  • are these nozzelless or do they have a nozzle ?

  • @Ralphgtx280 They do have a nozzle, approximately 1x the tube ID of bentonite rammed quite hard, but as they're only 6mm it usually stays put. Even if the nozzle blows out I guess they would still fly once they're up to pressure.

  • @pyromaniac303 cool thanks Ill be pressing not ramming (not keen on ramming this kind of comp) have you tried replacing the Barium nitrate for strontium nitrate ? (I would imagine a less powerful rocket but may still work)

  • That's an incredibly fast burning fuel. I assume these CATO a lot? They're quite entertaining to watch, I would love to use 20 small ones as inserts in an aerial bombette.

  • @PyroChemicals with them being so small, the pressures aren't that high so they're surprisingly reliable. Can get away with a tube down to around 1.5mm wall thickness without any CATOs.

    I press them in small increments, and as long as the delay above the core is more than 10mm they seem to have no trouble. One of the main reasons they get going so fast is I put a pinch of meal +5% silicon in to get them lit, so the core is up to pressure in a fraction of a second!
