Used correctly the water above should be cleaned of most bacteria, Giardiasis, some viruses and of course suspended solids. most studies I have seen produce bacterial removal in the high 90 percent range. the biological layer needs a little time to work, so you don't want to just rapidly dump in one load after the other. Used correctly--it is VERY effective.

Their only one problem all he did was remove the heavy particles. What remains is still water filled with microrganisms. The only way to kill them is to add a layer of charcoal to the bottom of the sand filter or boil the water.

With an old enough, but not too old, layer of bacteria growth in top layer of sand, this layer filters bacteria out of the water, hence, "biological" sand filter. This is the principle and practice. Do not know the percentage. A biological growth on top layer of the sand is part of the system. Top layer has to be periodically agitated or skimmed to free the flow. google it.

Cool but what about the parasites and bad bacteria, Unless you chlorinate or use uv you will kill those people. No sand filter can remove bacteria or viruses. Crypto or Gar

That water going in was what they were drinking before so you can hardly say that the guy in the video is going 2 get those people killed.
