  • Your prices are too high

  • Hi my ipod touch has a cracked screen and the touch does not work........ is the touch compenent in the LCD screen?

  • My ipod touch's screen works it's just hard to see because it is not lit up is this what i need to do to get it lit up?

  • @melikepizzapie This is the backlight, which is displayed through the LCD but controlled by the motherboard. Either of these can be at fault.

Does your device have any history - such a water damage, major drops, previous repairs, etc?

  • Can you buy a replacement LCD from an iPod Touch 4G and use it on your 3G? Is it compatible?

  • @baldolera No, sadly all of the iPod Touch LCD screens are only compatible with its specific model.

  • I know why I put the LCD on my iPod touch 3G LCD does not light c that's normal with the touch screen you can see he walks the light of the start iPod touch 3G

  • my lcd wont work now at 220 on the VD it shows a small plast i think i broke that

  • @0SgtNick Sounds very likely. I would suggest replacing the LCD screen.

  • is there anyother tool i can use or another store that sells them??

  • @JFCRAZE000 Guitar picks work great, as do small flat head screwdrivers (if you are familiar with disassembling iTouch's). Plastic pry tools are your best bet if this is your first repair. Some local repair shops may have these or a few other options available.

  • Where can I find that tool?

  • @elMazza007 Safe open pry tools can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com under "Repair Tools"

  • there seems to be some kind of rubber thing between the screen and the chrome back cover

  • @UniversalHere That is the adhesive that holds the touch screen to the mid frame. You will need to get below the mid frame, so you are prying between the plastic and metal housing.

  • I don't have a "safe open pry tool." I'm using a credit card.

  • I have an IPod Touch 3rd Gen 8gb, What LCD should I buy?

  • @iloilokicks I would just double check the generation (type the model number on the back case into a search engine). If it is a 3rd generation, you will need a 3rd gen - as the 2nd and 3rd are NOT cross compatible. These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • How do I put it back together after I have replaced the lcd screen?

  • @kUiPeRnAtOr Simply reverse the instructions given in the video. Just be sure the new connection of the LCD screen is fully in place.

  • i have a really stupied question... when you drop an ipod and the screeen cracks but the ipod still functions are the cracks on the digitizer or the actual lcd screen?

  • @bugboy357m Not a stupid question at all. The outer glass screen is called the "touch screen digitizer", this is normally cracked in a spider web type pattern and is the most common damage. LCD damage would be issues with the display, such as dead pixels, backlighting, etc.

The part you will need is the touch screen digitizer. Replacements are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • hey i took the thin foil off by mistake is this gonna be a problem...............

  • @richfahad No, this should not effect anything long term. It is suggested to keep this foil in place, however we have never had an issue if the foil is missing - even after a few years of use.

  • ive gotten the screen off, but ive come to replace the digitizer and realised that my ribbon cable is different to the original one, im not sure how i would go about placing it as i dont want to break it, can you help me please!

  • @samanthalucindat Possible the replacement screen is the wrong generation. This is very common. Especially with 8GB 3rd generations, which use 2nd generation digitizer (technically are 2nd generation but sold as 3rd.)

I would suggest typing your model number into a search engine, you should be able to determine your correct generation from there.

  • Hi @RepairsUniverse, thank you for you video. But I need help.

My 3rd Gen iPod Touch started flicking little horizontal white lines, now it's just a big flickering white screen(hard to make out whats on the screen). I tried Restarting it by holding the power and home button, but its still flickering. What do you recommend on doing?

  • @jacknumber13000 No problem. This is an issue with the LCD screen. Sometimes this is caused by water damage, drops, or loose connections. It is normally worth disassembling the device and checking the LCD connection. If the connection appears fine, I would suggest replacing the LCD screen. These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • @RepairsUniverse Thank You!! :)

  • @jacknumber13000 No problem at all! Good luck!

  • hi broke a little resistor or capacitor under the metal shield. It was only one but the ipod still turns on. How will this affect the long term?

  • @SaeYoumi This may cause issues down the road, it would depend on the exact resistor that was damaged. We have seen some work for years after, others may die instantly. Purely depends on what was damaged.

  • What kind of pryor are you using??

  • @ilovebama1985 This is a plastic safe open pry tool, available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • please help! i put my ipod in my pocket w/ hand sanitiser and it spilled on my ipod. the ipod works but theres liquid inside the screen and idk how to fix it!!! plz help!

  • @stickfigpro I would suggest removing the outer touch screen assembly (following this video) and attempt to clean it up from there. Hopefully it will clean right up, but possibility the sanitizer will damage the LCD screen itself, in which case a replacement would be required. These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • @RepairsUniverse thx that helped a lot! :)

  • @stickfigpro No problem at all!

  • My iPod broke just now -___- well Been having it for 3 years

  • @calfone916 Save it! Whats the issue?

  • I WHACHED FOR THE HELL OF UT EVEN KNOW MY IPOD IS 4g

  • How do you switch the home button from one ipod to the other? I order the screens but had no home button with it.

  • @jamazeon You will need to remove the home button from your old digitizer, it is normally just held in place between the touch screen and the mid frame / home button flex. Place the home button inside the new digitizer and then install the mid frame. Be sure the tabs located on each side of the button are seated properly. Everything should just pop into place from there.

  • Ok, I'll try again. This will be the fourth brand new digitizer. I'll order one in a few days.

  • @slwilson21 Unsure who you ordered from previously, but you may be able to return it? If not, check out our parts at RepairsUniverse (dot) com, we will take care of you and get the issue resolved. We stand by the parts we sell.

  • Oh and the iPod hasn't been water damaged.

  • The digitizers were purchased brand new. They all worked on my other iPod. The un responsive one worked fine until it fell out of my pocket. When it fell the digitizer cracked so I replaced it. But no response. When it fell the top right corner hit first.

  • @slwilson21 Hmm, I wasn't sure but seems a bit more likely now that the digitizer you replaced it with is either not connected properly or is a faulty part. May be worth checking out the connection and considering a replacement if the connection looks good.

  • I have a 2nd gen 16gb iPod touch that doesn't respond to touch. I've replacd the digitzer 3 times, all brand new digitizers, and it still doesn't respond. Do you know why this could be?

  • @slwilson21 Hmm, could be an issue with the motherboard, or the connection located on the motherboard then. Have any of them worked for even a few days? Or all are completely non responsive? Has the iTouch ever been water damaged?

  • how much will it cost for you to repair the charge port for ipod touch 3rd gen?

  • @kakashitocool I do not believe we are currently offering that repair service. As the holiday season comes up, we become very busy with repairs and limit the types of repairs available. We can still offer the part and repair guide though. Feel free to contact directly if you have any other questions.

  • all of the screen repair videos on here have guys with their little plastic tools taking off a stuck on screen, in reality that is very hard for the average person, using those dinky plastic things in reality dont work unless you get them down right, i have taken off about 15 ipod touch screens and know what im talking about, i roll with the swiss army to help me take off my screens.

  • @supportmytroups7 It is very true, more experienced techs use a more sturdy pry tool or flat head screwdriver, however for novices this is very dangerous. Plastic will not scratch the housing and is softer than many of the parts, meaning less damage. But once you know the process, a more sturdy pry tool will cut down the work quite a bit.

  • i was using my ipod last tuesday and all of the sudden the screen went white while i was using it. i tried to reset it with the hoe and sleep button but it went black and now i cant do anything on it my computer wont recognize it and i cant use it at all. do you have any ideas whats wrong?

  • @onesis5 That does not sound too good.. Sounds like a motherboard issue. These are very difficult to diagnose without it being in front of us. I would suggest taking it to a local repair shop and getting it diagnosed.

  • @RepairsUniverse

thanks for telling me but i hope it cost less to repair then get a new one

  • @onesis5 I would suggest disassembling the iTouch and checking around for major connection issues or damage to the motherboard. If you don't feel comfortable doing this, take it to a shop for diagnosis. From there you can determine if it is cost effective to repair.

  • I cracked my ipod screen where can i buy a new screen

  • @MegaRocker33 Replacements are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • Okay I had dropped my iPod sreen first and since then it has the white screen but if I coonnect my earphones and I hear music and I can still hear the noises it makes when I connect it to the computer and iTunes reads it

  • @Blackopskillsmw2 Sounds like either LCD damage or the LCD flex cable has been jarred loose (less likely but always worth a check). Replacing the LCD will resolve the issue. These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • i ordered a 2nd generation lcd screen will it work with my 32rd gen 8 gb?

  • @Sharndip07 Yes, technically there is no 8GB 3rd Generations, but that can cause a lot of confusion. You have ordered the correct LCD.

  • So I have a wSoD and I did everything and nothing worked do I just buy a new LCD and digitizer ? Because my old digitizer shattered?

  • @Blackopskillsmw2 Difficult to say, will depend on what caused the white screen. Normally a LCD screen replacement will resolve, but there are chances it is not the fault of the LCD screen and could be the motherboard. But the cheapest and most likely way to resolve would be replace the LCD screen. And digitizer if it has been damaged. All these parts and tools can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • Where can one of those pry tools be bought?

  • @piemanbillybob You can find these at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • how much would it cost to do this at the apple store

  • @steezygamer 140$

  • is it bad if the copper foil came off the lcd

  • @xDxDRodxDx It should not affect anything, however it is best if you can place the foil back if possible. Should not cause any issues though.

  • If my lighting still works, well the whole ipod works, but the slide button isn't working it doesnt slide. or like when i touch the ipod it doesn't react at all, but the lighting works and the music too, will replacing the screen solve the problem to why it doesn't react to when i touch it?

  • @LittleSenia This is the touch screen digitizer that will control this. I would suggest checking the connection to be sure it is fully in place. If it appears fine, I would suggest replacing the touch screen digitizer. These can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • why do you need that safety tool when u could just open it with a knife

  • @oliwer200 The pry tools are made of plastic which will not scratch or damage the housing/screen/internals (when used properly). A metal pry tool is much more effective but can cause damage and should only be used if you have experience.

  • @x64KiLLax same thing happens to me!

  • Howcome when I reconnect the ribbon cable for the LCD screen, my iPod just stays blank and the screen stays white?

  • @x64KiLLax This can be caused by a few things. The most common reason would be the wrong LCD gen was used. It may be your iPod Touch is a 2nd gen, not a 3rd. This is a common mistake.

  • what if the metalic tape holding the lcd screen is wrinkily is that bad?

  • @Gentopenguin1 Nope, this will not effect the function of the iPod Touch at all. Try to keep it as neat as possible though.

  • Can i use a 2nd gen digitiser on a ipod touch 3 gen

  • @murdercom998 No, these are different screens with a different connector. We have both screens at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • Will an Iphone 3rd gen screen work for my Ipod Touch 3rd gen?

  • @Gwolf3 Sadly no, the iPhone and iPod Touch screens are not cross compatible.

  • r they magnetic?

  • how do the connectors go back down cuz i need to replace my lcd screen but i dont want to make it worse can you help me

  • @tgodlington They are simple pop connectors. You just need to apply a small bit of pressure on them and they click right into place.

  • How the hell did you get it to come apart so easily. First the plastic removers broke when I tried to use them, then the screws on the metal plate wouldn't come out.

Screw apple and their shitty customer service and non-user friendly design.

  • @heroicbalthier Some are more stubborn than others, depends on history, manufacture date, etc. Removing the plastic mid frame is a bit tedious, just take your time. As for the screws, make sure you are using the correct size of phillips screwdriver. Also a small bit of penetrating fluid on a Q-Tip can help loosen these off. If that doesn't work you can use a screw extractor to remove the stuck screws.

  • If the iPod won't even turn on, could it still be the LCD screen that is the issue? I've just opened mine up and the only thing I can see that looks remotely out of place is the LCD screen - it seems to have bled.

  • @Steheath1992 It is quite possible. Is it recognized by a computer? Does it chime, etc when it starts up?

  • @RepairsUniverse No it isn't recognised by anything, and it refuses to turn on. It's as if it's totally dead at the moment

  • @Steheath1992 If it is not recognized by a computer or charger, that is not a very good sign. Normally this means the motherboard may have been damaged. A local repair shop may be able to give you more information and diagnose the issue. There are just too many variables to diagnose from afar.

  • @RepairsUniverse Okay, thank you ever so much for your quick response and advice, you've been a big help!

  • @Steheath1992 Not a problem at all. Good luck with your repair!

  • @Steheath1992 If it is not recognized by a computer or charger, that is not a very good sign. Normally this means the motherboard may have been damaged. A local repair shop may be able to give you more information and diagnose the issue. There are just too many variables to diagnose from afar.

  • Im watching this on a cracked iPod screen :(

  • I got a little water damage, but i dried it out and everything. So i just charged it and now the back light is really low and i cant use the touch screen.

  • @sasquatch446 I would check the connections for issues and damage. However water damage is tricky, as damage to the motherboard can cause similar issues. If you feel confident that the LCD and touch screen are at fault, replacing these can likely resolve the issue. Replacement screens and tools for the iPod Touch are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • @RepairsUniverse I did pry it apart last night, to find the ribbon but right in half, so I'm gonna buy a new screen and see if there is anything else wrong. Thanks for your help.

  • @sasquatch446 No problem. Good thinking. Hopefully the screen replacements will resolve the issue. Good luck with your repair.

  • Could you help please, the last row of buttons on my ipod 3rd gen won't respond to touch

  • @FuNkWaD19 This is an issue with the touch screen digitizer. I would check that the touch screens flex cable is fully in place and securely connected. If everything looks fine, replacing the screen should resolve the issue. You can find replacement screens, tools, and parts at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • Hey thanks for the tutorial! My brother had a spare digitizer and mid frame for me, except the mid frame has a metal plate with no flex cable. If i take the flax cable metal plate from the ipod i am replacing, can i put that on it? because if i take the original metal plate off of the mid frame he gave me can i put the other one on or will it break those little black dots the hold the metal plate on? please reply :)

  • @juiceboxmen You can transfer those over easily enough. you will need to break the black tabs holding the old one in place and either melt the tabs down on the new one, use adhesive strips to hold it in place, or use glue / hot glue to keep it stationary. Usually a simple swap.

  • Ok so my ipod works but when i turn it on i cant really see the screen because its dim even though i tried to turn up the brightness.

  • @zabingsterdio Have you replaced the LCD screen? Was there a drop or any damage that you can think of that caused the issue, such as a recent take apart? Usually this is just caused by a faulty LCD screen and a replacement should resolve the issue. Check out RepairsUniverse (dot) com for replacement screens and parts for the iPod Touch 3rd Gen.

  • i fixed my digitizer but now when i plug in brand new headphones it sounds as if there broken and the songs restart but when i play out of the speaker it sounds fine do i need to take it it off and tighten the screws next to the auido jack

Also with my turtle beach x11 headphone usb powered it sounds much better but i have to keep it on a medium volume or the sound messes up as if it where the headphones above

ill thumbs up your vid it help very much as i was taking off the old digitizer

  • @donahkebabnah That does seem a bit odd. I would suggest disassembling and making sure the headphone jack is not damaged and fully connected. Check for damage to the flex cable as well. Making sure it is securely in place may help, but not likely to cause the issue.

  • Great, now put it back to gether

  • @GamrXX Follow the video in reverse and you should not have any issues. The Touch 3rd normally a quick disassembly and reassembly.

  • I have my brothers ipod touch (4gen) and my ipod touch (3gen) And my brother cracked his screen and my just like, died. My question is, can you replace a 4th generation Ipod Touch screen with an Ipod Touch 3rd generation screen?

  • @4512376 No, sadly the screens are quite a bit different and not compatible with different generations.

  • THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH I did it and it worked perfectly only thing is the date changed (no big deal) why???

  • @dagreateli No problem, glad the video helped! I would re-sync it with iTunes and it should automatically change back the date, or manually set.

  • My iPod touch works , but the screen is kind of too bright, and white-ish but still transparent, and sometimes there are many horozontal lines that appear and disappears, and it will blink to normal for a second then go back to this white-ish screen. And if u look closely, u can see tiny lines vertically and horizontally that look like they're quivering. What can I do?

  • @candyapple1766 I would check the LCD screen flex cable. Make sure it is fully connected into the connector. If the connections seems good, I would suggest replacing the LCD screen.

  • Hi buddy, great video. My sisters daughter has managed to get a piece of plastic from her bling bling case inside headphone jack socket so the jack will not go in fully, I can see the offending piece of plastic inside the socket, is it easy to get to after the front has been removed? Cheers for any help.

  • @borry2008 Thank you! Yes the headphone jack is very accessible. Following this guide should gain you access. Sometimes it is too difficult to remove these foreign objects, making replacing them the best option. We have replacements available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • @RepairsUniverse Thanks buddy. I am interested but am UK based.

To be honest got the front off but have made a real mess of it, the headphone part needs replacing, the strip that connects the screen snapped and the housing also will need replacing, been a bit of a disaster. Can you help with these parts? Trouble is being UK based and you being in the USA it will take you some time for the parts to arrive.

  • @borry2008 Wow, quite the mess! Of course we can help you out, I suggest using the "contact us" page, located in the top right corner of the RepairsUniverse (dot) com homepage. Our sales staff will walk you through everything you need. As for the international shipping, we usually get packages to the UK in a week, so not too long of a wait time. Shoot us an email and we'll help get your iPod working again!

  • @RepairsUniverse Will do many thanks!!

  • @borry2008 Not a problem!

  • `LOL my ipod was so broken the screen just came off and now it doesnt work to slide to unlock

  • @isaac12239 Wow, sounds pretty smashed up. Likely damaged the touch screen digitizer flex cable.

  • Oh wow, this is slightly intimidating. I've replaced iPod video batteries before, but this seems a little more touchy. I got a free 3rd gen iTouch from my friend, with a broken LCD/digitizer. Looks like I'm going to take a bit of a gamble on replacing it....

  • @GibsonSGKing The iPod Touch's may seem intimidating, but really its quite simple, you shouldn't have too much of an issue with the repair. Just follow the video carefully! Good luck!

  • do you have a video of how to remove a broken earphone jack in an itouch?

  • @fifaplayer10 Yes we do, check out our channel and you'll find a headphone jack replacement video on the iPod Touch 4th Gen.

  • could with is fix my white screen issue? *note* i have tryed resoring and restarting it*

  • @JST1324 It is possible, if the LCD screen is faulty or has some sort of issue connecting to the motherboard. Check some of the forums out for info on white screens, there are quite a few ways of diagnosing the issues. Good luck!

  • Can I only replace the glass screen cause mine has cracks or do I have to do that

  • @liljjbo17 You can replace the glass touch screen digitizer. We have another video showing that repair and we also have the replacement screens available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • I only need the tool lol. Can I improvise and make one or will it break my Ipod?

  • @mattisproff4 You can try using a small flat head, but scratches are inevitable. Using our plastic safe open pry tools are the best option to make sure you don't damage your screen or housing. They are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • @mattisproff4 i used a mini screwdriver works fine

  • I have some scrap stuck under the protection screen of my Ipod Touch. I have treated it very well for over a year, it has no scratches and I always have a protection skin on it but somehow dirt from my pocket managed to slip under the glass and it is really disturbing me. Will removing the protection screen like on this video let me clean the inner LCD screen? Where can you get that tool from?

  • @mattisproff4 Yes, disassembling your iPod should give you access to that irritating dirt in your screen. You can find all the tools used in the video at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • Umm i have a question what happens if u come across a stripped screw while in the process of taking the LCD out

  • @FrEsHtOdEaTh1997 You can look up ways to remove stripped screws, we rarely run across the issue however. Luckily these screw are not overly strong so there should be no issue removing it if you find a decent guide. Good luck!

  • Where can I buy a repair kit and do the prying tools come with them?

  • @ejls1997 You can find replacement parts for your iPod Touch 3rd gen at RepairsUniverse (dot) com. All of our screens include a safe open pry tool free of charge. Other tools are available as well on the website.

  • Im not real sure whats wrong with my ipod touch 3rd gen but, I can use it but i cant see it i cant brighten it anymore, What's Wrong?

  • @71Racin Could be an issue with the LCD screen. Might open it up and check for connection issues, if now, replacing the LCD screen may be the way to go. You can find screen replacements at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • can you please make a video about how to replace the housing(the metal back cover) please every step of it from the taking apart to the putting back together. also are the screws identical or do i have to remember which screw went where.

  • my ipod screen is broke like it turns on and every thing but when u touch it it just stays the same msg back asap if u no how to fix :D

  • @Tubby7thst Your touch screen is broken. You will need a replacement touch screen digitizer to fix this issue. We have these replacement parts at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • My ipod touch screen has pretty much been shattered. The ipod still picks up finger movement in certain places. If i remove the glass screen and keep it off, would it be fully functional again?

  • @XshadowXkilla90X You will need a replacement touch screen digitizer. This will replace the cracked glass and the touch screen at the same time. You can find this part @ RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • @RepairsUniverse Thanks for your help :)

  • @XshadowXkilla90X No problem.

  • @XshadowXkilla90X No You Just Need Another Digitizer Like Me.

  • what can i do if two of the seven screws don't come out?

  • @LiLFJ77 Make sure you use the correct size screwdriver. We have these at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • and yes, my computer still detects the ipod

  • i need help with this, as far as i know ive done everything right but when i turn on the lcd all i get is a blank screen but the backlight is working just no picture

  • thank you, just got my new lcd screen thanks to repairsuniverse :)

  • question all i want to do is replace the glass screen why would i need to change the lcd screen if that is not faulty?

  • @TFKTE Just replace the glass then. Don;t replace the LCD if you don't need too :) This is the LCD video. We have a video showing the touch screen replacement. You can find this at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • @RepairsUniverse yea i realised that as oon as i watched to the end, silly me, but thanks any way

  • @TFKTE No problem

  • @FamousNationDomo We recommend the safe open pry tools so not to cause damage to your iPod.

You can find these at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • Thank you so much i thought i would have to buy a brand new ipod

  • @Highninja13 No problem. Glad we could help!

  • @KnowWhat1Hate Dude im not complaining, i asked for help and nothing else and obviously i did look it up hence I watched this video. Save your ignorant comments for your butt buddies on Xbox live.

  • When replacing my LCD due to the backlight going because it went through the washing machine, it all went well and the backlight started working again. However, later on it stopped working again. Is this an issue with the LCD or something else?
