  • Great job, I just bought one off E-bay and could not get it lit. I am going to try your instructions. Thank great video!

  • I have one of these - an older green model never new how to use it untell now!!! had it four 26 years. thank you so much.

  • I have one that is green with a button. Do you light it the same way? I'm so glad someone made this video. Keep them up since some of us are clueless LOL

  • Nice

  • Lovely! finaly i know how to light up mine lol! try to light those by putting gaz on top of it -_- make a nice fire =D! nice work man! Got 3 of those bady and man they heat up a good!

  • Use it in a BIG tent, over the years the tents have become smaller too, that is why coleman now makes 1500 BTU tent heaters. But back then we all had army size big tents. I just bought one on Ebay.

  • @sewdutch I inherited my dad's. Spent 2 days doing some minor repairs + waterproofing it. I also have this heater to use in it if it ever gets too cold!

  • Are these still manufactured by Coleman? I want one.

  • I have one of these heaters which I use in the bed of my truck which has a camper top and it works great. I crack a window slightly for safety. These are getting difficult to find.

  • LOL i just threw one of these away had it for over 20 years

    noxious fumes

  • Got one off of ebay the other day and didn't know how to use it, thanks!

  • I have one of these - an older green model. They work quite well, and are not particularly fume-laden. However - they do suck down the white gas!

  • Thanks for the transmission.

    ✭✭✭✭✭ Demonstration.

  • Thanks for posting. I had one in the garage and wanted to know how to make it work. Good job!

  • I have a propane burner catalyst and it says you can use them in a tent but I would not trust it. You can only wake up dead once.

  • Snuffer cap, I love it!

  • Glad you put this vid up, I scored one of these for free the other day and was wondering about how it was supposed to work.

I take it that it will burn untill the fuel in the catalyst burns out? Or does it actually "Wick" the fuel in the bottom up as it burns?

  • @supertramp71 Just had the exact same experience this evening when my big green heater arrived in the mail!

  • To turn it off, you just place the snuff cap back on to the burner head.

for fuel, you use camp fuel (Naptha). Its very inexpensive, cost 16$ at Canadian Tire for a 4L tin. and it will last you years.

  • How do you turn it off ?

  • they have lots of fuel for these kinds of heaters at target and kmart

  • hello

    I need your help

I have the same heater but i don't know

where I can to get de fuel?

what kind of fuel I need for de heater?

  • kerosene only. anything more flammable and it will flare up.

  • @UBERKron DO NOT USE KEROSENE, USE ONLY WHITE GAS, NAPTHA, OR COLEMAN FUEL.

  • kerosene for wick type. fuelite or coleman fluid for catalyst types

  • Awesome stove dude my dad has the same one but newer!

  • thanks for the video. i bought a '74 green coleman white fuel heater a few weeks ago at an antique store for $20. it doesn't have a scratch on it. works great but i'm not sure i'd trust it in a tent.

  • I am trying to find one...absolutely cannot find a white gas catalyst heater anymore, new!!! Seems stupidity (on behalf of unsafe users who like litigation after not reading the owners manuals) have made the manufacturers stop making them...opting for all propane!!! Try carrying enough 1-lb propane bottles on a 200-mile trip that lasts 1-month!!! Insane! 2-gallons of coleman fuel will do the same job!

  • IIfound the same one at a yard sale last year and tried differant fuel in it to see if it would work.. No luck had to use the same fuel as i do in the lantern . great buy lantern with metal case and heater $20 for both. and yes it works great in the tents.

  • so theres enough draft in the tent that the carbon monoxide wont build up. ive got one that was my grandparents and have been werry of taking it in a tent

  • Comment removed

  • Careful, I used it in our tent camping in November in Northern Ontario. we tarped the tent to keep the draft down, and luckily were smart enough to bring a portable carbon monoxide detector. At 4am it (detector) went off, but man it was worth having it go all night being it was -10 at the time. for the $20 I spent to buy this thing its well worth the money.

  • its safe to run that in a tent

  • excellent! just bought one in uk, can now give it a go, put lamp oil in?!

  • i used to have one, it works like a charm

  • Hey, great narration! LOL

Thats a neat little product. I have no friggin idea how it works, but it sure is cool, err...hot. Thanks for making the video

  • cool vid. I got a lantern for 16$ runs like a champ. Ive wanted a catalyst heater. Looks like it would work pretty good.
