To explain the context of this video: I was always a huge fan of Breaston. His freshman year was the year I moved to Ann Arbor, and he instantly became my favourite Wolverine. This video was hastily put together in the days leading up to the meeting of two 12-0 teams. I was upset by Herbstreit calling Breaston Worthless on national television, and wanted to show how valuable Breaston really was during that 12-0 run. He truely was a possession receiver.

Breaston was a disappointment. I remember his freshmen year, everybody was going nuts over his explosiveness. Then he got banged up his sophmore year (I think might have been hurt his junior year too) and he just never lived up to expectations. He always made you hold your breath when he touched the ball, but he rarely hit that home run. It sucks he didn't go out a winner (especially in that Rose Bowl against Texas), but at least he's doing well for himself in the pros.

Breaston was a borderline bust as a wide receiver, but he was such an explosive return man. He was the greatest returner in not just Michigan history, but Big ten history as well. Every time he touched the ball on punts or kickoffs, you held your breath, and he made alot of big plays in the return game.

He rarely made a big play as a receiver, but as a return man, he was making big plays all the time. Go Blue!

But then he had a great training camp, and he was expected to fill Jason Avants shoes and become michigans next 100 yard, 70 catch receiver. Instead, breaston only had 58 catches for 670 yards and 2 touchdowns-and he didn't score a single touchdown in Michigans 7 home games.

I was in a big rush to get this video out, and, at the time, a violin + piano + cymbals rendition sounded good, but I ended up making a big mess. My goal is to release a new version with highlights from OSU and the Rose Bowl, and a better soundtrack.

Michigan is a football team that plays field-position and smash-mouth football. Even if "Stevie Wonderful" doesn't score on punt or kick returns he's always been a field position monster so that Michigan wouldn't have to go on 80-yard drives all day. Don't underrate his 3rd down conversion catches as well to keep drives going. it's not always the highlight plays that show your true value. so disappointing or not he has always made an impact on this program since day one.

He was one part of the "take your poison" offense (Hart, Manningham, Arrington, Breaston) for Michigan, which put up 39 points against a team that gave up an average of 7 a game. The playing surface was a disgrace, which hurt Breaston more than anyone else on offense, since they rely on cutting and juking. Breaston had a touchdown run that was somehow "indisputably reversed", and would've had a 1st down with a chance to take the lead, when the turf gave way.
