Yeah, I agree, it was dumb to mark that comment as spam. As for it necessarily being an American, maybe, but most of us get pretty offended when someone tries to censor another persons opinion just because it's opposes theirs. There are stupid people everywhere.
Ducro, your analogy would make sense if history didn't say different. Go look up Operation Ajax, and the English/Russian interference in Iran long before Americas coup. You'll see that they really do have a lot to blame us for, and it's not just a red scare.
The overthrow of Mosaddeq was a huge blunder, don't forget though, Mosaddeq was trying to play us and the Russians. Now, what we have here is different from black op backed thugs attempting a coup, this is a large segment of the civilian populace trying to have their voices heard. Blaming the U.S. is an excuse to avoid addressing the fact that they can't keep their own house in order, which isn't surprising seeing how they treat these poor kids.
Ducro, the overthrow of Mossadegh may have been a mistake in terms of retrospect but it was the goal at the time during the coup. The "house" so to speak has been messed with for hundreds of year by America/Russia/England. The political chaos atm is not due to The People vs. The Mullahs. It has to do with taking America on through subtlery or stubbornness. Both sides will be there for the Death to America rallies, that's the funny part that most of you don't get.
Western greed and prejudice over the centuries is a perfectly reasonable motivation to mistrust us. That being said, it is unreasonable to watch your house burn and curse the man that you think is responsible, rather than looking for the source before your barn burns down. And I'm sure they'll be at the rallies, but without an incompetent government using us as a scapegoat to divert attention from themselves, eventually they'll realize it's better to focus on their life than our death.
Decro, when Iranians "watched their barn burn" during Operation Ajax they had no choice, they were fooled and SAVAK was far too heavy-handed. Bush uses Iran as a scapegoat, and Ahmadinejad uses Bush as a scapegoat, what's your point? Without "foreign terrorists" Americans might finally rise from their fear and paranoia and go out to stop the corporations who run their lives.
The point that I was making is that Iran should focus on the real root of the problem, that their people want to have true representation, transparency, an accountable government. Instead they ignore this and blame us. And OK, when we see our leaders use others as a scapegoat we should call bullshit on them even louder. And you make the point that without our scapegoats we might wake up, well fine, by that logic you prove my point about them coming to grips with their real problems, and not us.
Ducro, the government does represent the people. Unfortunately, those who you see online, Iranian bloggers, vloggers, etc. are mostly of the Shahi/expat variety or are dissidents living in Iran. The current Islamic Republic of Iran is in power because of the U.S, how's that? Mossadegh was overthrown to install the Shah, and the Shah was removed by the people in favor of the Islamic Republic in response to the Shah's actions (he was a U.S puppet).
I'm not arguing that our governments wrong actions 56 years ago has nothing to do with the current political situation, I'm saying that the peoples frustration with their government is the cause of the protests, and the lack of transparency, accountability, and direct democratic representation in the positions that hold the most power. This issue was not caused by the U.S. it was caused by tyrants wanting to keep hold of their power. Once again, I agree, the U.S.'s involvement in 53 was wrong.
Ducro, the protests are due to government candidates, not the government itself. You're seeing Mousavi supporters, not people who want to topple the Islamic Republic. My point remains that without the interference during Operation Ajax, the Islamic Republic would not exist, thus rendering the candidates and their current policies mostlikely not suitable for election, and successfully ending the protests.
At this point it just doesn't seem likely that the only motivation for the protests is the desire to have a candidate that doesn't offer much in the way of fundamental change, It seems like the people were pinning their hopes on this election being the first step toward greater future changes. We screwed up half a century ago and now they are suffering for it, but it doesn't relieve the government from it's responsibility for the manipulating of the election results, which led to the protests,
What seems "likely" from your point of view, to put it bluntly, may not be an accurate measure. I know the candidates policies, backgrounds, etc. I have family who live in Iran. I don't just hear this on the news, lol. Ahmadinejad supporters still outnumber Mousavi supporters, the elections (and protests) have shown this.
My point of view may not be an accurate measure, and you are more well informed, but you also have a dog in the fight. Though I can take you as an authority on Iran, the information necessary to form an informed opinion is available. Conceding to your authority is unnecessary. Ibrahim Yazdi called this a coup and was arrested, Maryam Rajavi said that the"religious dictatorship and all its suppressive institutions must be done away with.Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, said the election was rigged, etc
Disregarding key historical facts such as coups and Americas direct interference in Iran and then blaming the government which happened as the result of said interference is ignoring the truth. Americas problem is being dumbed down by American idol and becoming afraid of their government. Iran's is the rift caused by interference and the balance of said rift. Calling out leaders for scapegoats does not equate to having the same resolution, so I'd call strawman.
If you admit that Ahmadinejad is using us as a scapegoat, then I must assume that you agreed with the context of my use, therefore if you didn't agree with the full context it was your place to clarify, not mine to assume otherwise. I think I understand you to say that the responsibility for the oppressive system of the current government doesn't rest on the people in power there, but instead on us as the descendants of those who started the chain of events in motion?
Ducro, both Ahmadinejad and Bush have used each other to detract from issues. Ahmadinejad has a real claim though when it comes to American interference, whereas Bush merely had some paranoia to play with about possible attacks (which would be attempted revenge). And no I'm not saying America is indebted to Iran in terms of settling their elections or domestic issues. I'm just saying that Operation Ajax is directly responsible for the formation of the Islamic Republic.
OK assuming that the U.S. is ultimately responsible for the conditions that have led to the protests, and that Ahmadinejad is perfectly justified in his suspicions of the U.S.'s influence of the people. Then does this nullify the point of the protests, is their protesting without substance? Is what we're seeing here just a cleverly orchestrated manipulation of the peoples emotions to suit the goals of the U.S., or is it more likely that what is being called agitation is free exchange of ideas?
Ducro, the point of the protest isn't "nullified", it's just not the point that you and many others are making it. They aren't pushing for a revolution. This isn't an anti-mullah protest. It's a sectarian divide, not a radical shift.
Initially the protests were in response to suspected voter fraud, but once the violent crackdown from the government took place, a new dimension to their frustration became apparent. I've heard opinions from others that see the same thing, the only reference that I can give is a phone in opinion taken by Riz Khan on Al Jazeera English's YT channel, by a lady who voiced her support for the protesters, saying that they can take all that they want, based on her experience at the 1979 revolution.
They are pushing for a Revolution my friend. Ask any Iranian. No one wants an Islamic regime. The gov. pays off farmers and gives them empty promises to get support. They silence the intellectuals and control the media. Thats how they have stayed in power for 30 years.
What do you want me to say? Obviously I don't feel good about it. There are always outside interests in Iran. We had our chance of democracy and yes the west didn't allow it.
We all feel betrayed by governments. I have hope in people.
The people shooting your people are probabley not the basijis or the police. The reason they would manipulate this is cause you have oil. not only that but have you noticed the country beside yours is pretty much controlled by the US? you also have a border with russia as well. dont know if you know what the US army did in iraq but they killed alot of innocent people there. If this keeps up they might do the exact same thing to iran
Same thing in the U.S. bud, except no one is rebelling and no islamic regime. Hell in the past 60 years the US has manipulated the shit out of your country and caused it to have 2 revolutions. whos to say they arnt doing the same thing here?.....
I left a reply that didn't post here. What I wrote was that the overthrow of Mosaddeq was a mistake, though he was trying to play us and the Russians into a bidding war. But this isn't a CIA /MI6 plot positioning thugs for a coup, these are civilians, and lots of them, wanting to have their voices heard. The people who blame the U.S. are trying to avoid the real issue, that the Iranian govt. can't keep it's own house in order, which isn't surprising seeing how they butcher their own children.
As far as "butchering children". It's funny that thousands of people in America die by the hands of the government (cops) at traffic stops and riots, but no one says a word. There were MILLIONS protesting against Bush, but the second there's a small street protest in Iran and 1-2 people die, everyone is up in arms like it's some turning of the century historical revolution. This Hollywood films take on things is getting old.
I assure you that more than a word is spoken when these things happen, and it's not thousands(at least not in this century). And when our government does this, a ravenous pack of lawyers and journalists bears down on them and uncovers every detail of what happened, in Iran you have the fox guarding the hen house, there can't be justice without a truly accountable government, and there can't be accountability when the government has the ability to this to it's people.
Thousands of Americans have indeed died in protests/cop killings/prisons, what are you talking about? That "ravenous pack of lawyers and journalists" get a "we'll look into it" and the cop gets a couple weeks without pay and some court ordered anger management. The killing of that woman was not an execution or a government ordered action. It was the result of mob violence and riot police responding. It was not premeditated murder but the result of the protest itself.
If you cant see that then you are not being honest about your religion. Islamic Republic of Iran is a dictatorship in the name of Islam. I want democracy and separation of religion and state for Iran. I think most of my people will agree on that.
They are rioting for their freedom. the islamic regime commited fraud in the elections two weeks ago, and at first the riots were for a recount, and for the government to acknowledge that a mistake had been made. now they are rioting against the Islamic Regime all together.
Why is everyone bringing up countries names in all of this?
Comparing and contrasting makes matters worst. People in this world are sick, demented and crazy. We shouldn't even be ranked high over all the other animals in the animal kingdom. Yeah we aren't perfect. But, we sure as hell aren't making it any better. With this and all of the other horrible things going on. +=',(
I believe in free speech and I would like everyone to express their opinions here but even free speech has its limits. I have reason to believe thug government operatives and those with interests are spamming you tube and twitter with misinformation and propaganda

man tell me then .....why you in Iran, .the onu or america not considering the protestant as terrorist,...and if the same would happen in USA , they would consider their protestant as terrorist or suspicious to be ,.i mean there is something going on,...and im against the NWO, and this event smell too much NWO
No matter which faith you follow, I'm sure we can all agree that the people who did this have secured a deep place in whatever you believe serves as eternal punishment in the afterlife.

violent repression demands a violent revolution.
you should bomb police and militias hq's, steal weapons and fight back when they're spanking innocents.
you should make homicide attempts at the regime figures as a warn.

Ahmadinejad has a real claim though when it comes to American interference, whereas Bush merely had some paranoia to play with about possible attacks (which would be attempted revenge). And no I'm not saying America is indebted to Iran in terms of settling their elections or domestic issues. I'm just saying that Operation Ajax is directly responsible for the formation of the Islamic Republic.
staringintotheabyss 2 years ago
OK assuming that the U.S. is ultimately responsible for the conditions that have led to the protests, and that Ahmadinejad is perfectly justified in his suspicions of the U.S.'s influence of the people. Then does this nullify the point of the protests, is their protesting without substance? Is what we're seeing here just a cleverly orchestrated manipulation of the peoples emotions to suit the goals of the U.S., or is it more likely that what is being called agitation is free exchange of ideas?
ducroisjosef 2 years ago
Ducro, the point of the protest isn't "nullified", it's just not the point that you and many others are making it. They aren't pushing for a revolution. This isn't an anti-mullah protest. It's a sectarian divide, not a radical shift.
staringintotheabyss 2 years ago
Initially the protests were in response to suspected voter fraud, but once the violent crackdown from the government took place, a new dimension to their frustration became apparent. I've heard opinions from others that see the same thing, the only reference that I can give is a phone in opinion taken by Riz Khan on Al Jazeera English's YT channel, by a lady who voiced her support for the protesters, saying that they can take all that they want, based on her experience at the 1979 revolution.
ducroisjosef 2 years ago
They are pushing for a Revolution my friend. Ask any Iranian. No one wants an Islamic regime. The gov. pays off farmers and gives them empty promises to get support. They silence the intellectuals and control the media. Thats how they have stayed in power for 30 years.
PersianResistance911 2 years ago
PR, how do you feel about Mossadegh and Operation Ajax?
staringintotheabyss 2 years ago
What do you want me to say? Obviously I don't feel good about it. There are always outside interests in Iran. We had our chance of democracy and yes the west didn't allow it.
We all feel betrayed by governments. I have hope in people.
PersianResistance911 2 years ago
The people shooting your people are probabley not the basijis or the police. The reason they would manipulate this is cause you have oil. not only that but have you noticed the country beside yours is pretty much controlled by the US? you also have a border with russia as well. dont know if you know what the US army did in iraq but they killed alot of innocent people there. If this keeps up they might do the exact same thing to iran
tehgrunt3 2 years ago
nevermind. i just saw videos of police shooting civis. they should only be using rubber bullets.....
tehgrunt3 2 years ago
You don't have any idea of what you're talking about...and because I am in the position to know about it, you sound like a complete twit.
Missus2112 2 years ago
Same thing in the U.S. bud, except no one is rebelling and no islamic regime. Hell in the past 60 years the US has manipulated the shit out of your country and caused it to have 2 revolutions. whos to say they arnt doing the same thing here?.....
tehgrunt3 2 years ago
I left a reply that didn't post here. What I wrote was that the overthrow of Mosaddeq was a mistake, though he was trying to play us and the Russians into a bidding war. But this isn't a CIA /MI6 plot positioning thugs for a coup, these are civilians, and lots of them, wanting to have their voices heard. The people who blame the U.S. are trying to avoid the real issue, that the Iranian govt. can't keep it's own house in order, which isn't surprising seeing how they butcher their own children.
ducroisjosef 2 years ago
As far as "butchering children". It's funny that thousands of people in America die by the hands of the government (cops) at traffic stops and riots, but no one says a word. There were MILLIONS protesting against Bush, but the second there's a small street protest in Iran and 1-2 people die, everyone is up in arms like it's some turning of the century historical revolution. This Hollywood films take on things is getting old.
staringintotheabyss 2 years ago
I assure you that more than a word is spoken when these things happen, and it's not thousands(at least not in this century). And when our government does this, a ravenous pack of lawyers and journalists bears down on them and uncovers every detail of what happened, in Iran you have the fox guarding the hen house, there can't be justice without a truly accountable government, and there can't be accountability when the government has the ability to this to it's people.
ducroisjosef 2 years ago
Thousands of Americans have indeed died in protests/cop killings/prisons, what are you talking about? That "ravenous pack of lawyers and journalists" get a "we'll look into it" and the cop gets a couple weeks without pay and some court ordered anger management. The killing of that woman was not an execution or a government ordered action. It was the result of mob violence and riot police responding. It was not premeditated murder but the result of the protest itself.

You tell us to stop blaming US and Israel yet you just said Islamic people have Darkness In Their Hearts?
no1caresandneverwill 2 years ago
I should have said Islamic extremists.
If you cant see that then you are not being honest about your religion. Islamic Republic of Iran is a dictatorship in the name of Islam. I want democracy and separation of religion and state for Iran. I think most of my people will agree on that.

as i said, it takes an extremem to push another to be extreme,... ;)

so why are they rioting?
eagledynasty81 2 years ago
They are rioting for their freedom. the islamic regime commited fraud in the elections two weeks ago, and at first the riots were for a recount, and for the government to acknowledge that a mistake had been made. now they are rioting against the Islamic Regime all together.

per LIBERATED WOMEN ?!?! women are like animals! if they're let free they go wild and chaos happens. in my point it's a very good thing she was killed. the sniper who shot her realised that if he'd shoot the violent protesters it wouldn't have such a serious mass media impact and more would come to join the fight. but by killing her he demonstrated he's not only doing his job to get paid - he believes in what he's doing. and that is admirable
