Airlines give vouchers for delayed flights and these vouchers are only issued when you show your boarding pass. So where he got the "free" food from is quite strange. You say you have no money, yet you were able to book a flight to Kathmandu. Was that a free deal you blagged? Unless you had a credit card on you, how did you make a booking? And your telling me you travelled from London to India without a single debit card or credit card on you?

Yea i do believe he should have got British High Commission involved in his case, normally if held for more then 24hrs then Local consulates should be informed. Not sure why his Visas were refused but may be he may have previously Overstayed somewhere?? Or may have violated the laws in some countries?? Immigration departments are centrally controlled means all information if your entry & exit are marked the same in every country you travel. In case of Bribe, yes he may be right for sure.
