I agree with you, his work in Rainbow was great. ( the albums he recorded with Rinbow are my favourite ones) He has quite a nice voice but , I think , he fails to be a complete singer, I don´t know what he is missing. But I know what he must have: he seems to accept to play second fiddle to others: Blackmore, Malmsteen, Hughes... That´s why he got where he got, not because of his nice voice
