I live in Europe. I know what I'm talking about. Obviously you don't. My insurance company has charged me extra money because of things they think are increased health risks. In Germany (which has one of the best insurance systems in the world) private patients get BETTER care because their insurance pays more to the caregivers. If you have a pre-existent condition you should be able to go on Medicaid (since you love G-run insurance), but no company should be forced to take customers.

ipbalkenende, I ment to say Obama said he WASN't familiar with the House bill. Obama said you will be able to keep your current plan but the House bill says if you current plan changes in any way. You will have to buy into one of the government approved plans including the public options. Healthcare plans change every year. It's a number of other things Obama says he won't support that the Dems included in the bills in Congress.

If you are healthy and don't have a job what does universal healthcare mean too you. 8%-10% unemployment will be the norm if Obama and Dems get their policies through in their current forms. Here's some real stats, the US has the most expensive healthcare system in the world, about twice as expensive as healthcare in other western countries (most single payer all universal).
About 1 billion people have longer life expectancies than Americans (EU+Japan, Canada, Australia), all of them in UHC countries. UK, France and Germany for example have shorter waiting lists than the USA as well.

You said Northern Europe not Western Europe like Germany and France which have had 8%-10% unemployment for a decade. Japan is unemployment has be at record highs for them for a decade. All of their economies depend on selling to us. The house bill drives the top income tax rate fed and state combine to 51%-56%.

If so you are a nut. And besides Japanese unemployment rates are still far lower than the US. And yeah I said norther Europe not western Europe. BTW western Europe right now has about the same unemployment rate as the US.
But just liek defense spending this has NOTHING TO DO with the fact that healthcare there is CHEAPER. Half as expensive to be precise. Which coincidentally means it costs less than medicare+medicaid. Which means they spend less federal money on healthcare money than we already do. So your spending arguments go out of the window any way you look at it (be it only federal spending or total spending).
@ipblakenende, most of Western Europe have had those unemployment rates for the last decade. When the US was booming they had 8% unemployment. You can trace that back to the late 90s when we had 4% unemployment they had 8%. Americans are not going to sacrifice our growth rates for this program. Obama might get some water down solution like S-Chip under Clinton but this big overall is dead.
None of this has anything to do with the fact that the EU has CHEAPER healthcare. You just can't connect those dots. Besides from 2005-2008 the USA had a static unemployment rate while the EU was still slashing it. Anyway the fact is the countries in the world with the lowest unemployment (Northern Europe, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan) all have a form of universal healthcare. And they had far lower unemployment than the US back in booming 2007 as well. Irrelevant but since seem to you think it is.

I live in Europe. I know what I'm talking about. Obviously you don't. My insurance company has charged me extra money because of things they think are increased health risks. In Germany (which has one of the best insurance systems in the world) private patients get BETTER care because their insurance pays more to the caregivers. If you have a pre-existent condition you should be able to go on Medicaid (since you love G-run insurance), but no company should be forced to take customers.

You are absolutely right about that. The racist remarks on one ass cheek by the right wing, but the other ass cheek cries and whines about "why do blacks systematically vote democratic?!" Hmmm, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. That party is just garbage. I've seen enough with them in my 26 years of living. I'm done with the conservative party (reformed conservative here but democrat and have been for a while now, thank goodness!).

That's not how it works. A Pizza Hut might decide to lower their price from $10 to $9 with free delivery. Then Papa John's will offer a medium one topping for 99 cents when you order a large. Its competition within a narrow range. Nobody is going to start delivering pizzas for 50 cents and stay in business.

How is a Pizza Hut going to start selling pizzas for 50 cents? And deliver them to OTHER CITIES? What will they use to pay their employees? You can't just stop charging people for your service and stay in business. You have to PAY PEOPLE.
Portable insurance would open up the competitive market. Insurance prices would go down to a REASONABLE level and stabilize.
The only company that could undercut private insurance companies is the GOVERNMENT, because they spend money they don't have. THINK!

What is the GOP Health Care Reform proposal? What ideas do they have? I have looked for them but can't find any. All of them claim that they are 'for' reform but where is their proposal? ipbalkenende, I ment to say Obama said he WASN't familiar with the House bill. Obama said you will be able to keep your current plan but the House bill says if you current plan changes in any way. You will have to buy into one of the government approved plans including the public options. Healthcare plans change every year. It's a number of other things Obama says he won't support that the Dems included in the bills in Congress.

If you are healthy and don't have a job what does universal healthcare mean too you. 8%-10% unemployment will be the norm if Obama and Dems get their policies through in their current forms. Dems are just trying to consolidate power in DC for the next 25 years like after the New Deal and Great Society programs. They don't care how it effects the economy.

Here's some real stats, the US has the most expensive healthcare system in the world, about twice as expensive as healthcare in other western countries (most single payer all universal).

You said Northern Europe not Western Europe like Germany and France which have had 8%-10% unemployment for a decade. Japan is unemployment has be at record highs for them for a decade. All of their economies depend on selling to us. The house bill drives the top income tax rate fed and state combine to 51%-56%.

But just liek defense spending this has NOTHING TO DO with the fact that healthcare there is CHEAPER. Half as expensive to be precise. Which coincidentally means it costs less than medicare+medicaid. Which means they spend less federal money on healthcare money than we already do. So your spending arguments go out of the window any way you look at it (be it only federal spending or total spending).

@ipblakenende, most of Western Europe have had those unemployment rates for the last decade. When the US was booming they had 8% unemployment. You can trace that back to the late 90s when we had 4% unemployment they had 8%. Americans are not going to sacrifice our growth rates for this program. Obama might get some water down solution like S-Chip under Clinton but this big overall is dead.

None of this has anything to do with the fact that the EU has CHEAPER healthcare. You just can't connect those dots. Besides from 2005-2008 the USA had a static unemployment rate while the EU was still slashing it. Anyway the fact is the countries in the world with the lowest unemployment (Northern Europe, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan) all have a form of universal healthcare. And they had far lower unemployment than the US back in booming 2007 as well. Irrelevant but since seem to you think it is.

That doesn't make sense you genius because their single payer systems are CHEAPER. Defense spending doesn't make that any less true. They'd be worse off with American healthcare in both cases (at the very least fiscally). Heck most of these countries entire healthcare systems (per capita of course) cost less than even medicare+medicaid alone. So go figure.
