WOW, that must have been quite an experience. Hope yur mate didn't burn his tongue. Takoyaki are like Chinese dumplings that have soup in them- you think they are cool, but once you bite in the scorching soup comes out and burns ya mouth. Just a precaution. If i understood Japanese i would have had a better time watching this. Very Awesome.

I think you're thinking about xiao long bao, dumplings that you can find at dim sum restaurants. They are filled with a bit of meat and broth. Takoyaki is basically a fried batter with pieces of octopus in them, among other things.

it is really hot in temperature and is savoury in taste. They are made with flour, fish stock, egg and have ginger, octopus, fried batter, leek and other things in them!
