I recently discovered (and love) Renekton during his free weak, but I'm reluctant to drop the RP or IP on him because I hear he's weak late game. What would you say his strengths and weaknesses are as a champion?

@lsmaug He's not very WEAK late game, he just needs to be fed. Basically he's a giant giant meatshield that can dish out damage and fool opponents into thinking you're going to die. He's an AD Caster, his main thing is that once you know his cooldowns and how to efficiently use his rage bar, he can survive even the trickiest situations.

His weakness is that he has no range spells. Like Lee sin has his Q, Jax has his leap, his only mobility is his E, which doesn't really go too far. TANKY DPS.

Renekton that maxes w + fury is alot scarier than a renekton that maxes q. I think if you went against a regular top, like gp or irelia you woulda lost by maxing Q. I usually get q at level 4, with 2 points in W, with fury it takes away 1/3 of someones hp. Try it, this is just from my experience with renekton though. I was puzzled when you got wriggles, but I'll have to try it. Also ignite is usually better, especially in cases like that rammus fb.

Renekton has no problems in chasing people thanks to his E, W and Frozen Mallet so ignite is a fail since u can 2v1 easily if u have exhaust

@punchinpupun Renekton is a burst caster, similar to the mid lane champs. Ignite is perfectly acceptable on him. Exhaust has more overall utility, but he generally doesn't need it since he's tanky and mobile enough already. It comes down to user preference.

@PikoKnight I can tell you are not a proper Renekton player. No one should ever max E over W. The damage scaling of W is almost the same as E. His E may have bonus armor reduction with fury but it only occurs on the 2nd dash while his W when empowered gives double stun time and and damage much more significant becuse theres an extra strike on it and cooldown goes down in levels. As for whether to max Q 1st or W 1st is up to the players preference or game situation.

@venom2802 Blindly insulting someone who mains Renekton aside, his W has very poor scaling, and belongs as a one-point wonder. As I said, the burst of damage comes from spending fury and building attack damage.

Q should always be maxed first regardless of the player or situation, as it provides plenty of damage on its own, in an AoE no less, as well as a strong heal. It's THE laning skill in Renekton's kit.

E is only maxed second because W scales so badly.

@venom2802 I'm not particularly bothered about the insult, but it's hard to determine intent on the internet. Best to be cautious imo.

If you miss the Slice and can't Dice, you just don't engage. This shouldn't happen very often, however, since Renekton tends to be neck-deep in the minion wave due to his pushing power. If you can't land Dice even after Slicing through minions, you're zoning your lane opponent off of the creeps, which is plenty good enough by itself.

It's just that good of a laning skill.
