everyone has their preferences, so no one is right. Besides, how can you compare a device focused on multimedia that started with only music players to a device mainly focused on gaming? but personally, i prefer the PSP because i'm more of a gamer and i have an ipod nano 4th gen for music. Also, i don't really dig the touchscreen, i'd rather have physical buttons to push, it just MY preference though. To each his own.
Yes, ipod touch is taking over the handheld market......it has one feature that psp or ds does not have. YOU CAN WATCH TV ON IT!!! And the games are psp quality and are cheaper and it has super fast internet.
well the last year it was cool to own a psp or DS was 2007...when the ipod touch came out that shit was a true revolutionary device.to be honest i do not think anyone wants a ds or a psp anymore because they're probably boring now .. the world saw what it can do which was jack shit now that we are in 2010.
@jordananthonyruiz actually DS is still pretty kick ass because you can just get an R4 and get a bunch of free games and the game are 100x better than the ones for ipod, i have an ipod touch but i prefer games on DS anyday.

okay okay. Lets see Ipod touch has the same quality graphics as a psp....the games are cheaper and you can watch youtube,you have a way way faster internet browser.You can carry all your games on one device(the psp go can do that,but the games take forever to download.)

@Airking11 no youre wrong. psp graphics straight up own ipod graphics( i have both). the games have better controls on psp. if you have custom firmware on psp and a good memory card(like me) you can take up to 20 games with you. ipod is not more powerfull if youre looking at graphic cards, wich matters the most at gaming.
With that being said, ipod touch is witout doubt one of the best devices out there right now.( also because of its price)
@kaarthuis no they are pretty much the same graphics. Did you see the game at the end of the video? The motorcross game were the guy did a backflip? Same graphics as a psp game. And touch grind is another good example and also avatar.And fps like nova and modern combat have the same graphics as psp. They have the same graphics but not many games actully use them. Have you played monster truck nitro 2?. Its a new game in the app store and has the same graphics as a psp game.
compare youre monster truck nitro 2 to even a simple game like soul calibur broken destiny(not on youtube but if you really put them next to each other). then tell me its pretty much the same.

@Airking11 If you're referring to Epic Citadel, I agree, the visuals are amazing, but keep in mind that it's a tech demo of the Unreal Engine. It isn't a game, it has no AI or any other real game content. Don't expect real games to have this good of graphics.
@Airking11 iPod touch absolutely doesn't have as high quality games. Would you rather play Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories? or Gameloft's Gangster, a lousy rip off that sucks. Oh and don't forget that PSP still has a better GPU, even if it isn't capable of running as new of APIs.

@Airking11 The iPhone does not have PSP graphics, trust me, I own an iPhone 4 and a PSP. The PSP has a better GPU, and although iPod supports better APIs, making it technically capable of nicer visuals, the frames won't always keep up. Unreal is on iPhone now, so iPhone will be seeing some nicer looking games. Either way, PSP has better graphics than iPhone for now.
@Airking11 no... no it really really doesn't. Look, you're arguing against the facts here, the GPU in the PSP beats the PowerVR chip in the iPhone in vertex performance and texture fill rate. I own both devices, the PSP has better graphics now. Which do I like more? I'd take my iPhone 4 over a PSP any day because it does everything else great, and with Unreal, games are going to get better, but you can't deny that the PSP has better graphics right now.

@travproductions First, the iPod touch 4 is not clocked at 1 GHZ, it's most certainly down clocked, second, THE PROCESSOR ISN'T WHAT MATTERS HERE. The sooner die hard apple fans understand this the better. PSP does not run a full OS in the background therefor, it doesn't require as much CPU power or RAM. What is important is the GPU, the PSP beats the iPod's GPU in both texture fill rate and vertex performance. Look at a game like GTA China Town Wars, it looks way better on PSP than iPhone.

Second, the iPod touch 3rd gen and 4th gen have pretty much the same power. One has a slightly faster processor, but the GPU is the SAME. So no, the 4G is not "way faster" they even have the same amount of RAM. So why the hell didn't iPod 3rd gen get "those graphics"? All iPod games won't get those graphics after Christmas... period.
@ATLMember Do you live under a rock? It has been confirmed epic citidial will be made into a full game by christmas and the engine is open to app makers with permission. So that means psp will be DEAD by 2011 or 2012 unless sony makes the psp into a mini ps3 or something. And most psp games have ps1 graphics lately sure god of war and socom are amazing but ipod touch games are getting way better at graphics since of the ipod touch 4g and iphone 4
@Airking11 I KNOW ABOUT FUCKING PROJECT SWORD. There will be a handful of simple games that can utilize unreal and have similar graphics to those scene in epic citadel. When you really factor in AI and other things though, iPod won't be able to keep up. The PSP offers tons of PS2 quality games, every game for PSP I've played has way better graphics than iPod touch and way more content. Gameloft makes crap corder shooters and rip offs, PSP has real games. Chinatown wars for both says all.

Nova and modern combat are shit linear games that just poorly rip off other FPS shooter games, they don't compare to PSP shooters. On top of all that, you can't back up save games on iPhone, that's an issue.

@Airking11 PSP looks just like PS2 in many cases, LCS and VCS stories are perfect examples. PSP does have better graphics than iPhone, end of story. I'm not at all a PSP fanboy, I told you I own an iPhone 4 and I've been gaming on iPhone for a lot longer than PSP. I've only had a PSP for a couple of weeks, and I've had a first gen iPod touch since a while ago, then an iPhone 4 more recently. I've always thought iPhone was better until I got a PSP and was able to actually compare.

@Airking11 Real Racing 2 DOES NOT HAVE XBOX 360 GRAPHICS, neither does Infinity Blade, though it's a hell of a lot closer, its a racing game, so its very linear. @Airking11 No no no no no, the cars don't look better at all, I own both, take another look at the cars in Miami Vindication, they're just boxes with a texture stretched over them, no damage, on PSP, the cars in Vice City stories (and there's about 10x more of them) actually have nice shading on them and have good deformation (doors fall off), and have breaking windows, you can actually see the driver, and shoot the driver. Overall the game has way better graphics than Miami Vindication.
@ATLMember Miami vindication cars have reflections and gloss to them,, and they are not boxes and they do have damage, it's just that the doors do not fly off, So the cars in that game are more polished.all the 3d Grand theft auto games except for 4 and chinatown wars put they same type of cars and never changed the damaging, so all they did was just take gta 3 make a new character and place him in a new city and add a story line that's all they did, miami vindication was a improvement

@Airking11 The benchmarks show that the PSP is capable of pushing more polygons and has better fill rate, considering how much lower res the PSP screen is than the iPhone, that fact puts the iPhone at somewhat of a disadvantage. For me, the iPhone is worthless as a gaming system because it has no good games, just uninspired Gameloft rip offs. The PSP is alright, but I will be selling it as I could just game on my computer, which is the best experience of all. DS is the winner in handhelds.

@Airking11 Congrats man, you've been arguing about power with me the whole time and it took you that long to look up the specs. Unfortunately, you like every 12 year old, have missed the point of them, so I'll explain. The processor in the iPhone is much faster as you've likely noticed (running about 800 MHZ, under-clocked from 1 GHZ in iPhone 4) there is also more RAM. This is because iPhone runs a full OS, unlike the PSPs. Now lets talk about GPU, as that is what matters in our argument.

What is more powerful is not a black and white argument, the iPhone's powerVR chip is newer and therefor supports better APIs. The iPhone also has the processor advantage, though its unclear if that really matters.
@Airking11 Let me explain to you why Infinity Blade is possible, its because its incredibly linear with tiny levels and almost no AI or people, when you make a game so narrow in scope, it's easy to squeeze out amazing graphics. Grand Theft Auto games on the other hand require a processor and GPU intense streaming engine that takes easily 10x more to power. Look at Gangstar for iPhone, gameloft didn't give it GTA IV graphics because they didn't want too or couldn't figure it out, they couldn't.
@ATLMember gameloft does not make console games so they do not know how to make gta 4 graphics, rockstar can put gta 4 on the ipod touch 4g, they might have to take out a small island in the game but it would work. Gta 4 could run on it, it has been a fact since ipod touch 4g released that it can handle next gen games, so the company's making games are starting to make their games look like next gen, real racing 2 has next gen graphics, psp can't handle the graphics of real racing 2

@Airking11 The A4 chip plays a small part in performance, for the most part the only reason iPod touch 4 games would run better is due to better support for the hardware. I haven't found any games that run much worse on a friends 3GS than my iPhone 4, and don't forget that the iPod touch 4 is actually less powerful than the iPhone 4 because it has half the RAM

I am playing friggin san andreas on it......which is a game that psp owners have been waiting a long time for......you see now? Ipod touch 4g is best for gamers, you can play ps2 games,dreamcast, original xbox ect, and you dun have to pay for appstore games when you jailbreak, I know you can get free psp games on psp, but I have not seen san andreas runned on it without streaming through a pc

Honestly, it is a very good squeal that delivers on many fronts and is much better than West Coast Hustle. I am definitely enjoying it and it is a good game. That said, it still not even in the same league as Grand Theft Auto LCS, VCS, or CTW on the PSP. I agree that there wouldn't be many games around if every game had to be 100% original, but Gameloft rarely adds ANYTHING.

@Airking11 I respect your opinion, but consider all the things VCS has going for it. VCS has way better graphics, story, writing, voice acting, vehicle variety (in case you aren't aware it also has a helicopter as well as boats, tanks, bikes, etc), vehicle handling, weapon variety, music and DJs. It also has a bigger map (which is WAY more detailed), physical controls, further back draw distance and less pop in textures. I'm sure there is more, but I can't think of it. Also, I play CTW on PSP.

I think it is, doesn't it just seem more fitting to play on an itouch/phone outside at school or work? I think apple has hit the nail on the head with this, it just seems more mature than a ds or a psp. once they get it upgrading for more gaming capabilities then it can really hit the market.
well just sold my ds since i got my iphone better games by far also quicker loading times than the psp and better games for half the price like street fighter 4

The Itouch and Iphone are more of pocket computers that just happen to play games, but the games really kill your battery and usually you only fool around with them for 10 minutes, but the DSi and PSP are more quality games that are built specificly for gaming, so really, I don't think it's going to take over the gaming industry.
iPod touch is not a gaming device like psp or DSi. Its a music player that plays games. People should stfu about this, apple is NOT a gaming company like Nintendo, there is no comparison.
But, I'd still recommend iPod touch over a psp or DSi, any day.

everyone has their preferences, so no one is right. Besides, how can you compare a device focused on multimedia that started with only music players to a device mainly focused on gaming? but personally, i prefer the PSP because i'm more of a gamer and i have an ipod nano 4th gen for music. Also, i don't really dig the touchscreen, i'd rather have physical buttons to push, it just MY preference though. To each his own.

@Airking11 no youre wrong. psp graphics straight up own ipod graphics( i have both). the games have better controls on psp. if you have custom firmware on psp and a good memory card(like me) you can take up to 20 games with you. ipod is not more powerfull if youre looking at graphic cards, wich matters the most at gaming.
With that being said, ipod touch is witout doubt one of the best devices out there right now.( also because of its price)

And touch grind is another good example and also avatar.And fps like nova and modern combat have the same graphics as psp. They have the same graphics but not many games actully use them. Have you played monster truck nitro 2?. Its a new game in the app store and has the same graphics as a psp game.

@Airking11 If you're referring to Epic Citadel, I agree, the visuals are amazing, but keep in mind that it's a tech demo of the Unreal Engine. It isn't a game, it has no AI or any other real game content. Don't expect real games to have this good of graphics.

@Airking11 The iPhone does not have PSP graphics, trust me, I own an iPhone 4 and a PSP. The PSP has a better GPU, and although iPod supports better APIs, making it technically capable of nicer visuals, the frames won't always keep up. Unreal is on iPhone now, so iPhone will be seeing some nicer looking games. Either way, PSP has better graphics than iPhone for now.

@Airking11 no... no it really really doesn't. Look, you're arguing against the facts here, the GPU in the PSP beats the PowerVR chip in the iPhone in vertex performance and texture fill rate. I own both devices, the PSP has better graphics now. Which do I like more? I'd take my iPhone 4 over a PSP any day because it does everything else great, and with Unreal, games are going to get better, but you can't deny that the PSP has better graphics right now.

@travproductions First, the iPod touch 4 is not clocked at 1 GHZ, it's most certainly down clocked, second, THE PROCESSOR ISN'T WHAT MATTERS HERE. The sooner die hard apple fans understand this the better. PSP does not run a full OS in the background therefor, it doesn't require as much CPU power or RAM. What is important is the GPU, the PSP beats the iPod's GPU in both texture fill rate and vertex performance. Look at a game like GTA China Town Wars, it looks way better on PSP than iPhone.

Second, the iPod touch 3rd gen and 4th gen have pretty much the same power. One has a slightly faster processor, but the GPU is the SAME. @Airking11 I KNOW ABOUT FUCKING PROJECT SWORD. There will be a handful of simple games that can utilize unreal and have similar graphics to those scene in epic citadel. When you really factor in AI and other things though, iPod won't be able to keep up. The PSP offers tons of PS2 quality games, every game for PSP I've played has way better graphics than iPod touch and way more content. Gameloft makes crap corder shooters and rip offs, PSP has real games. Chinatown wars for both says all.

Nova and modern combat are shit linear games that just poorly rip off other FPS shooter games, they don't compare to PSP shooters. On top of all that, you can't back up save games on iPhone, that's an issue.

@Airking11 PSP looks just like PS2 in many cases, LCS and VCS stories are perfect examples. PSP does have better graphics than iPhone, end of story. I'm not at all a PSP fanboy, I told you I own an iPhone 4 and I've been gaming on iPhone for a lot longer than PSP. I've only had a PSP for a couple of weeks, and I've had a first gen iPod touch since a while ago, then an iPhone 4 more recently. I've always thought iPhone was better until I got a PSP and was able to actually compare.

Not only does Infinity Blade not have 360 quality graphics, Real Racing 2 DEFINITELY doesn't, but it is exactly as I suspected, incredibly small linear no AI, the PSP is completely capable of rendering a game or equal or higher quality graphics. @Airking11 No no no no no, the cars don't look better at all, I own both, take another look at the cars in Miami Vindication, they're just boxes with a texture stretched over them, no damage, on PSP, the cars in Vice City stories (and there's about 10x more of them) actually have nice shading on them and have good deformation (doors fall off), and have breaking windows, you can actually see the driver, and shoot the driver. Overall the game has way better graphics than Miami Vindication.

@ATLMember Miami vindication cars have reflections and gloss to them,, and they are not boxes and they do have damage, it's just that the doors do not fly off, So the cars in that game are more polished.all the 3d Grand theft auto games except for 4 and chinatown wars put they same type of cars and never changed the damaging, so all they did was just take gta 3 make a new character and place him in a new city and add a story line that's all they did, miami vindication was a improvement

@Airking11 The benchmarks show that the PSP is capable of pushing more polygons and has better fill rate, considering how much lower res the PSP screen is than the iPhone, that fact puts the iPhone at somewhat of a disadvantage. For me, the iPhone is worthless as a gaming system because it has no good games, just uninspired Gameloft rip offs. The PSP is alright, but I will be selling it as I could just game on my computer, which is the best experience of all. DS is the winner in handhelds.

@Airking11 Congrats man, you've been arguing about power with me the whole time and it took you that long to look up the specs. Unfortunately, you like every 12 year old, have missed the point of them, so I'll explain. The processor in the iPhone is much faster as you've likely noticed (running about 800 MHZ, under-clocked from 1 GHZ in iPhone 4) there is also more RAM. This is because iPhone runs a full OS, unlike the PSPs. Now lets talk about GPU, as that is what matters in our argument.

PSP
Vertex Performance (triangles per second): 33 Million
Fill rate (pixels per second) :664 Million
iPhone 4/3GS
Vertex Performance: 28 Million
Fill Rate: 500 Million
What is more powerful is not a black and white argument, the iPhone's powerVR chip is newer and therefor supports better APIs. The iPhone also has the processor advantage, though its unclear if that really matters.

@Airking11 Let me explain to you why Infinity Blade is possible, its because its incredibly linear with tiny levels and almost no AI or people, when you make a game so narrow in scope, it's easy to squeeze out amazing graphics. Grand Theft Auto games on the other hand require a processor and GPU intense streaming engine that takes easily 10x more to power. Look at Gangstar for iPhone, gameloft didn't give it GTA IV graphics because they didn't want too or couldn't figure it out, they couldn't.

@ATLMember gameloft does not make console games so they do not know how to make gta 4 graphics, rockstar can put gta 4 on the ipod touch 4g, they might have to take out a small island in the game but it would work. Gta 4 could run on it, it has been a fact since ipod touch 4g released that it can handle next gen games, so the company's making games are starting to make their games look like next gen, real racing 2 has next gen graphics, psp can't handle the graphics of real racing 2

First off, Gameloft knows how to console level games, they're the mobile branch of Ubisoft, the people behind Assassin's Creed 2 and Far Cry 2, second, everyone knows how to make games with good graphics, its not a fucking secret, third GTA WOULD NEVER RUN, get that out of your head, you really just don't understand, finally, the 3GS has the same fucking GPU as the iPod touch 4, its just as powerful

@Airking11 The A4 chip plays a small part in performance, for the most part the only reason iPod touch 4 games would run better is due to better support for the hardware. I haven't found any games that run much worse on a friends 3GS than my iPhone 4, and don't forget that the iPod touch 4 is actually less powerful than the iPhone 4 because it has half the RAM

@ATLMember oh and another thing I just jailbreaked my ipod touch 4g and guess what? I am playing friggin san andreas on it......which is a game that psp owners have been waiting a long time for......you see now? Ipod touch 4g is best for gamers, you can play ps2 games,dreamcast, original xbox ect, and you dun have to pay for appstore games when you jailbreak, I know you can get free psp games on psp, but I have not seen san andreas runned on it without streaming through a pc

@Airking11 Well, I waited 4 days to reply to this comment because I wanted to have played the game when I made a reply. Honestly, it is a very good squeal that delivers on many fronts and is much better than West Coast Hustle. I am definitely enjoying it and it is a good game. That said, it still not even in the same league as Grand Theft Auto LCS, VCS, or CTW on the PSP. I agree that there wouldn't be many games around if every game had to be 100% original, but Gameloft rarely adds ANYTHING.

@Airking11 I respect your opinion, but consider all the things VCS has going for it. VCS has way better graphics, story, writing, voice acting, vehicle variety (in case you aren't aware it also has a helicopter as well as boats, tanks, bikes, etc), vehicle handling, weapon variety, music and DJs. It also has a bigger map (which is WAY more detailed), physical controls, further back draw distance and less pop in textures. I'm sure there is more, but I can't think of it. Also, I play CTW on PSP.

@Airking11 iPod touch has only 256 megs of RAM by the way, iPod doesn't have games that look as good as PSP, one look at GTA Chinatown Wars will prove that much. The graphics are way better on the PSP, and it runs at a much nicer framerate. Don't give people crap about Epic Citadel by the way, it's a tech demo...

I think it is, doesn't it just seem more fitting to play on an itouch/phone outside at school or work? I think apple has hit the nail on the head with this, it just seems more mature than a ds or a psp. once they get it upgrading for more gaming capabilities then it can really hit the market.

The Itouch and Iphone are more of pocket computers that just happen to play games, but the games really kill your battery and usually you only fool around with them for 10 minutes, but the DSi and PSP are more quality games that are built specificly for gaming, so really, I don't think it's going to take over the gaming industry.

iPod touch is not a gaming device like psp or DSi. Its a music player that plays games. People should stfu about this, apple is NOT a gaming company like Nintendo, there is no comparison.
But, I'd still recommend iPod touch over a psp or DSi, any day.
