Glenn was never an addict - except to Rock, trust. If he was we would have lost him 20 years ago. He indulged frivously (lost the 80's entirely) but...hey, he ain't the only one. Thing is, he's here and now and better than anything!
@TheDrummer1969 Dont know why you removed your comments...I wouldve left them up.I agree with you you that Glenn found God and it helped cure his addictions.Yes he took cocaine, but he also used heroin.Tommy Bolin's brother told me that Tommy and Glenn would do some after Deep purple gigs.I wasnt there,so Im only going on what Ive been told....Steve
@cowbelltell On the 'Addiction' record Glenn sings and plays bass,Joe travers on drums and Marc Bonilla plays guitar.Marc also wrote 'death of me'hich is on the addiction CD and is also a killer song.Marc also has several solo Cd's out.
Today Glenn plays with Chad Smith on drums (who is also in the Red Hot Chili Peppers). J.J. Marsh on Guitar and ed Roth on Keyboards. Steady...
I still hear this album and feel a big sadness when I read the lyrics. Addiction is an obscure and dramatic album. I feel happy that Glenn don't need this subterfuge to show what he know so well: To play bass guitar, to sing with his blessful voice and to kick all the asses!!! I love him.
Not only that DandyBlues,Glenn is still topical today.Glenn could go out and do old Deep Purple and Trapeze songs, like other's from those bands do,but Glenn is still putting out not only relevant music, but great rock n roll.
I'm so glad to see there are still some people out there that know real talent when they hear it.Glenn is the best vocalist in the history of modern rock music. He is truly the Voice of Rock along with Robert Plant, but he was not addicted to heroine.I am a friend and my best friend from high school days was Glenn's manager for many years.Glenn was addicted to cocaine first and foremost.Tommy was addicted to heroine.Glen has come back from the edge of death to do what he does today.Incredible:)
@steadysteve54 and coke dude, big coke habit in purple, jon lord paid his dealer off when they returned from the states, he has lived for sure, and is still here with the best voice in rock still, after all the drugs. the man is a legend, I will be seeing him at nottingham rock city in sept, cant wait, small venue to, pure class at the rescue rooms..
This is probably one of my favorite Glenn Hughes songs of all time. I remember talking about his heroin addiction, and how he went through hell to kick it.When I read about Kevin dying from his addiction, and remembering Tommy Bolin's tragic fate, I felt this song needed this video treatment. Glenn has said he likes the video, and that's good enough for me....
Indeed. Think Sampo Axelsson was inspired by Soundgarden when he wrote the basic structure of this song... :) Sampo later played bass on some of the songs on the Addictiontour.
I love Glenn and tommy together they just funked out. I have done what they did for the last 12 years and shall be clean in 4 months and then wait for the shit to happen. Don't do it it is not worth it. Tis all I can say. Just listen to the music. Ants

Glenn's my favourite vocalist, and I've always liked him best with the "heavy" stuff, as opposed to the soul/funk. Great stuff!

Right on ALL counts playgroove. Surely do agree on Mr. Hughes', criminally overlooked by mainstream media, monstrous vocal talent.

Everytime I listen to this song....the hairs on the back of my neck stand up straight.
Especially when Glenn lets out a scream.....
Glenn was addicted to herion...but leads a CLEAN life now. Tommy Bolin also had his battles with herion, among other drugs as well.

Correction, Glenn was addicted to Cocaine not Heroine.
