Yes, there's a lot of performers/entertainers making a living as so-called "musicians". And musicians who take the entertainment business path. And, of course, the "music" industry tries to sell you everything they can make a profit of, and inevitably much of what you see advertised is merely entertainment catalogued as music.

@agioni99 Have you ever listened to Tom Waits? She is covering one of his songs "Long Way Home". He isn't a sell-out either. If you look hard, you will find artists that are worthy. Unfortunately good, genuine people like Tom & Norah get stuck under the radar, at the same time I think they enjoy just making music. It's what they love you know?! Still, they deserve more appreciation.

@agioni99 It's a reflection of western way-of-living so the best way (imo) is to go deeper than the "music" industry. Search for independent labels, unsigned artists and particularly go for the "world music" section in the record shop, instead of the pop-rock flavours everyone can listen to everywhere everytime.
