It is refreshing & surprising to see these reporters and anchors speak about Ralph Nader without the usual smirks and smugness that they often reserve for him.

Not going to work. If uniting would mean the third party candidate would actually win the presidency then no one will agree on which candidate. Some of the third party candidates do not belong in the white house.
Introduce preference voting. If your first choice doesn't receive majority vote, your vote goes to the major party candidate you prefer. That way you can vote for a 3rd party candidate and not throw your vote away. Also probably get a 3rd party candidate elected some day as well.
I don't particularly like Bob Barr either HOWEVER even as a progressive I still want the Libertarian Party itself to do well having seen from Ron Paul what they stand for.
