that is Sifu Randy Williams and I believe Ron Balicky. Both highly praised and accomplished teachers and fighters.Ron is married to Dan Inosantos daughter if I'm not mistaken. You can be a critic but know what your critisizing.
Personally I don't like the way the guy in the blue shirt throws his punches. One can easily see that he never ever aiming at his partner but far to the left and far to the right. It is not up to me to criticize a fighting system but if you decide to make it available to public-viewers please execute your techniques properly. Otherwise it is not to be taken serious - and I guess that is not what you are intending. My be you want re-do this...
Randy williams can fight he used to be a professional body guard. hes a bit stiff because he does a lot of weights but his techniques work and he can fight.
ts just a drill. This one is one of many drills in WC. Even tho its a preset pattern its used in an effective manner. The idea is to build up arm muscles and memory so next time if a punch like that do come your way you can instinctively react according to the drills you have learnt. WC is about finding ways to effectively hit your opponent using very economical movements. I've never came across this drill before but the principles of it is still in line with the main principles of WC anyway.
only useful against another wing chun stylist, or someone who only punches in straight line. show me wing chun against someone throwing hooks and uppercuts. oh wait, I've seen it in other videos and the WC guy didn't fair too well.
sof2226, this isn't used in a real fight! It is just used to learn the different movements and shapes! Is this wing chun or WingTsun? Because I do WingTsun and have never seen this drill before
good drill. make it a technique and control how you use it. simply changing the timing will make a big difference. remember in wing chun, the practitioner always control the application of the techniques. don't let the technique control you. anybody who says this won't work is not a true wing chun practitioner.
this doesn't work drill like this, that pre determine pattern, you should adjust to whatever your oppont throws, this is just pattern, learn your forms and then be open minded, drill like this dont work in real fights.
You are not supposed to use the drill in a fight sof2226 , the drill is called a drill for a reason , maybe because it is a drill . If you know about martial arts you will know drills are done to make the moves second nature , so should you get in a sticky situation you will react quickly .
why doesn't it work? have you tried it? or do you just say that because your jkd instructor told you that? it's not so different than chi sao or hubud. they are preset patterns as well. just like a boxer practices the 1-2, 1-2-3. ie..jab, cross, hook. there are things that just come out alot of the time. like if you slip the jab, it's probable that you can land the hook over top of it. every time a muay thai guy throws a low kick, you might raise your leg to block it. is that not a pattern too?
thanks, i'm nothing special. but everyone does the proverbial "dead training" ....everyone. it's just that when "they" do it, for some reason it's magically "alive"

Randy can't dance. Wing Chun is not a karate chop suey style. What he did here works only on stiffs like that guy on the blue shirt.
