  • Been waiting 50 years for this to be brought to the screen. Also hope its faithful to the great books. Should be great in 3D

  • In 2004 Paramount got the rights to film and it again languished in development hell. In 2006 Paramount chose not to renew the film rights, preferring instead to focus on their Star Trek franchise. In 2007 Disney got the rights to film the movie again. By 2008 they completed the first draft for Part One of a John Carter film trilogy; the first film is based only on the first novel and bits of the other two and was originally called John Carter of Mars. I like that title much better.

  • During the late 1950s famed stop-motion animation effects director Ray Harryhausen expressed interest in filming the novels, but it was not until the 1980s that producers Mario Kassar and Andrew G. Vajna bought the rights for Walt Disney Pictures, with a view to creating a competitor to Star Wars and Conan the Barbarian. The project collapsed because visual effects were not yet advanced enough to recreate Burroughs' vision of Barsoom. The rights eventually returned to the Burroughs' estate.

  • In 1931 Looney Tunes director Bob Clampett approached Edgar Rice Burroughs with the idea of adapting A Princess of Mars into a feature-length animated film. Burroughs responded enthusiastically, recognizing that a live-action film would not be able to adapt it accurately, It did not make it out of development. If it had it would have preceded Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to become the first American feature-length animated film.

  • @liamnaruto1 John Carter of Mars was a series of novels written in 1912, and a film of the books has been in development hell since the mid 1930s. The series has had a huge influence on media. In other words, everything else for the last 100 years has been using this for inspiration, and it's finally getting its own movie.

  • @radar550it's a remix of The Rhythm of The Heat by Peter Gabriel (you can also hear bits and pieces from his album Passion). There's a live version that sounds somehow close to the one in the trailer here watch?v=_7w1SrtNwHc&ob=av2e

  • @Melarancida Thank you!

  • @radar550 ;)

  • John Carter was written in the early 1900's (1912?) so ALL science fiction/Fantasy that you see now, owes itself to John Carter of Mars in some way.

  • LED ZEPPELIN FUCK YEAH!

  • Just so you know, George Lucas's Star Wars saga completely ripped off the books which this movie is based on.

  • Stupid movie looks like Phantom Menace. The nightmares are returning.

  • @tangymilk I dont think this is somehow similar to Star Wars but I am not sure about that Dysney is behind it (parental control and other crap). Tron legacy wasnt so great at all. There is simple solution for us I guess: dont like it dont watch it! But still there is some hope it will be good.

  • @tangymilk nah you are stupid, it is a movie, it is entertainment.

  • Looks like soulless CGI garbage.
