@humanspider2007 yh u would say that if u were a dumb blind fuck, i hate def leppard now they fucking suck. sorry but thats the truth as well as im in a bad mood
Steve Clark and Pete Willis had all the talent in this band. When they were gone, it all went downhill musically. Financially, it was the best thing that happened to the rest.
@TheHerbmon Phil Collen was the main soloist on Pyromania so that's a bit unfair considering it was their last balls to the wall rock album. Collen and Clark were great together but I agree the band lost something special when Steve Clark died.
@TheLoke666 they were one of my fav bands, then pyro came out.I bought it and I hated every song.i couldnt believe how pop they went.I was expecting a rock record like the previous 2 albums
@000MrAnderson open ur fukin mind, metal is amazing to me in teh sence that it can do pretty much anything so what def leppard went melodic, i like the heavy raw and screams and blasts as much as i like the soothing and melodicness, or eerie, metal can be anything
@000MrAnderson There was only room for one Metallica, and Metallica did it much better.. ;O) In the end it did get a bit rediculous, over produced candy corn..
awesome album got it when released went to see them in 1980 .Best album in imo,2nd album was good and the 3rd but then they pandered to the yanks who like showy pop rock and also the horrible incident which befell ricky allen>( must of had a big impact on what they could play and perform
They played this at Download 2011, so hopefully they'll be playing it on the tour with Heart. This and Mirror Mirror are the two not-so-popular songs I hope and pray they will play.
yawn. They've been sober for years, and this was from their first album. Whaddya want... band sound changes. That was over 30 years ago. My little brother and I were rockin out to "Rock of Ages" before some of you were born. There's something to like from all their albums.
True words. I still have their 1st 2 LP's, the only ones that matter. Saw them open for JPriest on Sat. June 7, 80'. I was 17, front row, those kids were just a bit older and rockin' their asses off. Later that night after the show, my friend and I bumped into Pete Willis at a rock bar called "The Old Buffalo". He was gettin' some cigs from the machine and we approached him. He was very cool and low key, a priceless chance encounter with the guy who had the real DL sound right.
Well these guys WERE in the NWOBHM right along with Maiden (and more forgettable bands.) Similarities do exist.
Joe Elliott always said he couldn't listen to this album, especially while sober - sure the vocals are not as high and screamy as H&D but I think this album sounds great! His voice would have held out better singing in a more natural range.
@Xeivous how can u say that about hysteria? dude hysteria is a killer album, with harder and better guitar parts, adrenalize is killer too!!!!! a true fan sticks with a band
their first two albums were their very bast once they got famous and the drummer lost his arm it all changed then steve clark dying just hurt them bad
Im 17, im wasted, and this is a tuesday night. ive got school in the morning, and i dont care. im listening to 80s metal all night, i love the 80s. this is the 80s to me, fuck reality, i love the 80s, and i love bourbon and beer! ( yes im 17 and i love bourbon.... what can i say, jim beam is toooooo fuckin smooth,)
@sarahjf07 I'm not saying they even "sucked" after High 'n' Dry, but they shoulda stuck with that NWOBHM sound. I actually kinda like Pyro and Hysteria
Hysteria is what made them famous in their own country. Def Leppard is Pyromania and Hysteria. I love all the songs from all their albums. That makes them a "REAL" rock band. R.I.P Steve
Early Def and early Aerosmith are badass hard riff rock that all fuzzy and rough around the edges - then some bonehead like Mutte Lange or the like gets a hold of them and spins then into radio friendly pop-rock - millions are made from the simple-minded masses but the later music from these and other bands really is just pop-junk.
Some of you are criticizing by saying Def Lep sucked after High N Dry or Pyromania, well I'll give ya my 2 cents worth Pyromania and Hysteria may have been more produced as albums but live on those tours Def Leppard had really come into it's own and had awesome sound. Some of you never saw the Hysteria tour, but let me tell you, they had a killer show. Hysteria was certainly "produced" but the multilayered guitar tracks were great on that album. IMO, Def Lep lost it's way after Hysteria...
@Rockywaves73 Def Leppard lost it's way when Steve Clark died I like this album it's but it was sorta generic(not saying thats really) I think when Phil Collen joined as when there 2 lead guiter sound really took off. I Think the twin lead guiter and that they came from the NWOBHM is what separated(maybe put them ahead them from all of the glam pop metal bands like poison Cinderella BonJovie ect. thats how I see it
@Spidermankevin78 I can agree with you on that. I think Viv Campbell is a talented guitarist...I mean, before Def Lep he played with Whitesnake and Dio and certainly they rocked but it seems he and Phil don't produce that same edge as Phil and Steve did. Def Lep are still one of my fave bands but it isn't the same for me....maybe because I'm and old man now(37) and remember the Def Lep I really loved from high school days...lol.
@Spidermankevin78 and to continue for I ran out of room below..lol. Def Leppard paved the way for bands like Bon Jovi...."Photograph" was a hit long before "You Give Love a Bad Name" that's for sure. In my opinion, besides heavier bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest who paved the way for other heavier later bands, the early 80s had 2 very important bands....Def Lep and Van Halen.
i like the later stuff, its more interessting, this sounds like judas priest, Def Leppard made theyre own sound in hysteria and pyromania, thats why they got huge. im glad they didnt stuck with this.

@christimpaler1 "mom rock" lmfao! those "moms" used to be be young hotties in the early days. The Leps have some stories of making it with mother and daughters on some of their tours. haha

MY wiki version of Def Leppard:
Great hard rock band that only released 2 LP's worth listening to, their first 2.
Then they became MTV darlings, poured sugar all over their music and became CACA. Best tune: Wasted. Outstanding talent: Pete Willis.
(Saw them open for Judas Priest on their first US tour, musta been 79', I was 17 and could relate to kids on stage rockin' their asses off. Still have these LP vinyls).
