@megasterlove it really depends what colour horse you have :) i find thst shampoos ment for grey horses work best on greys because they have a littke bit of blue in them and it really helps the colour to pop out, but if have just a bay horse you could use any shampoo you want i use pantene sometimes or if its there first bath after a while and theyre really greasy i use dish soap :)
This lady is very good at what she does. All the expert village videos with her are flawless. This is really helping me renew my horse knowlege after a 28 yr haitus.
Heey, well i dont own a horse but i am 13 and i work in this aniaml farm. It is volunteer work and i have a lot of fun. There is a Shetland and he is 27 years old and he easilt gets frustrated so does anyone maybe have some tips for me??? I also myself feel off a horse and i still didn't completely get over my fear :P
lol pause at 0:51 funny the horses eyes got all wide. BTW, ya'll are right. you should have let the horse smell the substance before you applied it. that is why the horse was spooked a little bit. and once a month seems pretty good...because bathing can take away the natural oils of the horse. grooming does not though. you can groom thouroughly during the winter. grooming doesn't really take away the natural oils.... anyways......
yah.... i agree but if it's winter and your trying to loose the winter coat you want to get rid of the shedding hair. So it doesn't build up on your horse's coat. So therefore you should require a thorough grooming.... but your always supposed to thoroughly groom your horse. it doesn't really take that much "natural oils" out of their coat. esp. if their shedding which was what i was implying....? So in a way we're both correct.
before shampooing the horse you should of let her smelt it and get a feel of what is going to happen you started so suddenly so it spooked the horse. beautiful horse btw
lol i feel sorry 4 the horse because when kelly just started to scrub the horse, the look on the horse's face was like "WAIT WHAT ARE YOU DOING???" i would have let the horse smell the itme i was washing him/her withand then started to rub slowly then into a a little fast rub to let the horse relax
Is that your horse? This video is a good video... because if anyone needs to know about how to shampoo a horse, they will understand... add more videos about horses!
you can bathe your horse maybe once a month or every 2 weeks. it depends on how messy your horse gets! my horse doesnt really get that dirty so i normally bathe her every two weeks or before shows. I like shiny horses! lol. but ya u cant bathe ur horse too many times. during the winter though just give them a thorough grooming! hope that helped! :)
I usually do it once a week to ensure my horse's skin doesn't have any dirt or sweat itching him or any fungal development. And it also depends on the temperature of where you live. If you life in a cold place, make sure that when you are done bathing, the horse is in a warm temperature with a sweat sheet on to allow him to dry properly.
i would suggest using a tougher sponge for those of you who havent done this before. those mits are almost identical to the ones you use on human babies which mean they are very very gental and are harder to get down deep. if you put the soap on with a sponge use a rubber curry to get down deep. for sensitive places such as the armpits (or whatever they are called on a horse) use a soaked rag.
actually, yeah. it doesnt look rubber like the ones i have. probably because - pleasure horse.. therfor sensitive skin. (as most are bred like.. you know pleasure horses XD)
Baby shampoo works really well on horses , and is ALOT cheaper

They make horse shampoo but a lot of people tend to just use mild human shampoo. Either way works fine.
