libby was convicted for being republican, and part of an administration that toppled a bloody regime with 1,300,000 victims, but was apparently not much threat to us. fitz had to know early that the 'leak' itself was not a crime, but pursued the investigation looking for inconsistencies in testimony, which he could then make to look like a concerted obstruction effort. in his last month, bush will pardon libby, and stick it to all of his critics in every way legally possible.

Libby was convicted of lying under oath and obstructing justice. Fitz can't know whether there was a crime because Libby obstructed the investigation by lying.
