Listened to all the versions (thanks to comments by youtube viewers) and have to say i like The Damned version best. This is purely because we all have different tastes and what appeals to me may not necessarily appeal to others. This version rocks for me. I think the others are great too, it's a great song after all, any good song in the right hands is do-able.

I remember this from "120 Minutes"; an amazing video. For a band that recorded a song titled "Edward the Bear," their version of this song really came out of nowhere and impressed the hell out of me.

It STILL impresses the hell out of me!!!!!!! Amazing.

I love both versions. I don't think The Damned killed anything with any spaghetti western influences that weren't in the original. They were just sending a great song out to a different generation. It all really depends on the listener. The fact that someone put a spaghetti western type vid to this tune can lead to misunderstandings.

I was thinking... The Damned does this much much better than the original singer; Brian (60's band Love) respectively. I really love how Vanian sings it... and the guitars are so moving! The mood is entirely different. The original comes out kinda of angry erm frustrated. This is a tremendous cover. :)
