This band plays it beautifully...they even memorized the piece completely everyone is playing wonderful...from the woodwinds to the brass...just great I wish the camera that recorded this was capable of recording with better sound..FAMU is amazing...

Serious intonation issues from 0:54 to 1:21. Tubas sounded great during this run, however, rest of the band friggin sucked.

Definitely needed a better microphone than the one on-camera. And I'm guessing that the hall wasn't conducive to a good sound.

Still I love marches like these. We played less spectacular ones at my grade schools, marches I certainly didn't miss during college.

different arrangements. Lots of the grace notes in woodwind parts may be removed and the piece may be in a more manageable key than Db concert.

Listen my musical Cohorts! FAMU is known (famed) for their uncanny ability to play in & most importantly, remain in tune throughout a piece; BRAVO! Do you not hear the studio quality of almost every one of their performances? I dare u 2 listen to any of a variety of mediocre sounding bands that doesn't focus on sound like FAMU, & u will run from the intonation! LOL! I love FAMU's band for superb taste & display of musicianship & hope to visit 1 day to see if this remarkable sound is real! Hail S

Camera angle. If whoever recorded this wasn't sitting right under the piccolos you would have heard more low brass. It might have been fast but it sounds great to me.

I think the main reason that you hear alot of piccolos is because of the camera position, It's on the same level as the woodwinds and the lower bras are blowing right over the camera's mic.

btw I agree you guys need more low brass. I would suggest much more baritones, and add a few more tubas. I like the trombone and french horn sound. A little too much piccolos, maybe switch a couple to flute, other wise it sounds great.

Shutup. Woodwinds are the best part of the band, and besides they should at least be considered equals, they just produce different timbres and moods, woodwinds are flexible, brass are buoyant.
