Ben franklin killed pigs with them jars he made! and here we are two hundred years later, and no one has figured out how to charge a battery with a VDG.
i noticed that you can loosely predict the time gap between the sparks :
1st spark : 0 sec- 11 sec.
2nd spark : 11 sec. - 33 sec. --------> i predicted the 2nd spark to be at 20 sec, but i was wrong ! it was at 33, 13 seconds after the predicted first . so figured out that it can be a pattern: What if i double the initial( it becomes 26). So the 3rd spark must be 59.
3rd spark: this happens at 53. Seems my calculation is wrong, but the result was close to 59.
aso one last thing, is it more dangerouse to get shocked doin what you did' by charging up the layden jar u made?? does that make it have more energy or amps? cuz i know the van de graaf by it self doesnt produce . somethin of a amp, lol
Yeah the VDG only has .27 micro amps, or .027 amp, it wont hurt you, the jar stores it up over a larger surface area and gives you enough current to kill, One hit from it and your dead, this is not a toy.
hi i really like your quality work in putting that thing together, i am almost done building mine, since yours is doing a good job in producing good voltage i was just wondering, i read somewhere that said it is better to put the brushes on the side where the belt is rolling away or off from the roller, does this matter or do you know which side works better to put the brushes at and can i put brushes on both sides of one roller to make it more effective, or to eliminate guessing??
LOL, i have my finger over the microphone, it made my phone sound like crap if I didnt, just at the end I take it off and you can hear the VDG running....
just a 0.5 L water plastic bottle has Al foil in and out side is enough to hurt me.
I hope that you will not unexpectedly touch it.

@nickademuss42 0.027 amps is 27 milliamps (mA for short) not microamps
