Thx wilerobby. Btw check out the concert stills in this vid. You will notice that the drummer and guitarist are watching John. He is very much the leader and they had their eyes on him for a reason. Great band!
This band is one of the tightest rock groups to ever play. They are always right on tune right on target and never ever sloppy in any way. Here they are on stage and they sound like a studio cut.
@lebarosky You are so right. Exactly my thoughts when I saw them in Madison Square Garden in 1970. I was astounded at the tightness of the live performance, I vividly remember to this day.
Our next door neighbors, northside Berkeley, were friends with the Fogertys. We used to listen to 'em practice, right after they change from the Golligwogs to CCR. WE knew they were good, but had no idea they'd become the icons they justifiably became. For those of us who served during the Vietnam era, no song was stronger than Fortunate Son. We used to scream that song along with the radio. Truth is a powerful thing, and music is its most effective vehicle, when done right, and CCR did.
Yes, interestingly John Fogerty thought he overplayed on this song-but i think this is some of his best work, the rolls are spot on timing, tasteful and suit the track-Fogerty prefers Anroff
