  • @lydiii45 1992

  • I remember seeing this advert when I was younger and it was etched in my brain. Seeing it again reminds me why I never drank alcohol. One of the best PIFs about the dangers of Drinking and Driving

  • NEW DRINK ! PEAR DROP!

    /watch?v=oqHAF64bZWs&feature=channel_video_title

    new drink!

  • They found a tree!

  • I remember this advert being shown in the summer of 1993; as a 13 year old it has been indelibably burnt into my brain. just discussing this with my best friend funnily enough and thought I'd see if it happened to be on here

  • I remember this advert from when I was younger, was shown in the early 90's I believe. I particularly remember the last scene where you can see the girl's head resting on the door with blood dripping down - that stayed with me until this very day - hence why I decided to YouTube it today out of curiousity to see if I could find it. Very good advert!

  • This advert was on when I was little... freaked me out so bad I had to leave the room when it came on

  • This PIF is really etched into my mind, remember watching it as a kid and it really freaked me out, it certainly made me never want to drink and drive...

  • @lydiii45 Around 1991/1992 methinks. The car is a H reg that came out in August 90', but they'd probably want to get the advert on tv before the holiday season, so it would most likely be 91

  • To be fair, that's probably the most sensible thing you could do if you owned a Cavalier.

  • Ray Dorset the composer & lead singer of Mungo Jerry has made a million in royalties from this record!

  • woah that car was mashed up!!!!! if you drink and drive then your an idiot

  • scary enough as a kid, but when your parents own a vauxhall cavalier as well in the same colour...scares you shitless

  • Add me to the list of those who were scared witless by this advert when they were young.. I'll never drink or drive as a result though.

  • What is the name of the actor from 24 - 28s? He used to star in a short series show on BBC Childrens TV called "Runners" circa 1990. Extremely spooky the way he tracked down people around England saying "I'm after you" for no particular reason. I would very much like to review some old footage of those episodes just for nostalgia value. Can anyone else remember the series?

  • sound does still bring back memories from being a child. Am I right in thinking this was before drining and driving was made illegal in UK?

  • @holyflamingballs no, you're not, this was well after drink driving was an offence.

  • I remember this advert from when i was a kid, its terrified me xD i saw it twice (i think) and i had nightmares for weeks. The song still brings back memories..

  • great clip

  • This used to be on when I was little and as a consequence hate this song

  • wow i remember this, freaed me out at the time

  • the reason why i never drunk and then drove! when i was a kid this advert scared me 2 much!

  • This advert used to scare me too. Quite badly.

  • best safest car to crash in though the tuff as old boots cavalier

  • Add me to the list of people who got very scared of this as a child. It starts off so happy and as a child, you don't expect it to end so horribly.

  • Isn't the actor doing the driving the bloke from the 'Full Monty' - Hugo something or other ?

  • @tubularash Hugo Speer.

  • Don't have a drink, have a drive, go out and see a tree to crash into that you can find.

  • simply buy a ford taurus (safest car ever) and you can drink drive all you want...LOL no dont worry im not really that dumb

  • This advert used to scare me very much when I was young but you know its the sort of commercial that puts the message across brilliantly and especially when the bloke who's drinking the pint of beer suddenly his expression changes now that has always interested me was he aware or had what is called a premonition that something really bad was going to happen to his friends and that they wouldn't ever return again In my honest opinion they were doomed when they first got in that car and drove off

  • The reason his facial expression changed had nothing to do with the people drinking and driving, if you look closely you'll realise that it's because he realises that the jukebox is broken and giving out poor quality sound. Nightmare.

  • @Odessii Yeah you and that jukebox have a lot in common then don't you? You're both like a broken record that goes on and on and on playing/talking crap over and over, crap that nobody even finds remotely funny.

  • @Odessii That's just how that song sounds. Mungo Jerry's recording equipment was crap.

  • this used to scare me so much when I was a kid, oh and the artist of this song is called Mungo Jerry

  • That is exactly why i DO NOT drink and drive! Still puts the shits up me watching it even today. Cheers for posting.

  • Thanks. I've been looking for this one.

  • The song is called in the summertime but i cant remember the artist.Try typing it in on frostwire and see what turns up! Sorry i cant be more help but this song should not be all that hard to find!

  • Mungo Jerry wrote the original version of the song

  • i cant remember a summertime in the UK lol

  • what is the first song called?

  • the way the fella's face sinks an the music changes and slows down, very powerfull.

  • A classic. Delivers the message brilliantly.

  • goog to see Michael Owen having a beer!!

  • This gave me nightmares as a kid, but watching it again now it's not so scary.. and it's meant to frighten people really because they need something like this to get the message across

  • I wish they used adverts like this in the US. They'd be a lot more effective than just saying "please drink responsibly" at the end of every alcohol ad.

  • KillerFreya- I agree- its not well known but the UK has the lowest fatality rates in Europe on our roads, averaging about 3500 a year- of course thats no consolation to the victims but its much lower than previous decades, so these ads must have had at least some effect.

  • This advert scarred me as a child too. I was frightened to watch tv at night because of this but looking back now its not as bad as I remembered it and its just what we need these days - I agree it should be used this summer.

  • good advert, they should use it again this summer

  • Oh my god I have finally found it!! the advert that scarred me for life as a child I could have sworn you heard it crash.

thanks for uploading not as bad as I remember it.
