The U.S. Audi guy is an moron and put his foot in his mouth. The new Audi A1 E-tron is an electric car with a range extending engine. What GM car does that sound similar to?
@edstar83 lol I've been saying the same thing for months lol the sheep will settle for anything the oil/profit mongers will give them, the volt-less volt is JUNK and made for Idiots.
Paice/Toyota, Russia /Japan, suing. What happened to the good old days when they just nuke each other? As far as junk cars went, once again I could not do it,
The Chevy Volt gets 30% worse mpg than the Prius, and costs twice as much. It has a gas generator which creates the same amount of pollution as a normal gas engine. Even if you drive 40 miles or less each day (and thus only use the batteries), you would have to own the car for nearly a decade for it to be cheaper to run than the Prius. As for the Audi A3 TDI, $30,000 isn't expensive at all for a high-end luxury car with an environmentally friendly engine (also more efficient than the Volt)
@miredian Would you care to explain how the A3 TDI isn't a high end luxury car? So far as I can see, it gets the usual luxury treatments that define Audi's impeccable interior quality. I'm guessing that you have never driven one or even sat in one (or a Chevy Volt). If you have anything factual to say, please do so. Otherwise, your ungrounded and erroneous opinions serve only to mar an otherwise interesting debate.
@marshknute VW & Audi reliability is horrible, though. If you've heard of an Audi anywhere that hasn't had any major problems, please tell me. I'll be impressed. And an A3 TDI is far less luxurious than a volt. Don't even try to argue otherwise.
@chevycrazykid I never mentioned reliability. All german cars except for Porsche's are lemons--that's why they come with unlimited warranties. You are legally retarded if you think the Volt has a nicer interior to an Audi interior. The volt's materials are "acceptable" at best, while Audi is known for having the best interiors on the market. Judging by your username, I can only assume that you are just another blindly ignorant fanboy who doesn't care to acknowledge the facts.
@marshknute One question.. have you ever even sat in a Volt? Seems to me like you have no idea what you're even talking about if you think the materials are 'acceptable'. All german cars are lemons? Look at Mercedes. They're good, reliable vehicles for the most part.
@chevycrazykid Yes, I've sat in a Volt. The center console looks and feels terrible, and the buttons look like an afterthought. Nowhere close to the Audi's near-perfect interior. The Audi is a bit conservative, but it uses the finest materials and they are fit together better than almost everything else on the market.
Unfortunately, both Mercedes and Audi rank in the 30th percentile for reliability, with BMW only slightly ahead in the 40th percentile. Hence the unlimited warranties.
@chevycrazykid Um...you should consider giving up cars and choosing a different passion. How can you be so fucking retarded as to think BMW is British? The name means "Bavarian Motor Works." It was founded in the German state of Bavaria, and the modern day headquarters in in Munich, Germany.
I would have to agree with the Post below. My thought, you should look at yourself before you pass judgement on others. Audi, I don't see you making Electric cars. Audi, you really should think Green and save the Earth for our future kids...
I saw a Prius right around the office buildings were me and my mom go to see the doctors for appointments it said it came from (UW) University of Washington and also said it got up to 100 MPG way to go don't give University of Washington!
the Prius is the most modern and fuel efficently car of the world , btw Cayenne it's not a real porsche but an overpriced VW Touareg with another (ugly) bodyshell, so, the cars for idiots are made just by the VW group, suckers...
Yes it gets the best MPG, but it is one of the dumbest looking cars on the road. I knew that about the Cayenne, and I don't care. It may just be a luxury SUV with a Porsche badge, but I still love it just the same.
What people in US don't say, the 2.0 L. TDI 140 hp engine, is a must rubbish engine what VW group haves make.
Problems of cylinder head gasket, pump water, stealing driving which breaks, clutch defective, nontight porous cylinder head, flow measures air unreliable. The list is still long many problems which touch this engine.
The maintenance of these engines is 30 to 50% larger than those practised at PSA for an equivalent engine!
My wife's brother have his A4 TDI and goes to garage any week.
If I like the Cevrolets (all models) I'm a rubbish too ?! F*ck*n Audi president !
In Europe, german cars drivers are drivin like cocks. Their have a massive sex frustration. To show to world they're good people, they buy a massive & expansive german cars.
That to put a shadow on their frustrations! I'm an european guy, I hate germans & their cars but love so much brits & americans rides !
The Audi of America president is absolutely right. The Volt is for dolts who want to pay a $15,000 premium for a car that competes with the Toyota Corolla.
Youre underestimating the the bragging factor that will come with this car. To some, the image of driving such an eco friendly car is worth the 15k premium.
nemesis3001: You can get the same "image" by driving a Prius. The next generation Prius is due out soon. The Nissan Leaf also gets an "equivalent" of 367 mpg.
ok, but also to pay 50.000 euro for a TT is for idiots because the TT it's a Golf with a coupe bodyshell,, same chassis, same engines...Audi's president is just envious because they don't have know how for to make an Hybrid, and aniway the Q7 V12 TDI it's an inteliigent car? i don't think so...
and then a small gasoline engine recharges the battery, so the range isnt limited. however, it seems to be a complex, expensive vehicle that no one will buy except for the greenies. if its only to save gas it makes no sense, this things going to cost 40 grand
You may recall that the volt has a gasoline engine that acts as a generator to charge the battery packs and power the electric motors after the 40 mile mark..
