up "actor" in the dictionary, they should have Mr. Randall's picture there.
What a great guy, great actor. What joy and laughter you've brought to millions. Thanks
