zaxophne - If you study the sheet music from any source other than "The Real Book", you will find that this recording chops out 4 bars of the song. He does that because he got the song from the erroneous version in the Real Book, and nobody around him was hip enough to know it was wrong. That is no small error. It means that not only is HE superficial, but he is surrounded by superficiality.

Kenny Gee gets blasted a lot by musicians for being unhip. Certainly he has great chops. And I have defended him in the past. HOWEVER..what he is playing on this recording is WRONG WRONG WRONG. It is the INCORRECT version as it appears in the Real Book. The fact that he didn't know it at the time of this recording (you can bet your ass he knows it NOW)..and the fact that his arranger, and other musicians in the group didn't know it..is APPALLING. Now I know how unhip he really is.
