  • I am never, ever, EVER going to forgive my mom for not teaching me to speak Taiwanese as I was growing up.

  • Chinese back then only studied and knew their own dialect .When the Qing government fell scholars centralised Mandarin to become the standard language of all its people even for those who live on other countries (Malaysia, Singapore, ROC (Taiwan)

  • I'm not sure how many Chinese dialects there are but there are few umbrella groups to note like Hainanese, Guangdong (Cantonese, Hakka, Taishanese, Singling, Teochew) Fujian( Amoy Hokkien, Southern Minna(hokkien), Hokchiu, Hokchia), Wu dialect (Shanghainese, Suzhounese, Hangzhou, etc ), Northerner( Beijing Mandarin, other mandarin types). Did you know chairman Mao Zeong spoke in his dialect Xiang dialect and ChiangKaishek spoke Wu dialect

  • Is this Taiwanese or is this Cantonese? Because it sounds beautiful. And I listened to it like 3 times and it doesnt really sound like Cantonese, but it doesn't sound Taiwanese either :P

  • @MySungminOppa its the southern minnan dialect of fujian (hokkien) however this variation is taiwanese (hokkien mixed with mandarin) i think.

  • @MySungminOppa

Its taiwanese...i know bcuz i speak hokkien

  • i love how taiwanese sounds so similar to cantonese, but it's so different at the same time! :D

  • I agree with fishiie, this song is gorgeous in Taiwanese. I only speak Mandarin, but I love this song nonetheless. I would have to say it's my favorite off this CD.

  • I agree with fishiie, this song is so gorgeous in Taiwanese. I really loved how they did it. =)

  • most taiwanese natives speak taiwanese or at least understand it.

because people still speak it occasionally on talk shows and the older generations blabber away in taiwanese.

  • <3 this song. beautiful (:

  • Taiwanese is like.. a native language. What the old people speak, basically. Young people nowadays (mostly those outside Taiwan) don't know how to speak it

This song is sooooooooo beautiful in taiwanese :)

  • @fishiiie A) its not a native language... its from china im taiwanese i know B) its not spoken by just old ppl the ppl near the southern area of taiwan, even the middle area spoke it too and they r really good at it im ok aint that good but im gonna teach my kid no matter what 3) this song is awesome
  • @howeryu

    derived* from china

  • it's a pretty song, but i think i'd like it better if it was less "modern"-ish...i get it, it's the style, but that's just my opinion...

  • does S.H.E ever use taiwanese when speaking?? usually they just speak in mandarin right??

  • @MintyButterfly i meant use taiwanese in general... can someone tell me what the difference between taiwanese and mandarin is?? i heard that its traditional (taiwanese) but isn't cantonese also traditional??? i'm confused.... o.O

  • @MintyButterfly

Cantonese is traditional for all Chinese. Taiwanses is traditional for Taiwanese cuz most of the Taiwanses are come from the same ancestor.

  • @cheliesy Mandrin is traditional for all Chinese... Cantonese is for people who lives in Hong Kong
