  • Great pattern! What kind of floss is it that you are using? It doesn't look like the usual 4 strand material?

  • Hi Inconnu2006,

    The floss I used is by Uni, another I like to use is their Uni-Flexx...

    All the best Davie

  • hi Davie

    Great pattern i will definately try this on Corrib, Mask and Derg next season. Can you tell me the pattern of the McPhails wet mayfly which Basil Sheilds sells in the flies of Ireland (i take it its your tying!!) i had great success with it in Lough Corrib and Mask this season. Or any other good wet mayfly patterns you could recommend

    thanking you for all the great tips

  • Hi Fergusrambler,

    I just spoke to Basil and yes the fly that you bought is one of mine. It's great to think that this fly does so well and as Basil feels that it's one of his top wet mayfly patterns.

    The dressing is;

    Tail, Pheasant Tail dyed Lime Green

    Rib,Chartreuse Floss

    Body, White Rabbit dyed light olive

    Body Hackle, Light Olive Cock or Grizzle

    Hackle, French Partridge dyed Yellow

    Head, Olive Rabbit fur.

    All the best Davie
