@scarnape There's a theory that the Rottweiler was used to contribute to the Doberman's original nature and pattern, so there's your answer :) German Pinschers, Beaucerons, and even Miniature Pinschers were supposedly used in the early development of the Doberman Pinscher

@Cyanide124 Dobermans have Great dane, Grey hound, Rottweiler, and German shepherd. Rot and GS weren't introduced to late in the mix. Great Dane was the first choice.

@texgrl2009 The exact ratios of mixing, and even the exact breeds that were used, remain uncertain to this day, although many experts believe that the Doberman Pinscher is a combination of at least four of the purported breeds. The single exception is the documented crossing with the Greyhound and Manchester Terrier. It is also widely believed that the old German Shepherd gene pool was the single largest contributor to the Doberman breed.
