@989787777778787 No, an example of lightning's awesome power. Why doesn't your god cure cancer, or stop little kids from being raped if he's so powerful?
Why? you ask? Well it might give those terrorists ideas. They'll be able to make bombs out of ordinary trees. And that might lead to a world-wide ban on trees. Terrible situation that would be.
Narberth, Pennsylvania -- that's where Collectables' Records is located! -- their specialty being to reissue older music (esp. Golden Oldies) at affordable prices. What if the incident happened to them?

this happened to a tree outside my bedroom window i was taking it easy toking a bowl and BOOOOOM woke me right up. my bedroom window was open and i moved my curtain to see what the hell it was and there was fifty pencil sized splinters in my screen. i got lucky the screen stopped my tree was completely splintered.
Well, the lightning turned that maple tree into sugar. Not all of it of course, as it was the super-boiled sap that crystallized into sugar. Didn't you hear about people coming up to that struck-down tree with their cups of tea and teaspoons, and helping themselves to some nice, nature-made maple sugar?
a tree in our back yard was recently struck by lightning. probably a 80 or 90ft slash pine. Half of the back was blown off the tree and it is cracked right down the middle all the way up. 5 windows on the back of the house were broken and the telephone and cable boxes were blown off the house. Many of our electronics in the house were fried. when you witness its immense power first hand you have a new respect for it.
When I was a kid the local park had a oak tree stump in it. The tree had been planted in bloody Mary’s’ time to replace all the wood used to burn protestant heretics. A local jock as lots of locals had been burned at the stake in that time. The tree was hit in the winter of 1922 and bits of it killed two sheep over two hundred feet away. You can still see the damage on the walls of the house that got hit and its over thirty yards from the tree.
I saw an oak get hit by lightning where I live. It shredded a portion of the tree away and blew some of the root structure out of the ground. The culprit from your video must have been a "positive" strike to do that much damage. I think only a few percent are this type.
A similar thing can happen in extreme cold, the sap and moisture in the tree freezes, expands, has nowhere to go so it ruptures the tree. Usually more like a gun shot than an explosion though.
just imagine telling your insurance that s tree blow up and sent chunks of tree into your house i wonder if they will then your full of shit..........
the sap in pines and maples contains water which gets instantly vaporized when lightning strikes the tree...hence those two types of trees are most likely to go BOOM (as opposed to others which will split sometimes and have a chance of surviving a lightning strike.

This was no doubt a POSITIVE lightning strike. These strikes can contain more then 340, 000 amperes or 1 billion volts which in return creates deafening thunder. They are rare and only make up 5% of all strikes in a storm and because of this positive its likely the THUNDER was just as impressive as the strike. The thunder was FOR SURE devastating. Also combined with the explosion of the tree it wouldn't surprise me if a few windows near by cracked.
I agree, a normal strike just strips some bark off and possibly lights the tree on fire, I have seen many trees that have been hit by lightning. 100% accurate.
Exact that I think too.We call then here Cold and Hot Lightning. This was definitive at Hot one. Here in a Village not far away a Hot lighting hit a House. After the Hit there was nearly all the whole Roof Bricks down. That in some Milliseconds. They have lcu kthat the Firefighter wher fast there and can Check the House for Fire. But there was no.But all Electric cabels and electronic device where Broken or melt.
Lightning took out a tall tree in my backyard, and the same thing happened, wooden shrapnel all over the yard. It happened late at night, and we were all indoors safe from all that flying crap. The lightning strike did burn out several light bulbs in the house. Nothing else damaged, but this, back in the early 60's there were no computers and such in the house to blow up back then.
Sounds incredible but I have seen similar cases enen with one meter diameter trees looked like a peeled banana after the strike, believe me it was impressive
CLEARLY its not and the lightning bolt was indeed a "positive cloud to ground strike" the most deadliest of strikes which also cause the deadliest of thunder.
