well in fact "in Venere veritas" means "in Venus (there's) truth" but I believe it could also mean that in what Venus represents (love, lust, beauty, sex etc) there's truth. Also, this is my favorite phrase and it is connected to my favorite band and godess and now it's a tattoo on my left rib!

The original phrase was "In Vino Veritas", which is "In wine, there is truth," but he changed WIne to Love- (Vino to Venere). He even spoke to a fren about it, whos a 'doctor in Latin phraseology" who told him that. :))) In Love, There is Truth. :)

Scotessa: I indeed looked up "Aphrodite" and the correlation between "In Venere Varitas" Ville Valo's play on words version compared to "In Vino Varitas" is quite fascinating. Casio instruments looked intriguing to me and I actually enjoyed the sound coming from them. It IS Latin!... it comes from "Venus,-eris", and "Venere" is the ABLATIVE case, which is required by the preposition "IN". It means "In Love there is Truth", and it is a play on words of "In Vino Veritas". Also, Venus was the Roman goddess of Love and Beauty (try googleing "Venere of Botticelli"), "copied" from the Greek goddess Aphrodite. SO, the word stands for the goddess and for what she represents, that is, Love. By the way, in Italian, LOVE is AMORE :)
