it's melodic hardcore. More poppy, but most certainly hardcore. Yeah, melodic type hardcore, is close to the punk rock you mentioned. Don't forget, bad religion, is/was a hardcore band, too. They're a bit more of a poppy sound now, but still good.

ignite is about the same as rise against, labelled as melodic hardcore, but compared to real melodic hardcore bands not rly fitting into that genre. its more like commercial punk with instrumental hardcore influences.

Look at their 80s stuff. And Ignite is practically the actual definition of what melodic hardcore sounds like. commercial punk? yeah they're making millions. RIGHT. They aren't rise against making all that cash.

They tour with some very good hardcore bands, which was noted.Not all hardcore yells and screams, the guy has a good voice, so he uses it to perfection.

I wouldnt really say its HC, more like old, fast punk (the old BR stuff actually defineded the style of the west coast). I wasnt comparing Ignite with Rise Against for their commercialism, more with the fact, that they sound pretty common, when you compare the instruments. In my opinion Ignite are Rise Against with a higher voice (although RA have changed to the bad, if you compare the old and new stuff).

I agree with you, that the singers voice is pure win, its unique to hear such a voice in this genre. But i cant agree 100% that Ignite are pure melodic hardcore. well, i think if you wanna label them, the right genre they fit in is "melodic hardcore" . They ve been compared with bands such as Good Riddance, Pennywise ecc...Ignite got some really personal touch that adds something more ;-)
