Obama's election is historic. But it's not magic.

Let's hold off on blindly doing away with various social groups and social programs. There are still tremendous gaps in wealth/income, education, and judicial fairness amongst African-Americans and the rest of the country. They are AMERICAN problems that have not been fully solved.

I agree, work still to be done in some areas.

It's just that in todays climate, some programs would profit better if a racial unharmony exist. Programs shot down through budget constraints for the poor should not always be veiwed as racist attempts of neglect like these programs constantly promote. Just look at GWB, no credit whatsoever for helping out Africa? And it just cracks me up across the pond. They talk of us and racism. Show me just one European country with an elected minority.

And GWB would get plenty of props for his work in Africa. Bush is a big government republican is undeniable. That's the truth and I for one thought dems appreciate big spenders? Am I wrong, or is it just what they think spending should go to is the case? Bush, his two great social spending initiatives, prescription drug benefits for seniors under Medicare and No Child Left Behind were not contested by either party.

At the time "Mission Accomplished" his approval rating was over 90% in 03. What went wrong there was the American public lost interest.
