This engine was an early 1974 Nissan 260Z engine. An L26.
Nissan never put a 3.8 liter in any production Z car

The black stuff is called Carbon, hard carbon to be exact. It's entirely normal. That stuff begins to form after about 50 miles of driving. Your engine looks rather healthy, I hope your rebuild goes well

already rebuilt!!! running great too. After bending some valves and having to swap a bunch of stuff from another head it is finally running.

#6 looks like it spun a bearing! i think i soon a smooth finish around the piston where it was hitting the head.
