  • That's not true... Einstein is credit for what, who lay claims to helping invent that... Exactly. Race does matter, especially in the United States. All you need to do is look at the election(s).

  • cont 4. the anger and fire of remembering the opressive state. Obama serves the colonists.

The colonial powers still exists. It's just some people will take a quarter to let a white man kick him in the ass. The rich and powerful understand the power of advertising, and the materialist, misogynist rapper is the investment that teaches and influences youth. But, what do I know. I am just a white man, privileged and the oppressor. But, I listened to the voices of "others." the oppressed!

  • Yes, blacks and women have made great advances, but at what cost? To become like the beast that feeds them? If Oprah's goal is to be superwealthy, then she is one of them, one of the wealthy tyrants who dictate over us minions. Wealth and power are the problem: Dr. King knew it when he said, "the greatest purveyor of violence in the world is the U.S." Obama does not speak for the masses. He lacks the history that his ex-minister Rev. Wright has, cont 4

  • Who we are working for? That question is answered by what Marx called alienation of the american worker. In Marx's day, alienation was the division of labor to the point where one's labor was meaningless, worker as a cog in the wheel of capital. That has been taken one step further, now, as you point out, to now we do not know who the master is.

As for Tiger, Oprah, Jordan, and the rappers who preach biling, bling instead of "let freedom ring" as Cornel West writes... cont.

  • cont. They are successful because they don't touch the race issue. Look at the artists, sports figures, actors, etc. who spoke out against racism, they were/are economically castrated, the media ignores them, ostracizes and chastises them. The rich white men that pay them we cut off their support if Oprah, Woods or Jordan suddenly spoke out against racism, social and economic injustices, etc.. They are rewarded for their silence. The same goes for some white outspoken white activists. cont 3

  • Apart from the substance, your videos are so well-produced.

  • thank you. MAC computers are simple, effective machines for doing this kind of work. get one if you haven't. perhaps i've looked at enough tv, movies, pbs documentaries in my life, to get a feel of how words and a images could fit. thank you again.

  • ok... i will make a vid tomorrow. All what i think will be in there.

  • how far is leeds university from you. zygmunt bauman taught there. they're building a library for him there.

  • Is it a universal truth that the problems of the world can't be traced down to where they begin? If so, then what's the point of trying to find solutions to them? The best option would be to escape them, which is what most people seem to be attempting, which is why distractions are so appealing.

  • pretty much. a lot of people are escape artists. i am too. sometimes i NEED to forget. too much negativity isn't healthy. but trust me, i am very aware of what's going on. i reach out to others in my age group and they don't care much. even when i step out of my age group, it's tough. it's like, everyone needs to discover "life" on their own terms.

  • Too much positivity isn't healthy either. The problem is that people don't want to accept how much negativity (evil) there is in the world. Doing that would interrupt their relatively smooth sailing through life.

  • i don't mean to take value away from the overall message... but the picture located at 5:49, what is actually going on there? it's like staring at a visual metaphor.

  • one of the most famous pictures the last 50 yrs. i believe this happened in boston, ma. the man with the american flag is assaulting a black man who is protesting to allow school busing in the area. one american doesn't want the children of another to gain equal access to education. the pic is more that metaphor. it's not staged. not a movie. it was real life.

  • thanks for the info. yes, it's definitely more... perhaps that's why it stopped me dead in my tracks. good video by the way!

  • your keeping me on the edge with this one...

Is it that the world is changing and we are not?

  • both are changing. you can't live on a spinning planet and not be moved. your videos are about a change happening in the world that others have yet to voice. you see the change, bus. it's evident in all we do and don't do, show and don't show on YT and in real life. black, white, brown, tan, no matter the color. there is a fundamental change going on in the way man relates to himself and to each other. it's like we took a giant leap forward in technology, communication, access, but...

  • ... something got lost in that jump. there's no way out of this life except to make sense of our individual and collective functions in it as sane, productive, alive human beings... so yes, WE [i'm guessing u're talking black ppl here] are changing. by default, we have to change to keep up with the world. but the quest is to know what we ALWAYS wanted, no matter where we've been or what had happened? b/c the world has always changed. perhaps abject poverty kept us out of feeling the force...

  • ... of that constantly changing world. if you're stuck in the ghettos of the world for 400 yrs, survival, not living, is all you know. now tiger and so many of us are livin' out, movin' on as we always have. but the world sees them moving, we see them movin', changin' and standin' still, all in real time, right now, 24-7. what changed more than anything is the scrutiny, the focus --and the lacking thereof... or else bill cosby wouldn't seem like a sage for pointing out the all too obvious.

  • leeds is about 150 miles away from me... its quite far... by the way, i have made a video response and will post it tonight

  • While you're at it, define sanity. It seems obvious that someone who claims to know universal truths would have to make a claim to sanity as well.

  • you've mentioned "universal truths" 3 times. seems like you want to say something but you're holding it in.

  • Oronde places a lot of importance on what he calls "universal truths" but to my knowledge has never explicitly stated what these truths are. As long as he holds back on this his message will remain too vague.

  • you're the man, vol. you find all the holes. you're the man, brotha.

  • That's what teachers are for. :-)

  • i'll email you privately. glad to see you back on the scene. how are things?

  • Things are temporary.

  • temporary? vague response. email me with whatever specifics are worth sharing.

  • All things begin and end. I think you wanted some details on my mood or life in general. That's the most important thing I can say about any of that.

  • wow! deep insight, and most of us already know what you are saying is true, but i couldn't put it quite as eloquently. Thanks

  • i get that feeling, not of being "deep" in any stretch but of capturing thoughts others experience but don't quite get at. thanks for getting it out.

  • i recommend reading the works of zygmunt bauman on "liquid modernity". the same experience you had with this vid i continue to have with his words.

  • Deeply thought out video and one that needs to be viewed again and again.

  • i'd like my vids to be clear the first time through but... the truths we must realize today are hidden in a convoluted reality. we should reflect on the myriad images, sounds, messages of our days to get at meaning... so perhaps my style, by default, needs to be as convoluted. it's a product of our age. perhaps the style lets the viewer know that getting at truth ain't a one-time, easy looking thing. there's too much going on. in my vids, like life, you gotta get what means anything to you.

  • The points you made are poignant points, but the issue is who buys the TV'z. It is a stimulant, just like a drug. Power is what tiger looks for (assumption) cause it is the only thing man can astir with GOD! The edifice is only build for the few cause it is man making... We are all liars cause we can physically see and then we belief. True sight is in the heart and to make a Empathic MAN takes a long process... You can't give a man a real vision, it has to hit him smack dab in the mouth!

  • tv is for advertising products & passing on ideas to buy them. would be nice to have a big time personality spouting universal truths. there are some in every holy text. our stars are pushing products for multinationals or trying to become their own. time to figure out truths that translate around the world. not just how to go "green" but social ills, equity, poverty, what it truly means to be alive with your fellow man. maybe that's asking too much for them... at one pt. some did that job.

  • What about Oprah! She has always said, "their is not one way!"

I have found that young poor WHITE men don't like her... I have been looked at crazy for talking about her, they say: ..."you like her, she's all about money." Have you read some comments on her Videos on youtube... I do not idealize people as others have, but as a WOMEN to reach that amount of money status and still get DISCRIMINATED AGAINST

  • oprah and tiger are doing what they think they should the way they think they must. in the end the results will matter. who's to say if jim brown wasn't offered $80 mil/yr. he wouldn't have dropped his social justice agenda? money is a beast w/ responsibilities. i'm commenting on a generation of active, inspired, "soulful" figures championing more universal issues about equity, freedom and justice rather than lifestyles. universal truths are eternal. lifestyles issues last a lifetime.

  • Name some universal truths and how you know that they are universal. You might want to dedicate a whole video to this topic because it's pretty big.

  • nike makes money from tiger, ronaldo, jordan, etc. that's it. but it's not about that relationship so much as it is about what those athletes represent. they're products pushing additional products and happy to be just that. tiger wants to be the 1st billionaire athlete. of course he'll help the kids and build a community center along the way but what is he teaching by his actions in life? amass money? whats the difference between him and the bling bling rappers we despise? he needs to grow up.

  • That piece just hit on some points I thought deeply about just recently. To keep with you theme, I now feel that,in all aspects, people are flooded with all they don't need but almost inevitably succumb to desire. My country is purposely made "unmarketable" so I can't be rooted there, my rock(Haiti), but waves of the status quo makes other places attractive (Europe et cetera) and pushes us all to help them stuff their pockets more. The talented star is made to share his success with Nike, puma..
