what's great about the 2012 model is that it handles supremely well in the twisties. i'm so impressed with kawasaki churning out new and innovative bikes. just the past couple of years, they gave us a new 650r, ninja1000, z1000, and now this insane superbike zx14r!
195 rwhp is serious hp but its not gonna "smoke" any 1 litre sportbike in the curves. Its too heavy. My slightly modded '07 GSXR makes 171rwhp on the same dyno. Most tests Ive seen of the BMW show around 180-185rwhp on a dyno jet dyno... The new zx-14 should be a great bike but its still big and heavy. Thats a huge disadvantage...
To all of you people that are only concerned about Dyno numbers.... Learn how to ride first. I will take any of you HP posers on a 2012 ZX14 against an old ninja 650 I have sitting in my garage... And smoke your ass on a curvy road. That,s about 55hp vs 189hp.
@elvulch Dyno numbers are important. I know where you are coming from but you gotta admit it, these bikes are made for a straight line. Nothing beat cubes and horses in a staright line until a certain point where excessive power makes you spin and shit.
You get 190hp from a stock s1000rr and your getting 188hp from a stock zx14...but i think i know witch ones heavier...? therefore s1000rr will still beat it
@Nailed15 You are retarded! s1000rr's don't make 190HP at the wheel. s1000rr's make 168HP on dyno. Fuck I hate people who read manufacturer's rated HP and compare it to dyno readings.
@finnsk3 How the fuck was i supposed to know? and id rather take advice from the manufacturer's than from some little grease monkey and 163hp..bullshit
@Nailed15 So basicly you know nothing about motorbikes or dyno's but you say s1000rr makes more power than the new zx14r... you are an idiot. s1000rr makes a lot less power than the new ZX14R. ZX14R makes 195HP on dyno, s1000rr makes 168HP on dyno. Go learn how dyno's work before posting here. Dyno readings are far more accurate than manufacturers claimed HP. It is quite easy for a manufacturer to make up bogus HP figures.
@finnsk3 S1000RR have dynoed to at least 191hp, so they are not that far apart. Some as low as 180hp as well. Also dep. on the dyno, altitude, temperature, humidity, setup, tester ...
@finnsk3 Serch for S1000RR dyno, and first hit show 192hp pre ex, and 198hp after. I would trust both dyno run (S1000RR and ZX14) at the same level (that is ... not tested by me).
@Nailed15 190rwhp from the S1000RR? You gotta be in la la land. 195rwhp for the new ZX14R is correct. Add in the aerodynamic fairings that it has on and bye bye S1000RR.
Nice! I got an 06 ZX-14 and will probably upgrade. Quick question though... Why didn't Ricky redline the 2011? Looks like he cut the throttle early on the 2011 pulls, but redlined the pulls on the 2012? Am I missing something here??
LMAO, at the 6:00 minute mark, the first 2 runs the 2012R makes 189+, then the 3rd run it makes 188. slightly less, not more. Gadson then hops off the bike to take a phone call, theres a break in the video, then the next run the bikes makes a whopping 7 more HP at 195+? I guess 188 isn't as shocking as 195. LMAO is all I will say.
As for not redlining the 2011 zx14 as you can clearly c the power was falling off fast. In other words peak hp would not of been any better.

Firstly I own both an s1000rr and zx14r. The power delivery is completely different. The s1000rr is a complete sponge until 7k and then around

This bike is incredible, my '07 made 171hp at the wheel stock, gonna be tough not to trade her in, she has 50,000 miles and never let me down.

The real reason the guy put his phone in the video is because he was trying to show all this was done in the same time frame.
