  • is it possible for canines to be fused at the age of 40?

  • @lovemilyx3

Ankylosis (fusion of tooth to bone) is certainly possible but is quite rare. More often than not, for people of higher age, the bone around the tooth becomes more dense and harder. It becomes more difficult to erupt impacted canines in older people because of this very hard bone, and not so much because of fusion.

    Hope this is helpful

  • is it possible for canines to be fused at the age of 14?

  • I had this done and thank god I was out! But the thing the chain is connected to fell off the tooth and had it redone while I was awake. I'll never forget feeling the roof oh my mouth hanging 0_o

  • Omg my canine teeth came in and i had to get 2 of my other teeth removed and i am so happy they came in the oppisite way than in this vid :D

  • HOW MUCH DO THEY COST?

  • @782princesscutie

Hi. I depends on the complexity of it, type of anesthesia, and where you have it performed. but it may range from 500's to $1000's for exposure of fully impacted canine. Best to check with your oral surgeon.

Braces consist of brackets with wires. so they are related.

  • I am getting this tomorrow :(

  • I think I need the two step procedure done, anyone known how much that would cost (preferably in Australian dollars.)

    -Thanks

  • @jarrodg1990

Depending on the level of impaction and difficulty, it may be anywhere from $400's to $800's for an exposure and bracket placement of an impacted canine. Also varies depending on the location, type of material used, and doctor specialization and expertise. I certainly recommend an oral surgeon.

  • @15kstewart

make sure to ask for IV sedation- really helps and makes it a much better experience.

  • i have braces and my teeth and they look perfectly... and i saw this video and what if i have one?? im only 13.... so how would u know if u have 1?

  • @angela1029384756

Your dentist and orthodontist will know if you do- they have x-rays and the exam which will reveal if you had an impacted canine.

    thanks

  • i currently have braces and the spring to make room for them. Next month my orthodontist said he;s going to put a brace on the canine. how will this look?

  • @SuperLunchTime

I am assuming your canine is stuck- there is a bracket that is placed on the canine that looks some what similar as your other brackets. Unless there is a chain attached to it to help bring it down. They are very small so barely visible. good luck

  • @implantguru thank you very much! :)

  • I think I have an impacted canine. I think this because the gums are swollen where the tooth is supposed to be and the tooth is only showing a little bit, like the little point. And, i lost this tooth almost a year ago. So, do i have an impacted canine? I am gonna check with my orthodontist though.

  • @pinklover9100

It certainly might be. your orthodontist can easily tell if it is the canine and if exposure is needed to bring it down.

    Dr. kazemi

  • Both of mine are impacted and im going to get surgery this summer! Im so scared!

  • @Lilmissfrenchyy

I can understand- make sure to ask for IV sedation when you meet with the oral surgeon. It makes the whole experience so much better. All the best

  • I am 40 years old, I have an impacted upper canine. It is causing some problems, swelling, headaches, etc. My Dr. just told me I have to have it removed. my impacted tooth is almost horizontal. Is my age going to make this more difficult or take longer? Can my tooth be saved can they only remove it? thank you for the informative video!

  • @bradhavingfun

If the canine cannot be erupted by orthodontic means, then it is best to be removed. It may be more difficult to extract later in life and I certainly recommend IV sedation for this procedure. Also bone grafting may be necessary to regenerate bone which will provide better bone for support of adjacent teeth and provides good site for implant replacement, if it is appropriate. I hope this is helpful.

  • @implantguru Thank you for your input, I hope to god I will be fully asleep when it happens in a few weeks. I am not looking forward to it at all. anyway, thanks again for your video and thoughts.

  • ahem..i had those..with braces..and got braces on them thursnday. hurts like crazy!!

  • all four of my canines were impacted, i just got the surgery two days ago.

will it really take a year for them to come down?

  • @GoForBlue

that depends on their position, your age, and amount of space available. The orthodontist should be able to give you a close timeline. all the best with it

    dr. kazemi

  • I have a sideways canine as well as another sideways tooth two teeth back. What sort of procedure fits my situation? Will i have any lisp problems? Is it extremely noticeable? About how long will the entire process take? Thank you for answering as many of these as you can!

  • i might be having this surgery becuase my tooth has only moved like half a mm in 5 months and my sister had it and its the 3rd tooth from the center i think thats canine and about how long should it take

  • @littlejoey8485

Once the exposure surgery is done, the time it needs to come down depends on how far and how angled it is. It may take 3 months up to 9 months or more depending on the situation. The orthodontist should be able to give you some better ideas.

    dr. kazemi

  • i have an impacted front tooth . do any one know how long it will take from it to come down after the surgery?

  • @MOONK2010

Depends on its position and angle. Usually between three to six months on the average.

  • @implantguru i got the surgery done on tuesday and they found out that the tooth is upside down ; and the oral surgeron said that my orthodontist is going to have a hard time with it.

  • @MOONK2010

Hang in there and lets hope they can get it done.

  • i have an impacted front tooth ; do anyone know how long it would take to pull down ?

  • Im 19, and i had three impacted teeth, i got two of them with chains and took a yr to pull them down, now i have to go get another surgrery for my other one :(

  • Sounds like it was a success both times

    one more for beautiful teeth.

    good luck

    dr. kazemi

  • cool

  • i had it done two days ago :L

was scary watching it back :L

  • i just had that procedure done last week i start the pulling done of the canines next week this video was very helpful

  • glad it was helpful. thanks

  • Im sooooooooooo scared! Am i going to be awake? =/

  • Dont worry people, i had this operation a few months back, you honestly do not feel any pain. Hospital gives you plenty of pain killers and it may only sting a little. I had to have some excess gum removed (cysts) at theback and they hurt alot more

  • very true. most complain of very little pain. thanks for sharing your experience.

    dr kazemi

  • ok i hav e4 inpacted teeth and it just is not worth it well for one tooth the rest is fine but one of my inpacted teeth are sideways in my gum so it is not worth going through all of that bull crap

  • im scared to get mine done!

  • i've had it done twice, once about 8 months ago and again about a week ago (because the bracket came off the canine when it was tightned) its not to bad i recomend getting nitro (laughing gas) it makes it more enjoyable especially since procedure can range from 1-3 hours.

  • ohh i still scared though im not getting my teeth plled im just getting the tooth pulled out of my gums. I REALLY SCARED! I dont want needles or hurt or anything....today i just got the bottom braces for the surgury im veryyyyy scaredd.. am i gonna have stiches in my gums?
