Soldjah327, splivey! U missed the point completely! U never heard of the original? Your not supposed to enjoy this film it,s ment to be uncomfortable! It,s basically finger wagging at the growing culture of blood lust in horror!
You and splivey both put up a pretty good argument. The movie itself was sick, but the purpose for it(suspense) was deliverd, and that is why is why I watched this movie, and enjoyed it, somewhat.
the movie was actually what i would call unintentionally comical...for the simple reason of the lack of will and effort to survive from the family. the boy, who showed the most effort, ironically dies first. the sheer adrenaline, combined with a number of factors, make it hard to believe that even if the dad had his whole damned leg dismembered, he still "couldn't" do anything agains 2 somewhat scrawny rich young punks
The world is full of violence, why make some "art piece" for safe white movie goers. Just because something can be represented doesnt mean it should be. Anything can be art - this is shit art.
If you enjoy seeing an innocent dog beaten to death with a golf club..a wholesome family tortured and killed one by one by two useless creeps, then by all means run to see it...you will love it.
It's utter trash about two lost psychos who like to hurt and kill people. Don't we have anough of these cretins alredy in our society. People who enjoy this have emotional problems and feel powerless like the two creeps in the movie.
gohstrider: I agree with you to a great extent because I wanted to see it and I also love suspenseful films. I also understand why it was considered an "art" film when first released in Austria. But the essential content is disturbing to our spirit. We should not enjoy seeing a nice family, a young boy shot gunned to death ..as "entertainment." It's the lowest form of human nature that enjoys this type of perverse brutality.

dont be so serious.
movies wont kill people.
if you cant separate the art of making movies and real life, then go watch some meaningless hollywood crap. (sorry)
i really liked this movie. its not reality so why should i be disturbed by enjoying it?
(i hope i could explain myself it a bit hard in english.)

It's suspense that draws people to these kind of movies.
