I remember Jack and Susan playing "Tattletales" together. (Goodson-Todman game show with Bert Convy as host). Susan is the widow of actor Simon McCorkindale.
@CheckMate657879 Okay, good, sorry again for the mix-up. But do you ever read comments here that just make you groan and smack your forehead? I've stopped doing that for fear of concussion or permanent brain injury...
what has he thrown away? I had the pleasure of seeing him live many moons ago. he did the best thing and went into cabaret, where his audiences appreciated his superb voice. home thoughts from abroad is a great example of his lush style. he's had it all, money, classy women, what more could he want.
But believe it or not, Jack's British fans LOVE these songs with Susan George. Go figure. Yes, Jones displayed some poor judgment in the 70s, but he didn't really have much to lose anymore. He was already too old for the rock n roll generation, and the market for traditional pop had dried up (w/Sinatra & Bennett on temporary retirement). I'm glad that Jack has pulled out his bow tie and gone back to his roots again in his elder years. He's such a classy act when he's singing the great old songs.
Hello chipmalee. I think the answer is that it comes from an album from 1972 (probably released '73 by RCA) which is simply called 'Together' I have the original LP but not to hand at present, but I can tell you that the song is called 'That's the way I always heard it should be' a duet with Susan George, you will find it if you google it. Best wishes.
I think the track was 'that's the way I've always heard it should be. It was lovely. Can't recall the album it was on, I've got it on a JJ best of vinyl album
Hi chipmalee, I've been looking for this album 'Together' but sadly doesn't seem to be available on cd. The other susan george duet was 'We've Only Just Begun'. 'Your A Lady' was another fave of mine on this album. Remember, when it was crackly at first..then the strings came in. Awesome. Don't make them like that anymore.
Susan George is also in the movies 'Enter the Ninja' and 'Venom' (both 1981), as well as in two episodes of the original 'Roald Dahl's Tales Of the Unexpected', namely 'Lamb to the Slaughter' and 'Royal Jelly.' She also makes a very brief appearance on 'The Kenny Everett Video Show,' out on DVD. As you can probably tell, I've always had a bit of a thing for Susan!
Now she's into horses and has a web site. In some "recent" pictures she reminds me a bit of Olivia Newton-John... and what do you know, there's a picture of them together at Susan's horse ranch. Married actor Simon McCorkindale.
Too bad she "retired" all those years ago (late 80s.)
I know what we can do!! I'll be your beard if you let me sing on your show!!!

Does anyone know name and album of a song that Jack and Susan did a duet on? I remember borrowing the LP from the library when I was kid. Circa 1973.

Ugh, love truly makes people do the craziest things. What are the 5-star ratings for anyway? Couldn't be for Ms. George's singing!

1971, hmm? I didn't know JJ got his hands on this Paul Williams song before Helen Reddy had a big hit with it in the winter of 1973...

This was definitely 1971, sorry PacketDogg! I am a HUGE JJ fan and he was married to somebody else in 1977. He and Susan finished in 1972.
